Sequestermas Open Thread

It’s still a few minutes before midnight out here on the Left Coast. Sequestermas hasn’t struck here yet but the east coast has gone silent and I fear the worst.

I’m not gonna waste time writing a post because there won’t be anyone here to read it. Maybe someday our descendants will find the old servers in the ruins and recover and decipher it.

May God have mercy on our souls.

I’m going down to my bunker now.

When did having a government job become a lifetime entitlement to pay and benefits?

What is wrong with laying off government employees if we don’t need them anymore?

The bigger problem for the government is the looming end of the continuing resolution (CR) at the end of March. I seriously doubt that there are many agencies/departments out there that have been spending thinking the sequestration wouldn’t happen. They have been operating under that budget paradigm for this FY spending at sequestration levels already; well simply because it was in the law. The bigger problem is that Congress has not passed a budget for FY13 and if they actually get their act together and do so when they have to address the end of the CR this month – the outcome of that is what could play havoc with budgets and cause a necessary RIF of employees to address a sudden short fall in funds for the rest of the FY.

LOL, we can only hope! The East Coast has all the politicians and the pundits. The sacrifice just might be worth it.
