About That Video . . .

Roger Simon at Pajamas Media raises a good point:

Benghazi: The Video Vanishes

[…]

But the most extraordinary aspect of the talking points editing process is what was never mentioned, at least as far I have seen — the supposedly infamous Mohammed video. Not a word of that. While emailing each other, these officials from the CIA, State, the Pentagon, and the White House seem to have completely ignored it.

In other words, like the lady in the classic Hitchcock movie, the video vanished.

But if this mystery has a MacGuffin, it may be the provenance of that video Innocence of Muslims itself. Made in the California desert by a bizarre and hapless character named Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, working under the nom d’auteur of Sam Bacile, it first surfaced on YouTube in July 2012 in English language form. (I viewed the video — a trailer — and, like others, found it to be unwatchable amateurish junk.)

In September 2012 it, was translated into Arabic. Wikipedia does not provide the precise date or the identity of the translator. These would be interesting to know, obviously. The film apparently played in its full form in June as well, at the Vine Theater on Hollywood Boulevard, reportedly to an empty house.

In other words, hardly anyone saw this film, except for the trailer, yet it was blamed for demonstrations and burning in Cairo and all the carnage in Benghazi.

[…]

And who was Nakoula, a Coptic Christian immigrated to the U.S. from Egypt, in all of this? When he, as Sam Bacile, first took credit for the video, he identified himself to both the AP and the Wall Street Journal as an Israeli Jew with “100 Jewish donors” backing a putatively five million dollar film (that looks as if it could have been made for the cost of gas to his Mojave desert location).

Come se dice?

That weird notion disappeared quickly, but where did it come from? Who really is Nakoula Nakoula anyway, other than another deadbeat scalawag with a trail of six-figure unpaid bills? And why would an Egyptian Copt identify himself as an Israeli, of all things?

I don’t know. He’s in jail. Maybe someone should go ask him.

Nowhere in the final draft of the Official White House Lies Talking Points does it mention the video. So where exactly did that idea come from?

Hmmm?

The video story was floating around in the media right from the beginning. Who first mentioned it? What was their source? If we didn’t know whodunnit, how did we know what motivated them?

Okay, that’s three posts already today and it’s not even 8am yet.

I always wondered, where were the spontaneous demonstrations and blood lettings after Zero Dark Thirty was released ? I heard that was a watchable movie 😉

    • myiq2xu says:

I saw it with my son and a couple of his friends. We were so enraged that after the movie we slaughtered some infidels in the parking lot.

    Tim Carney:

Just a week before, at the Democratic National Convention, Obama had cited deposing Gadhafi as one of his achievements. John Kerry said, to raucous applause, “without a single American casualty, Moammar Gadhafi is gone, and the people of Libya are free.”

    • Of course not. His motivation is the same as Maher’s. It’s okay if Obama does it. It’s only outrageous bullshit if a Republican does it.

Mark Knoller tweeted, only 2 questions will be taken, one from the US press and one from the Brit press.

Probably time constraints. Obama’s jetting off to NYC this afternoon for 3 fundraisers. 😉

Well they asked him about IRS and he is blowing smoke. He will not tolerate it (as the elections is already over and it worked). Now Benghazi. Americans died, they were not adequetly protected, it was terrorism as he said the day after, and they have tried to figure it all out. His flunkies did a review board and they made recommendations and they are spending some money. It is all a sideshow. We did not know what happened or why. No one understood what happened. The emails are a non-issue but the Republicans are blowing this up. The talking points for Susan Rice matched what info I was getting. What is the big deal? More smoke blowing. He is very boring with the halting bullshit speak and I am now turning the tv off. His logic is defied he says because he apparently has none.

This is a seriously stupid person occupying the Oval Office. Dumb as a rock.

        • DeniseVB says:

Thanks for watching so I didn’t have to 🙂 Sounds as though he knew the questions were coming, and had a handy non-response to both.

Yeah, that halting speak, is he a great orator or what? 😉

        • Lulu says:

It was a mish-mash of nonsense. Platitudes mixed with bullshit in that fake halting (I’m trying to remember what to say) concerned brow wrinkled gibberish. It is a middling form of PR ass covering. He isn’t very good at it if you bother to listen and dissect it. I rate it sophomore in college level.

While I’m sure it was annoying (screaming babies, obnoxious loud drunks are too), not sure why a whole flight had to be diverted. Would have been cheaper to buy a round of free drinks for the rest of the cabin. Was her behaviour not noticed in the waiting area at the gate ?

    @brithume

Problem w/Obama admin explanations on both Benghazi and IRS is that improper actions in both cases dovetailed w/Obama political interests.

I am completely baffled about the you tube video, or rather, completely confused about who pulled that out of their behind and why?

That video is so bad, so unprofitable, so unprofessional, so pointless, that I wonder if the Gov made it? Or are they so stupid that they were just you tube surfing, came across the video and thought, ahh, there’s just the cover up we need? Regardless, it just does not compute.

Don’t think of it as a ‘death sentence.’ Think of it as a 280th-trimester medical procedure. #Gosnell

  14. Karma says:

While being on the topic of being intentionally obtuse (Maher).

As we all saw when Bush was pres the MSM couldn’t get enough of bin Laden and al-Zawahirir’s videos. Now none of the media can remember the video al-Zawahiri put out on 9/10/12 despite some early reports.

His legitimate video was dumped for the scapegoat version.

So it makes me wonder why the Republicans are also steering clear of the most senior al Qaeda leader calling for revenge on drone attacks, the day prior to Amb Stevens being assassinated?

Wouldn’t that be an easy sell? It’s not that video…. it’s this one that’s the smoking gun.
