I grew up listening to a little bit of everything. I mean that literally – Ferlin Husky, Marty Robbins, The Carpenters, Ray Conniff, Gospel, The Beatles, Benny Goodman, Tony Orlando and Dawn, Sonny and Cher, John Phillip Sousa, you name it. These days I mostly listen to Country and Western.
But my true love is Rock and Roll. Heavy Metal. Guitar tracks that will knock you on your ass played by some of the greatest musicians who ever lived. Drum tracks that rock your world.
Music that will blow the cheap speakers right out of your Chevy.
backtrack’s sequester song
My HS band used to play this during football games.
Don’t forget Albert Lee, the most underrated awesomest guitar player bar almost none. Yes, his genre is country, rather than rock (and he’s British, go figure, LOL). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcrKVaxCJj8
Love the comments too. Apparently telling Albert Lee how to play is like telling Picasso how to paint đŸ˜‰
The first record album I ever bought was “Frampton Comes Alive”
Oh, I still love Frampton (maybe more than “back in the day”)
the guy that many rockers learned from
Les Paul is one of the few people with his own section in the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame.
He didn’t invent the electric guitar, he only perfected it.
one of my favorite Les Paul songs
Imagine if he had lived another 20 years:
The good die young,
and the really good die even younger.
I remember where I was when Jimi died.
I’m a little young for that. I still remember where I was when I heard that Elvis died. I also remember where I was when I heard about Lynyrd Skynyrd and Keith Moon. (Not the same place)
I saw John Bonham in concert 1 month before he died.
Elvis – In my car driving on Hwy 59 just south of Olive Avenue in Merced (crossing the Santa Fe tracks)
Lynyrd Skynyrd – 1st period at Merced High my senior year.
Keith Moon – Diner behind the AFEES station in Fresno. I was eating breakfast the day I went active duty in the army and I saw it in the newspaper.
another one who died too young
That was a bad year for rock gods.
If Ludwig Von Beethoven had been born in the middle of the 20th Century he would have been a rocker.
Old Luddy knew how to rock the house.
Speaking of rocks, a meteor streaked across New England east coast https://twitter.com/votermom/status/315263516120608768
I almost went to this concert. Lots of kids I went to school with were there. It was a “Day on the Green” at Oakland Coliseum in the summer of ’77
my daughter loved this song
I taped the whole live aid concert in 1985. converted to dvds several years ago so each of my kids had a copy. gave some to friends. still have the dvds
my darling little angel daughter went down to the parking lot of the stadium and she and her friends were selling beer.
my daughter the teen boot legger
this is one of those stories that your kids wait until they are grown up and out of the house before they tell you.
as I was writing this the darling angel called me. she is all grown up and a mom now
saw him in 1976 at the tall ships festival at Penns Landing in Philly.
Projected 39% in our state
And then there is Joe Perry:

good article on the lobby bunch
Homage must be paid:
one of my daughter’s favorites
My husband saw Led Zeppelin’s last two concerts in the US. Of course, no one knew at the time that would be it.
A few years later he saw Paige, Clapton, Beck, etc, etc do a benefit concert for Ronnie Lane (The Faces) which ended with all three on stage.
And I was too young to be let out of the house for any of these….lol
the old timers
bet there is a lot of chair dancing going on with this post
I’m a HUGE fan of BLONDIE !!!
this one ok???
one Halloween a boy dressed like KISS came to our door, my husband thought he came for candy. the boy explained he came to see my daughter. Joe was not a happy camper
Yes “”. That works. I’ve danced on stage with Ms DH. I think the best music video is MeatLoaf !!! Paradise by the dashboard light
Meatloaf is awesome. He was great in Fight Club too.
