Tom Price has a good incredulous face.
“You don’t believe she was aware of the criteria used by the division she headed?”

    • Lulu says:

She will get to explain what she didn’t know. Miller just said it was really bad management which means her.

I am liking Rep Jenkins …she is sad and sick to her stomach over this.

    She is good. 🙂

  15. HELENK says:

I wish we could see Jarrett under oath. she might have the answers that backtrack doesn’t. after all she does not spend as much time on the golf course or on vacation.

    • She goes on ALL the vacations – can’t let Backtrack out of her sight – he might speak to someone without her approval or coaching. And yes – I agree get Jarret in there under oath. Not that she would lie or anything….

  16. HELENK says:

Outgoing IRS boss Miller, who said earlier that the IRS’ conduct wasn’t illegal, now says he’s not sure – @guypbenson

  17. Lulu says:

George just said the IRS employees were not under oath and he had to rely on what that said. He is implying that they were lying to him.

  18. myiq2xu says:

I should make a post on this but I’m not:

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012 acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath.

The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it’s important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect “incompetence rather than malice or cover up.” Nonetheless, in the eight months since the attacks, this is the most sweeping and detailed discussion by key players of what might have been done differently.

“We’re portrayed by Republicans as either being lying or idiots,” said one Obama administration official who was part of the Benghazi response. “It’s actually closer to us being idiots.”

    • Lulu says:

What choice do they have? Full butt covering because they are stupid which indicates just how afraid they are.

    • Constance says:

Whatever they are they can’t be any worse than Obama who went to bed and then flew off to Vegas to fund raise while the whole Benghazi event was going down.

  19. DeniseVB says:

Can’t they just subpoena all the non-profit applications during this period in question and compare notes? Or ask who approved and mailed out the questionaires with the intrusive questions ? Did the prog groups get the same scrutiny?

There, I just saved the W&M Committee hours of Q’s.

  20. Mary says:

    Kinda OT:

I’m reading that the application for OFA (when it was Obama for America) as a 501(c) organization was approved in 3 weeks.

    And they’re NOT political??

  21. swanspirit says:

The Treasury Dept I.G. doesn’t keep a date book …… now I am sick to my stomach .

    • Mary says:

      Isn’t that stunning???

      • Lulu says:

But he has a day planner on his office computer. His assistant keeps it or he would have no idea what meetings and deadlines he has. The “book” part was the out.

    • DeniseVB says:

Remember when Obama said he didn’t keep any of his state senate papers because he didn’t have the room to store them? Media responded: Okey Dokey ? Same thing. Heh.

  22. Somebody says:

So the IG finally names some names. Lois Lerner and her immediate boss Joseph Grant…….the same Mr. Grant that has deep connections leading back to Dan Rostenkowski

  30. Somebody says:

Hearing over, a lot of I don’t know and butt covering. Miller certainly didn’t do anything to improve the image of government bureucrats or the IRS, what a weasel.

  31. Lulu says:

The chairman was not a happy camper when he gavel-ed the end of the hearing. His staff might want to go to lunch or make themselves scarce until he cools off. He was furious.

  32. HELENK says:

remember when GM got government money and closed dealers that voted republican?

    • swanspirit says:

Absolutely , they closed a really large dealership here on the shore close to Virginia , that was doing great business , for NO REASON other than they were Republican

    • Somebody says:

Helenk I had forgotten about that, but there were allegations of that back then.

You know sitting here listening to these congressmen tell chilling tales recounted to them by their constituents I just have to ask. Why now? This has been going on for years, what were they waiting for??? As your link points out Helenk this isn’t even the first example.

In asking those questions I’m not saying inquiry is not warranted…..I just want to know what took them so long. If I were in Congress and I had constituents telling me this kind of stuff; I would have obviously inquired through regular channels but after a certain period of time I would have started screaming my head off about it. Are they all such chicken shits they were waiting for in essence media coverage?

I guess that sort of sounds like blame the messenger or bite the hand that feeds you…….it’s not it’s just an observation.

      • lililam says:

You’re probably right, somebody, but another thing that I’ve found to be true is that many in congress do not read their mail or know about such trends unless they have intelligent and persistent staffers. Most of those who answer the phone or open the mail seem to be intimidated interns. It is conceivable that congressmbers asked them to do a search on IRS abuses in response to this fiasco.

    • DeniseVB says:

I remember Fox and Friends’ Gretchen Carlson’s dad’s dealership was on the list in Minnesota and how worried she was. It was shut down. He was in business for decades and always profitable, she didn’t understand why…….

On a related note, remember Sarah Palin’s legal fund to help her fight those nuisance lawsuits? It was shut down and she had to return our donations (most of us signed those checks back to SarahPac). Her attorney never understood why since the fund was set up exactly like Bill Clinton’s Monica defense fund.

  33. myiq2xu says:

Okay, I have to take in my bottles and cans to the recycling center and then come back and do some yard work. Then I’m hoping to take a nap before the SF Giants game cuz I’ve been awake since 5 am and I only got a few hours sleep last night.
