Wednesday Open Thread

addams ricci

Apparently the Texas Lege tried to outlaw tampons or enslave vaginas last night, but the Democrats are disputing who won. Or something. WMCB knows what happened.

Darrell Issa is up to something this morning. If I wasn’t planning on watching the Zimmerman trial I’d tune in.

As you may have noticed, my muse seems to have gone on vacation or something. This happens once in a while.

What’s up with you guys?

Probably just sleeping in. It is the crack of dawn, ya know.

Some call it “gone amusing”, myiqu.

And another Obama Top 50 bundler appointed to a key position….Pritzker is the worst of the lot…some would call her a slumlady and certainly had involvement in the prime lending fiasco…really disgusting….and the progs screamed about Romney’s money!!! So hypocritcal! It gets worse every day. I fell like I am on the titanic or trapped in some tortuous Shakespearean play…. Lay on, Macduff, And damn’d be him that first cries, ‘Hold, enough!’

  6. DeniseVB says:

Just spotted on twitter ….. S.E. Cupp leaving MSNBC (and Neblett!) to CNN’s revamp of Crossfire. No word on who her liberal partner will be.

‘Faces of Global Terrorism’ bus ads being pulled

  11. HELENK says:

this makes me sick. I have belonged to a transportation union for years and something like this was never called for or condoned.
I have walked a picket line and there was no violence

    • Labor violence is usually never SPONTANEOUS. It’s a planned tactic used by crooks to economically threaten an employer, and almost always unsupported by rank and file. The word “goons” is used for a reason.

      • wmcb says:

Bingo. Despite what the movies tell you, most of the employees don’t want that crap happening. It is orchestrated by the leaders, and the goons are often not even local.

  12. DeniseVB says:

I love reading about NY politics on their local newsie sites:

Weiner’s opponent appears to be a woman, where is the love for her in the feminist capital of the worrrrrrrrld ? Is she not qualified or something?

    • yttik says:

I was just thinking of a tee shirt that says, “Weiner, the New face of the Dem Party.”

    • NYC could have had their first lesbian mayor, the first lesbian mayor of a major metropolitan area. Instead they’re going to choose the guy who sent college coeds pictures of his dick.

      • DeniseVB says:

I have no problem with Quinn

I do have a problem with my “feminist” friends supporting a Weiner though. I just don’t why. Probably because he’s married to Huma who’s a Hillary friend and aide ?

      • sleepyhead says:

A lot of people are pissed off at Quinn for allowing Bloomberg to skirt term limits and run for a third term. Bloomie is a whiner and a scold and I, as well as many others, am sick of him. I am by no means defending Weiner, but he has been the only person in DC, as far as I know, who has consistently supported single-payer health care (a BIG pet issue of mine) and refused to be cowed into supporting Obamacare. (That’s not enough to make me ignore the rest of it and vote for him – I will probably vote for Quinn even though I despise Bloomberg – but he does have one redeeming feature.)

        • myiq2xu says:

The people of NYC have the right to choose their own leaders and representatives. If they want Weiner, they can have him. I vote in California.

      • Lulu says:

Houston has a lesbian mayor. I think it is a major US city. Dallas had a lesbian sheriff which I think is way cooler. Just saying. Of course both are racist red neck cities with intolerant backward citizens.

    • Lizzy says:

Quinn is head of the city council that over turned term limits law passed by referendum to allow Bloomberg to run for third term as major. He has become emperor of the entire world, not just NYC Mayor.

  13. Anthony says:

    Sorry, I just had to…

Hope this doesn’t offend anyone. I think its hilarious.

    • Constance says:

I’m glad to see some feminists who know how to mob and kick ass. I’m so sick of the helpless little victim east coast feminists.

      • DeniseVB says:

The same bill just passed in Virginia to prevent Gosnell atrocities and to clean up the abortion clinics to protect the women. Many clinics went out of business because they couldn’t afford (aka not profitable) the new codes. Wait? What? Clean clinics and properly sterilized equipment? It’s about safe, legal and rare, I’m very okay with that. It’s what Texas wants to do too.

    • wmcb says:

I found it appalling. They deliberately prevented a vote from happening by sheer bullying. Sorry, that is not democracy. Almost 70% of Texans supported this bill in its entirety. Only 14% of Americans nationwide support later term abortion.

This is not “feminists” this is a radical extremist fringe preventing the MAJORITY of Texas women from having their voice heard.

  14. myiq2xu says:

    DOMA decision coming now.

  15. HELENK says:

why is this not a surprise? Americans no longer able to tour the white house but those who ok killing Americans come on in , sit right down and let your hair hang down

Make gay marriage as legal as you want – the only way you’re getting me down that aisle is if you shoot rubber bullets at my fingers while I hold on to the church doors

    • DeniseVB says:

      So they overturned Bill Clinton?

