The Power Of Delusion

From Somebody in the previous thread:

I am shocked by people unwilling to see the truth. I don’t know if we’ll ever know all the facts, but I think it’s very clear that there was an effort to cover up the truth and mislead the public. I’ve been part of campaigns for politicians and a couple of them later had a fall from grace. As close as I was to them (close friend in one case) and as vested as I was in them, not once was I blind to facts. What is it about certain politicians that causes people to lose common sense??

If I learned anything in the last five years it is that far too many people have an endless capacity for delusion. They will resist all attempts to tell them the truth.

Remember the Bible story of Moses leading the Hebrews out of Egypt? According to the story God sent multiple plagues down on Egypt, then killed the first born child in every home not marked with lamb’s blood. Then he parted the Red Sea to let the Hebrews escape before killing Pharaoh’s army. When they got to Mt. Sinai, Moses went up the hill to get the Ten Commandments and while he was gone the Hebrews started worshiping the old pagan gods again.

I used to wonder how it was possible that those people could be eyewitnesses to such great miracles and not believe in God. I don’t know about you but if I saw what they saw I would be a true believer in Yahweh.

I don’t wonder anymore.

Chris Steven’s animated corpse could have shown up and testified at today’s hearing and it wouldn’t have mattered.

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
– 2 Thessalonians 1-12

I guess delusion is a good way to describe some people today.

When all the facts are in it may well be there is nothing more to this story than incompetence, but I don’t anybody with common sense can deny that there was an effort to cover up and mislead.

Delusion might be an excuse for some of these bastages , but I do not believe for one second some of these Vile Progs are not aware they are lying their assess off .Cummings is one , Obama and Hillary absolutely know they are lying .They know , they are lying and they laugh when they get away with it .

    • driguana says:

But it’s the “cool factor” that allows them to get away with it. Bill Clinton lied his ass off but he was “cool” so that was ok. Hillary and Obama lie but they’re ok, too, cause they’re cool. But when Bush supposedly lied, there were bumper stickers! If you’re cool, you can lie.

LOL, I can never figure out why some people need to see the Red Sea part or The Virgin Mary’s face appear on a piece of toast, when in fact our very existence is the most amazing miracle of all.

I know you all will be just thrilled to know that redford is making a tv series on Chicago and the main character will be based on rahm emanuel

The SF Giants are in 1st place. The Dodgers (who were supposed to win the division because of all the great players they picked up) are in last place.

I saw that story Helenk, also there is news floating around out there that Speedbump had a radical cousin he hooked up with when he went to Daegestan or however you spell it. It sort of blows the self-radicalized, self-trained narrative, but I doubt the MSM will care about either story.

The irony is that some people will likely lose their jobs after all this, and bronco & co won’t be among them. The names Hicks, Thompson, Atkisson come to mind.

    • Somebody says:

It’s out today that Hicks was a Hillary supporter, totally doesn’t surprise me with him being a government employee and a diplomat. Apparently he switched to Obama after Hillary lost the primary.

I know lots of Hillary supporters were disparaging him yesterday. I guess it’s true the progs do eat their own.

I don’t think any of those men came to the decision to testify lightly. They know they’ve put their careers on the line, they know one day in the future they’ll most likely be fired…….for different reasons mind you, but fired none the less.

When the government wants to fire you they can do it in a hurry, I’ve seen it. Oh you bought a stuffed animal for your kid at the airport with your government charge card? Oh you were buying a sandwich and drink at the same time from the kiosk on your travel day and didn’t have cash. Oh you paid it back sure, but you broke the rules by buying it in the first place two years ago. Sorry we just did an audit and you’re fired…..true story. Another one is making threats, well a threat is in the eye of the beholder and the governement’s interpretation trumps…….loaded for bear can be construed as a threat, true story……and last but not least, don’t use your government computer for any personal business…….people do it all the time, they keep logs of everything and they can use it to fire you if they want, same with personal calls on a government phone. Those are all without scratching the surface of getting creative.

  11. Somebody says:

So riddle me this…..based on yesterdays hearings isn’t it a crime to obstruct justice? To impede an investigation, to obstruct Congress? It seems to me that’s what the state department did when Congressman Chaffetz went to Libya.

The other things like not sending help, those could be passed off as the “fog of the battle”, the incompetence of a big bureaucracy, same goes for the lack of security leading up to the attacks. To me personally I think they had ample warning to warrant better security, but I could see hiding behind the bureaucracy and getting away with that one……same for the lack of sending in help. Again, personally I fail to believe we had no assets, if we truly didn’t then why in the hell are we spending so much money on our defense if we basically have a third world military…….but I’m sure there were judgement calls involved that could cut either way allowing for plausbile deniability.

It may well come out that a conscience decision was made not to help, that would be a horse of a different color. More information may come out about reasons behind the woefully inadequate security, reasons that could bode poorly for the administration. But at this point it just looks like bureaucratic screw ups and some serious naivete on the part of the SOS and administration.

Lastly there is the cover up. I don’t think anyone with sound reason can deny that there was clearly an effort to mislead the public about Benghazi. Lying to the public isn’t a criminal offense though am I correct Myiq? I mean if lying to the public was a crime just about every politician would be in jail.

The saying about it isn’t the crime it’s the cover up, that goes to stuff like obstructing justice…….stuff like leaning on whistle blowers, trying to impede an investigation correct? Those are crimes, incompetence or being cynically political are not….am I correct?

I am unclear about the “talking points” thing. I’ve heard people say it’s a crime to change intelligence reports and it appears there was pressure to change the reports for one can only assume political purposes…….but is that really a crime?
