Boston marathon suspect arrest after machine gun and grenade battle in the suburbs…but other is still on the loose

One of the Boston bombing suspects was in custody this morning according to the city’s Boston Globe newspaper and another on the loose after a dramatic shootout in the suburbs of the city.

Explosions and machine gun fire rocked the Watertown area hours after a police officer was shot dead on the MIT campus.

The city descended into chaos on Friday morning as police dramatically held a suspect at gunpoint after multiple shots and explosions were heard in the suburb of Watertown

Police screamed at reporters on the scene to turn off phones ‘if they want to live’ as they hunted for the suspects – fearful that explosives could be remotely detonated.

Dozens of police officers, FBI agents, national guard, K-9 units and SWAT teams rushed to Watertown after midnight after a reported car chase involving two suspects in a black 2013 Mercedes.

The best coverage by far has been on Twitter. Here is the BPD scanner.

Some reports say the first suspect is dead.

I wonder if they got in on Bronco’s special visa program for young radicals? And right before his “landmark” and “historic” immigration push and propaganda. As a heathen I think the great spirits are pissed with this administration.

Give great thanks to Bronco for their presence. Do you think they had toasts some kind of smell test to waltz in here with th approval of TehOne?

      • leslie says:

Just heard they were here “legally”. And they are “permanent residents” here. What does that mean? How is it that it takes less than 1 year to become a “permanent” resident?

        • Lulu says:

I’m sure we will find out. And just in time for immigration reform. No wonder Bronco didn’t want to talk endlessly about it like other photo ops involving corpses. We’ll find out what last years selected group du jour was admitted (legally ahead of others waiting patiently for visas) based on ideology or ethnicity.

Zubeidat K. Tsarnaeva, 45, who shares an address with the two men and could be their mother. “Loss prevention from Lord & Taylor called to report they had detained a shoplifter. Zubeidat K. Tsarnaeva, 45, of 410 Norfolk St., Apt. 3, Cambridge, was arrested and charged with larceny over $250 (women’s clothing valued at $1,624), and two counts of malicious/wanton damage/defacement to property.”

The bombs were dropped essentially on either side of this store.
Fox just said the father is in Russia. Did the parents return because of legal troubles and leave the sons here? The father also said the 19 year old was in medical school so I don’t think he is very reliable.

    • Lulu says:

“larceny over $250 (women’s clothing valued at $1,624), and two counts of malicious/wanton damage/defacement to property” is tearing stuff up in the store. Was this religiously motivated?

        • Lulu says:

I don’t know but it looks like this family became more and more isolated by their ideology or something in this country. This part of the reason that I think open immigration is a bad idea.

        • votermom says:

That’s what’s happening in France because of “multi-culturalism”.
Assimilation is the only way to make sure immigrants become patriotic Americans, imo.

        • Lulu says:

Not everyone can fit into a new culture. They have to be open to it to begin with.

        • Jadzia says:

VM you know how much I respect you, but having been involved with the immigration process both in the US (husband was the immigrant) and France (I am the immigrant), my experience has been that the French government does a lot more to force assimilation (particularly in the area of women’s rights, but also with respect to language and the secular nature of the state) than does the U.S. Not only was I required to prove (through an incredibly rigorous test) that I can speak French at the high school level (not easy) even to apply for citizenship, I had to take classes in French government and the French culture just to get my 10-year resident permit.

That’s not to say that we don’t have problems (I guess that’s a euphemism for the horror in Toulouse and the ongoing problems in the banlieux) with Islamic radicalism. We do. But I don’t think French immigration policy (which was tightened up under Sarkozy; the Socialist government hasn’t changed those policies because all their efforts are apparently going into getting gay marriage passed) is the reason.

And just as an aside, although the criminals in the banlieux are certainly doing their cause no favors by their actions, some of their grievances aren’t completely illegitimate. It’s an issue not just here, but in Germany as well — people got brought in a few generations ago to do hard manual labor for which there weren’t enough workers, their French-born kids were told in school that they were French, and then when they went out to try to find jobs a little better than what their parents had, few white French people would hire them. (To this day, many French employers require you to attach a “color” photograph, so to speak, to your CV.) Frankly, it is shocking to me the kind of r*cism (the real kind, not the kind that the Obots are always shrieking about) that I hear coming out of people’s mouths here on a daily basis. It’s like living in a village full of Archie Bunkers, only with better food.

Shorter version: I think the US and France are apples and oranges here.

LMAO at the naked guy, anybody know the back story there?

This entire event does not bode well for the immigration bill that’s for sure. I was under the impression you had to be a citizen to vote, so why were “legal residents” registered to vote???

Also, all of you that are from Boston area…..don’t they have strict gun control laws??? Limits on magazines and such?

I figure the suspect is surely out of bullets by now, because obviously he wouldn’t violate any gun laws

Thank you Obama for such an incompetent dweeb in charge of DHS. My apologies to the Saudi boy, unwrapping the foil from my head now….

    • Somebody says:

Oh I don’t know how tinfoilish raising questions about the Saudi is. Like you it didn’t sit right with me. I think there are a lot of things going on behind the scenes with that story, most of which we’ll never know.

Clearly the boy has strong family/clan ties to terror. On that basis alone I question why he was allowed to come here. Nope put your tinfoil hat back on, I think there is a lot more to that particular story. If nothing else, his connections would certainly prove embarrassing to an administration hell bent on amnesty/immigration reform. One of the base lines of the legislation proposed would fast track a lot of people just like this young Saudi AND encourage him to stay here after he finished his education.

SOooooooo even if he’s not part of a sleeper cell, he brings to the forefront some touchy subjects…….out of sight out of mind.
