That’s Not Hannah Montana!

I really don’t understand why all the former Disney stars have to go from “innocent” to “hyper-sexualized” as soon as they flee the Magic Kingdom. Miley really does have some singing chops. The rest is a distraction.

Billy Ray must be so proud.

I bet they’re advised by consultants that they need to make a bold break from the disney mold so they don’t get typecast. Some sort of shock and awe move I guess. Sounds like a really stupid idea. How about just do the music you want, the way you want it, and stop worrying about any disney image handcuffs.

    • myiq2xu says:

It’s not like she needs the money.

    • Their agents insist they consult with image experts (to pad the expenses) and image experts pay a kickback to the agent and make the obvious recommendation. Budding star has nothing in their history to counter dumb advice, ergo. It’s Hollywood. We always do it this way.

I think what disturbs me is the thought of all those young girls out there watching MC and thinking that’s how “empowered” women behave.

Innocent??! They went from obnoxious, shallow, and self centered, to…..obnoxious, shallow and self centered. I suffered through episode after episode of Hannah Montana for years, and despaired over what we were teaching kids.

    • Surprise! There exists a dark counter culture within the Magic Kingdoms in which most youthful artistic performers willingly participate merely to uphold their street cred.

All of art and entertainment has become so conservative, it’s a big bore. What, you say? Conservative, you say? Yes. The established, decades old cultural narrative is moar sex, moar “rebellion”, moar rudeness, moar irresponsibility.

That was indeed cutting edge when we lived in an overly repressive society. Now? Now real cutting edge would be art and films and music sneering at the senseless selfish licentiousness of those boring old has-been nihilist farts. Real rebellion would be eye-rolling at “I want what I want right now” and instead a clarion call to responsibility and self-respect and culture-building. Avante garde today would be art that is NOT self-referential and mocking and meaningless – that proposes that beauty and order exist.

Dissipation is not rebellion, cupcake, it is downright conservative, because it is the past. You are falling in lockstep with the mores of boring old has-beens who desperately want to hang on to THEIR teenage rebellions. Shock for the sake of shock is BOOOOOORING. Overly graphic titillation is a huge weary yawn.

Shocking and cutting edge would be a *rejection* of all that shit. If you want to be a rebel, you have to rebel against what is, not what existed seven decades ago, that your goddamned grandmother rebelled against.

This is why art and films and books are so often not real, anymore than the politics are real. It’s this whole facade of chanting “We are rebelling against THE MAN!! Against accepted society!!” Um, no, you are not – you are fucking lockstep with what is appropriate and accepted and lauded. You are shining The Man’s shoes, dumbfuck.

  5. My guess is that there’s a hyper-sexualized culture within the Disney studios. Remember that guy from the BBC? Yeah, like that.

  6. On a different, but related note, I say Taylor Swift hawking Diet Coke in ad today, and it was pretty wholesome. Bet that burned Kanye’s chops right up. Wonder how Beyonce must feel, knowing she’s filmed grinding her hips and fake-fucking the floor for Pepsi, while Taylor just wears daisy dukes (in the traditional length, not the show-me-your-twat length these young girls do today) with a loose white blouse and a 9 and a 1/2 Weeks hat.

OT, but commenters at AoS are syaing that a congresswoman was on Levin’s show, saying that the immigration bill contains permanent funding for Dem-friendly groips similar to Acorn. Also, the regs now being written by HHS are doing the same thing with Obamacare: setting up permanent funding for Prog groups, giving them a cut of all premiums paid to do “healthcare education” or some such shit.

The more I watch, the more I believe that 2008 was a literal coup in America, and the GOP, with a few exceptions, are just rolling over for it to sell out the country and preserve their own dwindling fiefdoms of power.

Depending on what happens from here out, I may end up voting batshit crazy pointless Libertarian in 2016. The Democratic party is GONE, but perhaps there is still a chance to put a cattle prod to the other one to wake the fuck up. I will not vote for an establishment candidate in 2016, so if the GOP nominates one, it’s third party for me.

Not surprised. I’m beginning to think the United States of America is very soon dead and gone. There are just not that many people anymore who even understand or comprehend what this country once stood for, much less who would support or fight for it.

I’m frankly glad that I’ll likely be dead before another 40 years goes by, because I don’t even want to see the final destruction of that shining city on a hill.

Typical progs: They get support for ONE good idea (dealing with rape in the military via an independent chain of command), and immediately use that to springboard into getting their authoritarian groove on.

Now they want to ban all porn, or anything even approaching porn, from all military bases. Oh yeah, that is going to do tons for morale.

Progs are the new pinch-lipped Puritans. Nasty men! Nasty!

If porn is an incitement to sexual attacks, why are those attacks so prevalent in Muslim countries?

    • Constance says:

Maybe they are going to set up empowerfulated women in whore houses next to all military establishments and tax the hell out of them.

    • wmcb says:

I’m sorry, but porn is not the problem. Porn is as old as humanity. Men are VISUAL. It’s who they are, and there is NOTHING wrong with them enjoying looking at women in a sexual way, so long as the woman they are ogling is doing it voluntarily. Emasculating men is not the solution. I fully believe in standards that expect men to control their behavior. But I fucking HATE HATE HATE thought police in all their various manifestations.

I want to have a march about this. With big signs:

LET OUR SOLDIERS FAP!!!!!!!!!! THEY EARNED IT!!!!

        😀

        • mothy67 says:

In college I remember reading about studies that found that a lack of exposure to the usual erotic material often led to more dysfunction. And that ‘porn” provided catharsis. Not very difficult to prove what ever you are looking for in those studies, but in what I have encountered it seems that shame for natural or slightly non-traditional urges fuels what later becomes a raging fire.

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band?

        • Jadzia says:

Worse. My sister has it worse yet — she got named after an animal. And my brother got a double whammy — a first name that came from a movie, and a middle name that is essentially the male equivalent of “Bertha.” Damn hippies.

Sad to see Miley stuffed in to the sexist stereotype. I bet she’ll be the designated grinder at the next Superbowl.

Hey, let’s save this article for the next Tinfoil Hat Tuesday. And yes, I read the previous article in this series, and yes, this source DID predict that all the sources would dry up soon for reporters – which the AP was just commenting on that it was “strange” today.

Isn’t that unbelievable?? What, he wants equality and diversity in our anti terrorism ads because he thinks we have an equal number of white, Asian, female, gay, Christian terrorists?? This is like taking affirmative action right off a cliff. Sorry dude, but terrorists from those demographics are very rare. We’re simply not going to have an equal number on our most wanted lists.
