Twitter – The Intersection Of Short And Stupid

No, seriously.

What is Amanda Marcotte’s solution? Teach men not to rape!

Personally, I think the bullet-riddled corpse of a would-be rapist is a wonderful visual aid.

No one is telling her she has to hurt a rapist if she doesn’t want to do so but she needs to understand that not all of us “feel” the same way. She is free to talk to, coddle, reason with, beg, cry, submit and anything else she wants with her rapist which is her legal right before he murders her or grants her mercy by letting her live. And if she doesn’t want him to go to jail all she has to do is not report it as is her right. In MY house I choose to shoot mine with a shotgun and that too is legal and I won’t go to jail as long as I don’t shoot him in the back. So what’s the problem? She can do what she “feels” is right and so can I. She has no right to make me follow her passive victim’s morality which I find offensive.

  6. DeniseVB says:

Looks like our Team TCH got under Amanda’s skin yesterday … go team go ! Why is it if you disagree with someone, you’re pronounced a “wingnut” ? Seems Marcotte’s pretty much one herself from the left.

Here’s a brief history (via Newsbuster’s archives) of Marcotte’s short run with the Edwards campaign. At the time, I defended her, but just reading the annotated headlines made me go “what was I thinking”. She was still slamming the Duke Lacrosse players after they were cleared!

  7. WHAT is wrong with this person? (And I say that as this is the internet- and for all we know “she” could really be some rapist masquerading as a woman)
Rape is about power- and I’ll be damned if I am just going to lie down and let some filthy slime have power over me. NOT HAPPENING!
And what is up with her idea that shooting and killing your rapist is going to land you in jail?
Not where I live. Maybe in lala land where she lives- but not here.

    • Lulu says:

She truly doesn’t understand the concept of self-defense. She either doesn’t want to or is incapable. Maybe she likes being a cringing victim or something. Or she is from such a rarefied environment of privilege that she has never known any type of physical aggression and only the downtrodden who she must help would do it. I think if she got the shit beat out of her and raped she would change her tune if she lived through it. But then again she might like it or want to save them. Crazytown is that kind of thinking.

      • DeniseVB says:

I think Marcotte missed the whole point, packing heat for protection is a woman’s (or anyone’s) “choice”. Also, not all attackers are rapists, some just want to kill you.

I personally am afraid of guns so doubt I’ll ever carry one. I won’t even carry pepper spray for fear if I’m in a situation to use it, I’ll blast it in my own face.

        • votermom says:

The beauty of Concealed carry is that rapists just can’t assume you’re not packing heat.

Btw, check if your local hunting/shooting/sportsmen’s vclubs are offering free gun safety classes for women. These are getting popular.

        • wmcb says:

Yep, votermom. ALL assaults went down drastically at universities where CC was allowed, not just for women who were carrying. It helped even women who weren’t comfortable carrying. You don’t have to participate to benefit.

      • myiq2xu says:

Marcotte says she was raped 15 years ago.

        • angienc (D) says:

          Yeah, I’m saying it.

        • votermom says:

Weird that she doesn’t advocate self-defense then. I mean, really weird and out of the norm for rape survivors. Eh, maybe she internalized some kind of “I deserve to be a victim” message or something, who knows.

        • So. One in four females have been raped at some point in their lives. That just makes her a statistic, not an expert. We all get to handle our experiences however we see fit, as long as we’re in the bounds of law. Women handle rape differently, both during and after the fact. She’s just trying to bully women into doing it her way. Fuck that noise right now.

        • wmcb says:

I think it’s that she didn’t or couldn’t fight back (which is totally fine), so if some other woman does it makes her feel guilty.

Which is twisted and kind of sick. She’s asking other women to join her in her victimization in some kind of strange self-sacrificial abasement.

        • 49erDweet (D) says:

That probably explains her denial of reality. It’s self justification. Any suggestion victims have means to prevent rape criticizes her for surviving victimization. She is likely scarred for life

I already miss Hillary, JK’s such a “diplomat” “gonna do things different” kinda guy. Not sure, but did this article throw her under the bus?

  9. myiq2xu says:

    WRM on JJJr.:

We hope the judge remembers when sentencing that the chief victims of Jackson’s crimes are poor, defenseless people who need effective legislative representation—representation that he was too busy feathering his nest and rolling in unearned privilege to provide.

We’ve learned not to expect moral outrage from the left when the representatives of deeply crooked and solidly entrenched big city political machines betray their constituents and the public trust. But these crimes are genuinely despicable; Jackson has brought unspeakable shame on his family and himself. He should spend a lot of time in jail, both because his crimes are so destructive and as a terrifying example to others.

It would be nice to hear some sharp moral condemnation from the President of the United States of this unprincipled criminality, but we almost certainly won’t. When it comes to moral leadership against the crime wave of Democratic elected officials pillaging the poor in one city after another, this President is tongue tied. History will remember that silence, and it won’t be kind. The struggle against crooked big-city politicians is a vital part of today’s real struggle to help the poor. The President is betraying poor black Americans who need him to have the courage and the honesty to speak in their name.

