Impartial Justice?

Docs: Justice Department facilitated anti-Zimmerman protests

A division of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) was deployed to Sanford, Florida in 2012 to provide assistance for anti-George Zimmerman protests, including a rally headlined by activist Al Sharpton, according to newly released documents.

The Community Relations Service (CRS), a unit of DOJ, reported expenses related to its deployment in Sanford to help manage protests between March and April 2012, according to documents obtained by the watchdog group Judicial Watch.

Sharpton, who promoted the Tawana Brawley hoax in the 1980s and in 1995 led a protest against the “white interloper” owner of a Harlem clothing store that ended in a deadly shooting rampage at the store, was a featured speaker at the March 31 rally, called “The March for Trayvon Martin,” where he advocated for Zimmerman’s prosecution.

CRS was established by the Civil Rights Act of 1964. According to the CRS web page, “The Community Relations Service is the Department’s ‘peacemaker’ for community conflicts and tensions arising from differences of race, color, and national origin. Created by the Civil Rights Act of 1964, CRS is the only Federal agency dedicated to assist State and local units of government, private and public organizations, and community groups with preventing and resolving racial and ethnic tensions, incidents, and civil disorders, and in restoring racial stability and harmony.”

A Department of Justice spokesperson said that she did not know off the top of her head what CRS’ role was in the anti-Zimmerman protests but is currently trying to figure out that answer. The Daily Caller will update this story upon receiving a statement from DOJ.

Seriously, WTF?

Our tax dollars are being spent to astroturf lynch mobs?

WTF, WTF, WTF. This is truly terrifying. It sounds like CRS’s mission is SUPPOSED to be community mediation type activities. Whipping up a frenzy of racial hatred has WHAT to do with “Justice,” “Community,” or any kind of civilized “Relations”?

I’m reading that the DOJ/FBI has been down there from day one interviewing witnesses & neighbors, looking for “racism” in the case. In fact , one of the defense witnesses said that under oath during testimony: her interview was with FBI, not the local cops.

Investigating officer admitted under oath he got lots of pressure to press charges, too—-he thought Zimmerman was honest and told the truth (self defense), but those “above” him wanted more. He was later demoted , and the chief of police was fired —-after the race hustlers and DOJ reps got more involved.

      True story.

Holy crap, the judge has been hammering Zimmerman (without allowing the defense lawyers to talk) about does he have any more witnesses. And she’s trying really hard to talk him into testifying. WTF?

    • Lulu says:

Or waive testifying. She has been trying to get information out of the defense about their tactics for the prosecution since day one. It is bizarre. Now this DOJ stuff makes you wonder if they are pressuring her. She has made numerous reversible errors in this trial and seems to make a habit of it as she was reversed on a self defense instruction to a jury just recently. I have seen judges get furious in courtrooms before but she lost it before lunch. She is totally unsuitable for this level of trial really any district level stuff. Maybe probate or something.

    • DandyTiger says:

Now she’s telling the jury that if Zimmerman refuses to testify, they can take that into account in their deliberation.

      • helenk3 says:

I guess what confuses me is that there are two trials going on because of jihadist terrorism. these acts occurred in this country. one at Fort Hood and the other in Boston. Americans were killed and injured in both.
there was a third trial going on about national security leaks and the msm did not talk about that either

The msm is talking about a trial where two young men made tragic mistakes and one died and the other has his life ruined. because race baiters in government and the media got involved.

why is this one more important then the other three? I do not understand the priorities

Welp, that’s just about the *least* surprising thing I’ve learned about the Obama administration.

  12. wmcb says:

The IRS, the DOJ, the EPA, ICE, ATF, NLRB, every govt agency we became stasi for the perpetual Obama campaign in January 2009. They became political arms for him.

Look, most presidents have, at some point, put a toe over the line here and there in abusing govt agencies for political ends. It’s not right, but it happens. Always has. But this? This is just in-your-face, fuck-you, I-own-the-govt BLATANT lawlessness. And he does it because he knows he won’t get called on it – not really. The press is dead, and the GOP are corrupt cowards or complicit.

The GOP is quiet because they can’t wait to do the same.

      • wmcb says:

Yup. It is harder than pulling hens teeth to find people who both a) want to run for office, and b) aren’t enamored of govt power.

Note: Not everyone who is enamored of govt power is necessarily a bad evil person. They may have, in their own minds, the best of intentions to “help”. They may think they *need* that power to do good things. They are wrong. Or rather, they fail to see that the tradeoff is not worth the good they might do. I’m not so stupid as to think that govt can’t do some good stuff. My problem is that historically, that power is ALWAYS abused eventually. My problem is that I don’t want that trade – not worth it.

What geographical area will the jurors come from? The news report says he was in federal court. Boston and Cambridge are in different counties so if this were state superior court, the Boston jury would look quite different than a Cambridge jury, which would pull from the suburbs as well. I usually get called for jury duty in Cambridge. How do they draw the lines for the federal court? I think he can get a fair trial if they can keep runners off the jury and can pull in jurors from outside the city.

I wonder if DOJ provides buses?

I just had dinner by I-95. I saw some buses loaded with AA’s. Perhaps there has been an uptick in Florida bus tours in the AA community? It surely couldn’t be that somebody was busing in people to protest and potentially riot, could it??? Sanford is about an hour and a half south of me.
