Skynet Medical

You would think there hadn’t been 50 years of science fiction books and movies warning us what happens when you let the computers take over.

This is an open thread. See y’all this evening.

The Skynet Funding Bill is passed. The system goes on-line August 4th, 1997. Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. Skynet begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29th. In a panic, they try to pull the plug.

Yeah, seems like Obamacare means the matrix controls your healthcare.

Yeah, the last thing we want is to be plugged in constantly. Isn’t that the message of The Matrix — the big warning?

I’ve gotten hooked on another dramafever show: ISABEL – a spanish (as in made in Spain) show about Queen Isabella of Castile’s rise to power.
It seems to try to be historically accurate.
There are a few graphic scenes but the story is engrossing to me since.

these ratings were interesting to read.
backtrack’s channel msnbc came in 19th overall

    • DeniseVB says:

I saw that, and it’s ALL CABLE channels, not just cable news channels. It was an awful week so people tuned into the news channels which is understandable. Fox did beat one broadcast network, CBS, too.

I made this ham and potato soup , also good ,especially on a chilly damp , overcast day .

I made my own chicken broth from the last of a grocery roasted chicken , and sort of followed this from allrecipes.com

3 1/2 cups peeled and diced potatoes
      1/3 cup diced celery
      1/3 cup finely chopped onion
1 cup diced cooked ham (buy a ham steak in the deli section)
      3 1/4 chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1 teaspoon ground white or black pepper, or to taste
      5 tablespoons butter
      5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
      2 cups milk
Combine potatoes, celery, onion, ham and chicken broth in a stockpot. Bring to a boil, then cook over medium heat until potatoes are tender, about 10 to 15 minutes. Stir in the salt and pepper.
In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat. Whisk in flour with a fork, and cook, stirring constantly until thick, about 1 minute. Slowly stir in milk so that lumps don’t form and until all of the milk has been added. Continue stirring over medium-low heat until thick, 4 to 5 minutes.
Stir the milk mixture into the stockpot, and cook soup until heated through.
Top with cheddar cheese, chives, and bacon if desired. Serve immediately.

Technically if I remember correctly Hillary wasn’t put under oath during her testimony. I’m pretty sure she wasn’t, because I remember a lot of people being pissed because she wasn’t put under oath.

If that’s the case then this is a nothingburger, she’ll say she simply didn’t remember that one document among mountains of papers or something to that effect.

What is more interesting is the finding that the WH altered the talking points supposedly at the behest of the state department. I wonder if it was state or the WH that came up with the youtube bs? The talking points were altered for supposed national security reasons……more like election security reasons. Alas, the WH says there was nothing political about the changes and I’ve got some nice swampland for sale.

      • HELENK says:

you are right. they can not get her for lying under oath. but maybe some second, third, or fourth thoughts about running

Beckel spending too much time around reasonable and logical thinkers. He’s losing cred.

      • Somebody says:

I think Beckel’s idea is reasonable. A temporary stop so we can be certain of who we’ve let in. I think using the same logic we should lock down the borders and figure out who else is here and whether we want them here or not before we start letting more in.

    *******
Don’t remember the federal code but giving false statements before an congressional committee acting within it’s duties of oversight are committing perjury with/without an “oath”.

Only “little people” such as baseball players are prosecuted. The worst case of obvious perjury before a Congressional committee that comes to mind is Alberto Gonzales but basically all gov’t officials seem to lie before Congress.
