“You Will Regret This”

Business Insider:

BOB WOODWARD: A ‘Very Senior’ White House Person Warned Me I’d ‘Regret’ What I’m Doing

Bob Woodward said this evening on CNN that a “very senior person” at the White House warned him in an email that he would “regret doing this,” the same day he has continued to slam President Barack Obama over the looming forced cuts known as the sequester.

CNN host Wolf Blitzer said that the network invited a White House official to debate Woodward on-air, but the White House declined.

“I think they’re confused,” Woodward said of the White House’s pushback on his reporting.

So now the “most transparent administration ever” is threatening reporters who tell the truth about them.

I’m not making any predictions but this is the kind of thing that can be a game changer. If the media turns on Obama he’s toast and they don’t like it when one of their own gets attacked.

The distant noise heard was only a crack in the ice field. The thaw is not yet here, but spring can not be held back by threats from “very senior White House officials”. Put out the bird seed and pop some corn. This will be epic. “The bigger they are,……….”

No. Who has the most disposable income, DEA or the cartels? Makes perfect sense. Money talks, public service employment walks.

NARCs are notorious among Cops for going over the edge. It’s something about with whom they spend their tine, IMO.

  10. So many suspects when they say “senior White House official” My bet is ValJar. Hope he takes screen shots and downloads them to a flash drive.
And then buries the flash drive in a jar in the backyard.

Salon is tweeting “Bob Woodward has lost it, let’s all stop indulging him.” Josh at Talking Points Memo is laying bets on when Bob “goes full birther”. The Progs are sneering that Bob Woodward is and always has been a dirty right-winger.

I’m banking on “senile” and “racist” entering the mix soon.

Yep, the Fourth Estate is dead. They are circling the wagons for their Precious Leader, not their long-respected colleague telling the truth. It’s very Jacobin. “He has betrayed the revolution! Off with his head!”

It’s almost as if someone, somewhere were posting talking point memos, but in this land of Freedom of Speech we all know that could never happen.

You forgot “He was always a Republican”. Expect the ex-wives (if he has any) to surface soon with stories of how cheap he is and he kicked the dog too!

        • leslie says:

I think the ex-wives are probably gone (wasn’t Nora Ephron one of them?) That story can be seen in “Heart Burn”. He’s most likely always been a Dem Lib. the only wagons that get circled these days are around the First AA pResident. and don’t dare try to break through that circle. He is doomed.

i appreciate what bob’s doing, but i’m sorry, this is incredibly naive on his part:

“I think if Obama himself saw the way they’re dealing with some of this, he would say, ‘Whoa, we don’t tell any reporter ‘you’re going to regret challenging us.’”

really, bob? you don’t think obama knows what’s up? obama really has these people fooled.

    • Mary says:

It’s Woodward’s way of calling out Obama. He doesn’t believe it’s true….he just sets Obama up for blame if O doesn’t denounce it.

He’s been dealing with political hacks most of his life, our Woodward has. 🙂

WH thought they were winning the sequestration PR fight but got
derailed by Bob Woodward with his Op Ed piece in Wapo late last week (he still keeps his asst managing editor title there, even though he doesn’t actually work there), Sunday shows, earlier this morning on MSNBC, etc. So they foolishly emailed him (couldn’t an underling just call his assistant or someone?) and were
caught in the act. Now Woodward has them by the balls. He could have laid low and waited for the right time to make the email like bombshell. He immediately upped the ante and went on CNN. So he is ready for the fight. This is not the Bob Woodward we knew, the legendary suckup for his sources.

This is what I think is happening. Bob is genuinely concerned for the country and aghast at the WH behavior. He is known for his Republican leanings. But I think there is more to
this. He already wrote his Obama book. So he has no use for the Obots. He is probably writing his next book. That book may be about Dems’ downfall, corruption, Repubs coming up,
Obama’s second term blues, etc. So by making them mad by calling them ‘mad’, he is provoking them to make more mistakes and cause a bigger drama. Aah, he wants them to write his book for him.

    Bob Woodward, the evil genius.

    Barack Obama and Me

It’s not quite eight in the morning and Barack Obama is on the phone screaming at me. He liked the story I wrote about him a couple weeks ago, but not this garbage.

Months earlier, a reporter friend told me she overheard Obama call me an asshole at a political fund-raiser. Now here he is blasting me from hundreds of miles away for a story that just went online but hasn’t yet hit local newsstands.

It’s the first time I ever heard him yell, and I’m trembling as I set down the phone. I sit frozen at my desk for several minutes, stunned.

This is before Obama Girl, before the secret service detail, before he becomes a best-selling author. His book Dreams From My Father has been out of print for years.

    Just sayin

  34. insanelysane says:

In January, I attended some speaking engagements in Wash DC during the Inaugural week. Bob Woodward was one of the talks I heard.
We watched All the Pres. Men first and then he spoke for almost 2 hours about the whole affair. He closed with saying that every white house is covered in secrecy. That we citizens see about 2 % of the truth. It’s the 2% they WH want us to see….
but he went on. There are, however, many people who know 100% of what goes on. And sometimes you can get them to disclose. If that happens then the game changes.
    That’s what happened with Nixon.

Woodward knows very well how it works.

Oh and thanks to all for the TWEETS. I’m not on Twitter but I appreciate the posts above.