    • Not the whole story. Just one section was nullified, the section applying to federal benefits. The section allowing states to treat marriages as unequal based on the gender of the spouses stands. The court punted, saying the lawsuit was not properly filed. That’s better than upholding it, though.

  17. HELENK says:

maybe this is why no arrests over Benghazi. muslim brotherhood and morsi involved? backtrack’s BFFs

    • Constance says:

I’m glad they are finally outing the reason absolutely nothing has been done about Benghazi except concocting a batch of lies to feed the American public. It has to be that the perps are official foreign military members and that is why we can’t arrest them. Their country isn’t run by a bunch of pansy asses so if we attack or arrest their people they will come after us.

      • wmcb says:

Not only foreign, Egyptian. Right before an election, that would have put the lie to Obama’s entire foreign policy and his vaunted Arab Sprong. He let those people die and then covered it up to perpetuate the lie that his Egypt policy had been a success.

  18. HELENK says:

    on the DOMA decision
federal benefits would apply. state benefits would not depending on the state

  19. HELENK says:

even democrats upset at backtrack over war on coal.
gee did he stab them in the back?? what a surprise. ” Hello Suckers”

  20. Since you asked, weird beyond weird this morning to wake up and find no new TCH post. {{shudder}} For an hour or so. Felt like commenting, “Is anyone out there”? The klown is definitely underpaid.
YD learned firsthand how cheapo airlines can afford to not actually fly you somewhere.

    • Constance says:

Agreed the klown is seriously underpaid in money, he does have our devotion and admiration for what it’s worth.

if this is true, what could be done about it

explains why all his college records are sealed

has anyone ever read when he got his citizenship back? when mom’s second husband adopted him he was made a citizen of Indonesia.

    • wmcb says:

Many of us on this blog have suspected that from the beginning. Something made him seal those college records.

    • Jadzia says:

I agree with WMBC re the reason for the secrecy on the college records. As for Helen K’s question, Dr. Wikipedia informs me that a person under the age of 18 IS permitted to hold dual citizenship, so if that was the law back when BO was a kid, he would never have lost his US citizenship.

  25. Internal Exile says:

Remember red-state fascism? Now we have blue-state fascism to go along with it. πŸ‘Ώ

To me, the most interesting things in USAmerican politics right now are the realignments–pitting authoritarians of the Right, Center, and what passes for a Left in the USA, against anti-authoritarians of the Right, Center, and what passes for a Left in the USA.

“May you live in interesting times.”–Old Chinese curse 😈

    • Internal Exile says:

Justin Raimondo has coined a useful term for the authoritarians across the political spectrum: Regimists.

    • Internal Exile says:

I have lost another bit of naivete recently.

I used to think that authoritarian leftists were found only in Communist countries and other such backward places, while USAmerican leftists were all groovy, hippy-dippy, pacifist, small-l libertarian folks, with the rare exceptions of nasty fringe-dwellers like the Weathermen or the Unabomber.

Maybe that was true when I was a kid (I turned 50 in May), but if so, no longer. 😦

      • wmcb says:

That’s me as well. The amount of authoritarianism that came boiling out of the left once they got a little power was shocking to many.

I don’t want to live in anyone’s Brave New World – whether or not I agree with them on some stuff has zippo to do with that.

How magnanimous. Better tell the Pope. He thought he was running the show…

    • wmcb says:

Notice how this fucker NEVER says: “The constitution does not allow, it would be unconstitutional for any president to…” He won’t say that – about churches, or NSA, or anything. He always couches it in “I have no intention to…” He always speaks as if he could if he wanted to, he just isn’t at present.

      • swanspirit says:

Absolutely , and what frightens me these days is that he will still be pulling any strings after he is out of office . We need a Republican back in office to offset this power monger and his minions .

FTR: I opposed Prop H8 and support SSM. The legal justification for the ruling today has nothing to do with the right or wrong of the issue.

      • wmcb says:

I opposed Prop 8 as well, but when I first read the ruling, I was like “HUH?!” How can SCOTUS claim to not have jurisdiction to either affirm or overrule a federal district judge? That made no damn sense to me. Are they just making this shit up?

I’ll go read the Jacobsen link.

  28. myiq2xu says:
    • SHV says:

A bit misleading, DOMA passed Congress by veto proof margins. The law also got some surprising “Liberal” Congressional votes. The theory at that time was that the “One man-One woman” faction had enough votes to pass a marriage amendment to the Constitution and DOMA was a holding action to prevent that.

  29. HELENK says:

so why are the liberals attacking Paula Deen?
read some of the words of the vile progs and they are saying them now not 35 years ago

  30. DeniseVB says:

one president believed in the American people
    the other president does not

  32. HELENK says:

    a must see

  33. Jadzia says:

This is a more political “open thread” than usual, so I hope it’s okay to ask you all to cross your fingers, or make a request to the deity of your choice, that I get the job that I am currently thisclose to getting. It’s been an extraordinarily crappy couple of years, and boy, could I use a little good news.