Don’t be surprised if JJJr. runs for office again when he gets out – and wins.

    • wmcb says:

See: Marion Barry. You should see some of the rants by black libertarians and conservatives and centrists on how the race hustlers and poverty pimps help destroy poor black communities.

      And they are right.

  10. yttik says:

I think the problem with Amanda and others like her is that they don’t realize how authoritarian and paternalistic they are. If you think for yourself or disagree with them in anyway, you’re a conservative, a wingnut, a Republican male, and anything you say should be mocked and ridiculed, and dismissed. Actually you don’t even have the right to exist. Their whole existence revolves around showing how superior they are and how ignorant others are.

There is no empowerment of women, no solving of problems, no healthy debate. It’s all about being a bully, about demanding everyone else conform, and about raging against those who don’t.

    • votermom says:

Sometimes I think their need to control everything must stem from a fear of everything and a deep belief in their own inadequacies.

      • fernschild says:

I also think they can’t imagine their child or grandchild being attacked. I sure as hell would have no problem ending the miserable life of someone in that circumstance. Not even if the consequence were prison for the rest of my days.

        • votermom says:

They imagine their child/grandkid growing up in a liberal utopia with no rapists or attackers of any sort.

        • angienc (D) says:

She advocates “teaching men not to rape” — which is a false argument. 1. No one is saying you shouldn’t do that — but that doesn’t have anything to do with having some extra insurance in case your teachings fail to reach one rapist (kind of a trust but verify thing). 2. It presumes that rape is actively encouraged (hence needing to “teach” men not to do it) when, in fact, rape is already ILLEGAL — it isn’t like smoking — yes, it’s legal, but you want to teach people it’s bad & they shouldn’t do it and 3. It assumes that the type of damaged personality that gets off on rape is “teachable.” If threat of jail doesn’t do it, I don’t think touchy/feely crap is going to make a dent. In fact, Marcotte seems to me to have *more sympathy* for the poor rapist — who only rapes because he’s so misunderstood by society — than for his potential victims.
          IOW, she’s full of shit.

        • 49erDweet (D) says:

Does she have a suggested lesson plan for “teaching men not to rape”? If so, can it be modified to include not to lie or not to steal? She could make millions.

  11. votermom says:

    The Hypocrisy of Liberal Feminism

What could possibly go wrong with Salazar’s well-intended attempt to save mankind from the histrionics of confused, unhinged females when, in a show of liberal-grade we-know-better-than-you stupidity, the University of Colorado (UCCS) actually advised women to scream, run away, take your abuse like a good little girl, explain you’re menstruating, and vomit or otherwise soil yourself. Salazar and the UCCS do not feel you should endanger your attacker but should make yourself a less desirable victim.

Less desirable, perhaps, but still a victim.

Yes, the party that fancies themselves champions of women’s rights and equality have a politician who openly stated that he wished to infringe upon the Constitutional rights of women because he feels they may be confused in their tiny female brains about what an actual sexual attack is. After the Akin debacle you would think that Salazar would be debased in equal measure, but the irony is that liberals are less offended at a case of legitimate misogyny than they are at the well-deserved mockery of such sneering idiocy.

go read the whole thing here

    • yttik says:

      That was well done!

I liked this part, “Liberals have spent so much time chasing victimhood down the rabbit-hole that they can no longer comprehend life without it.”

Yes, that’s the part that has sent us into upside down world. If you think about it, it’s a real conflict of interest. You can’t have a party that revolves around victimization trying to solve problems because if they actually did anything to empower anyone, they wouldn’t have an ideology anymore.

    • jjmtacoma says:

Make yourself an “undesirable victim”? Does this guys really think women who are raped don’t pee their pants/skirt in fear already? Or throw up?

Rapists aren’t just trying to have nice “proper” sex with a slightly unwilling woman – rape is about violence and control.

It also doesn’t have to involve contact from the rapist that might include disease risk to them. This is so amazingly stupid and uninformed.

I realize there are many different rape situations and some of those do not include deadly force or the woman fearing for her life. While this man might be confused to tell the difference, I think most women can.

      • votermom says:

Ya know, wimmenz, just gonna go pop pop pop at everyone if they get a gun.

        • jjmtacoma says:

          Too funny VM!

I’ve been watching this story for days but it is getting beyond stupid.

I think I understand Salazar’s fear because the guy comes from the good old days when girls were trained to say “No” and the boys would try to change their minds (but not technically force them). By today’s standard, that *could* be a date rape but also today girls can actually say “Yes” if they want to.

It is possible that Marcotte is thinking from a date rape perspective and I agree that shooting a guy for attempting a date rape *might* present a difficult legal case – You agreed to go out, no marks on your body, no weapon besides yours…

But, if a woman is terrified enough so that peeing herself, claiming to have her period and/or a disease is an option… That is on a different level.

  12. myiq2xu says:

  13. fernschild says:

Marcotte repeatedly states that if you shoot your would-be rapist you will go to prison for murder. The heck is she talking about?

