Enjoyed the afternoon viewing the Andy Kaufman biopic on one of my free cable Max’s, Man On The Moon, here’s the trailer…
This 1999 film kinda reminded me of the 2008 and 2012 elections. You know, in that the “audience is stupid” sort of way ? Loved that it included Lorne Michaels and David Letterman being sucker punched. Made me think again, Kaufman was pure gold in the good ole 80’s 🙂 R.I.P Andy.
So, are there any other movies that made you think in a political way? Trailers can be found on http://www.imdb.com
We just saw Taken 2 on dvd. Not half as good as Taken; way too improbable.
I think the movie “When Harry Met Sally” started turning me conservative 🙂 Oh God, how long ago was that?
♥ that movie so much! Watched it over and over. It never got old.
OMG….This>>> from The American President….
Carbon emissions and gun control. Who says Hollywood isn’t getting its money’s worth from Obama? lol
The Time Machine from 1960. The book was even more directly critical of Big Government. The scene where the girl almost drowns and everyone just watches is especially interesting.
You’re right, that was creepy.
The Bush years:
Ok, I raise you flying monkeys 🙂
The Independence Day Prezzy rocks too:
The funny thing about a lot of hollywood movies is they often make the authority the bad guy, and the people rebelling against it the good guys. Which is pretty universal perhaps. But they currently worship the establishment and bigger and more controlling government. So by their own standards, they’re the bad guys. Which makes sense since they are also big evil giant corporations too.
By the way, Hulu has free movies all weekend from the Criterion collection online:

2008 Democratic convention:
*snicker*
We have a winner: Black Prezzy Hero scene:
…and he’s gone….
I don’t know how I missed this !
that is great
Cher is having a spectacular meltdown on Twitter, and @SmallGay is retweeting it all. I waded into the mess and immediately got an obot troll. Not touching that link.
Meltdown city.
two political movies that made me think
Advise and Consent ——Henry Fonda
The Manchurian Candidate ——Frank Sinatra and Lawrence Harvey
If they were smart the right would respond to *every* criticism of Cruz & Rubio with cries of racism and how the left “can’t handle a Hispanic man in the Senate” — WTF it’s basically true, what else explains all the “Rubio is a ‘token'” talk and the concerted effort to turn Cruz into an Irish guy from WI from 50 years ago?
They also refer to Cruz in almost every article as “the Canadian-born Cruz…” They are trying bigtime to other them. Minority and female conservatives scare the shit out of Progs.
Yep — remember the RNC — not one clip or mention in the MSM of all the female & minority speakers, who were governors, US congressmen & senators.
Meanwhile, at the DNC they had to scramble to find 2 Hispanic MAYORS and the MSM flooded the zone with coverage of them.
The right needs to stop with the circus on their side with social issues (that stuff belongs in the purview of the STATES anyway) and present a united front to expose the progs as being the racists & sexists that they truly are.
Andy Griffith plays a charlatan TV political pundit in “A Face in the Crowd.”
A corrupt populist governor played by Broderrick Crawford in

Are we there yet?
Of course:
And best 16 seconds from same:
for those of you that have ruko did you ever try a movie from VUDU?
I just got advise and consent to watch again. every minute they stop to buffer. what a pain in the a$$. do they do that with all movies?
Helen, I use Vudu on my smart TV. With Vudu, you can pick three different kinds of downloads, at different levels of bandwidth. If you picked a high level one, that might be your problem. If you picked the lowest level, you may need to upgrade your bandwidth with your provider. Most companies offer a power up starting at $10 extra a month. I never have a problem with the lowest level, but do with the highest level.
You might also be able to pause it for a bit and let some of it download ahead.
thanks. I will try that
So I binge watched “House of Cards”. More snow due tomorrow. I just gave “Lillyhammer” a tryout on Netflix. I think I know what I’m doing tomorrow.
Isn’t House of Cards AWESOME eleventy!111!!!!
Yes, it is. And I love the way Netflix presented it. Watch it one episode at a time if that’s your preference or just keep watching it until you run out.
Finally got to watch this season’s first Southland. What a disappointment. Thought I was watching the Dem’s national convention. Yawn.
Me too so I deleted it. 😆