    • DeniseVB says:

I don’t even think Amanda knows what she’s talking about. Like the chart (wmcb?) posted the other day shows about the same fringe % who are anti-gun are also pro-abortion. Makes no sense to me either.

    • angienc (D) says:

She’s as ignorant of the law as she is about feminism.

As yttik posted the other day (and I stole & twitted):

I’d rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

    • yttik says:

There is still bias in the justice system. Society, (including alleged feminists, apparently,) is not too comfortable with the idea of women defending themselves. Salazar’s recent comments reinforce this, he’s concerned we might make a mistake, act aggressively, injure some innocent man. Maybe you ladies better not have a lethal weapon, here have a ballpoint pen instead.

Salazar, Marcotte, are not alone in their thinking, there is this idea that if women are granted any power, we might go on the offense rather than the defense and start “pop-popping” anybody who pisses us off.

      • votermom says:

Salazar’s recent comments reinforce this, he’s concerned we might make a mistake, act aggressively, injure some innocent man.

Because pigs like Salazar recognize deep down that they do treat women like shit, so they are uncomfortable with the idea of armed women who might be disinclined to shut up and take it.
Heaven forbid that he be required to change *his* behavior.

      • votermom says:

      • yttik says:

There’s a woman in Florida, Marrissa Alexander, who is currently serving 20 years for firing a warning shot. Many feminists have latched onto this case as evidence of bias against women who try to defend themselves. What they don’t seem to be aware of is that the WOMAN who prosecuted Marrissa, is the same one who is going after Zimmerman. The left will scream and holler about how Zimmerman is a murderer and stand your ground laws are wrong, and yet complain because stand your ground laws didn’t work in Marissa’s case.

Needless to say, neither Zimmerman nor Marissa’s cases are quite as cut and dry as the talking points suggest.

The thing is any group of people who can always make it through TSA screenings becomes the group that terrorists will attach a bomb to. They are terrorists after all and don’t value any human life. The fact that the cultures who breed terrorists don’t value females or disabled people makes them even more likely to be seen as disposable by men carrying out attacks. Old women are another example, if they always walk through search points then all you have to do is tell them they must carry this suitcase bomb or their family will be harmed. By not checking a group of people you make them targets.

      • HELENK says:

TSA has not caught a terrorist yet. from their actions they must give priority to resumes sent from the sex offenders registry

        • votermom says:

They should adopt Israeli airport screening procedures – much less intrusive but a lot mroe effective. But they, horror, use profiling.

        • 49erDweet (D) says:

Not only is she wrong, she’s a liar. Quel surprise.

Once upon a time you didn’t teach your slaves to read and write because knowledge was power and they might use it against you. And here we go again. Don’t give women power, the ability to defend themselves, they might use it against you. And the women who enable the men in their attempts to control other women are the lowest of the low.

Amanda Marcotte needs to take a long look in the mirror and think hard about where she’s coming from. I could demand that she’d just shut up, but that would make me like her.

Liberal women are in to fighting rape and violence against women by holding huge marches in their magic empowering lingerie and stilettos. All of the recent accidental shootings where kids got a gun around here, were guns that belonged to men. The women I know who carry keep it in their purse, loaded and LOCKED but they keep it close.

So, let me see… Toure’ would prefer that the Hysterical ladies don’t arm themselves against imaginary threats because they should worry about kids and not imaginary rapists? What a clueless ass.

A neighborhood near me is filled with “creative class” people and voting precinct that was 98% Obama in 2008. Five years ago, the typical response to a robbery, murder, police shooting, etc. in another neighborhood was that the perpetrator was let down by society, police brutality, protests against incarceration rates, etc.

Over the past year, this neighborhood has become the “shopping mall’ for the boyz; with daytime break-ins and night-time armed home invasions. The Facebook discussions from this area are now about arming up, where are the cops, why aren’t these people in prison forever, etc.

Wake up, people!!! This sequestration is looming, and SOMETHING MUST BE DONE to prevent a 3% decrease in our planned future budget increases!

WTF is your problem? Call your senators!! Do you WANT to go back to the apocalyptic wasteland of zero govt services, mass starvation, and Somalia-like nightmare that existed at the spending levels of a few years ago???!!!! Because that’s where we are headed, make no mistake.

Yes, the “cuts” being hyperventilated over don’t take us even to the spending levels (adjusted for inflation) of 2008, but the point is you need to PANIC that criminals will be roaming the streets and emaciated children will be staring at us with sad eyes from their powerless and waterless schools if we Do. Not. Act. Now! to stop Washington from accelarating their spending slightly less than the amount they had planned to accelerate!

To prove how serious this is, politicians are assuring us that the very first thing to be cut-in-the-sense-that-the-budget-will-stay-pretty-much-the-same will be the thing that YOU find important! Schooooools! DEFEEENSE BUDGEEET! Feeeeelllllons will be released on the streeeets!!! Every one of those govt services that YOU depend on will *poof* disappear if they get a 2% rather than a 5% increase in budget.

How can you look at all the posturing, the wailing, the DISPLAY of heart-stopping fearmongering in Congress and the Whitehouse and not be moved to ACT??!!
