You say that like it’s a bad thing

One of many reasons I am glad I do not live in New York. From Allahpundit at Hot Air:

Jake Tapper to Spitzer: You’re kind of a sleazy privileged hypocrite, don’t you think?

I’m paraphrasing very loosely in the headline, but watch the clip. Tell me if it’s not a fair takeaway. And to think, Spitz is a CNN alum. Yowza.

Although it is sometime amusing to discuss the sleazy escapades of various politicians and other celebrities, I really don’t give a shit what they do on their own time as long as they aren’t doing it to me.

But it is nice to see a member of the media doing their job and asking tough questions of those who lead (or want to lead) our nation. The problem with Jake Tapper is he is inconsistent. He gets your hopes up one day and then lets you down by reverting to standard media behavior the next day.

Still, he’s better than most of his colleagues.

Sorry, that doesn’t really apply to Spitzer. Before he became NY governor he was the NY Attorney General — the person in charge of prosecuting illegal prostitution rings — when he was availing himself of services from such rings. Forget “morals” here — that is a clear conflict of interest that proves him unfit — IMO — to hold public office.

Of course, a majority of voters seem to want stupid done wrong,so we shall see.

I don’t vote in New York.

Neither do I — my last line was meant to cover that.

My main point was distinguishing the run-of-the-mill sex scandal that really is about a pol’s private life from Spitzer’s specific situation which directly involves a conflict of interest between what his public job was and his private life (hence, the quote from your post). In this case, what Spitzer was doing in his private life he *was* doing to NYers since it conflicted with his public duties.

I agree with angienc. What people do in their private life doesn’t bother me, but what they do in public office really does. Sptizer isn’t just a sleezeball, he’s a major hypocrite who abused the power of the office he was entrusted with.

Well, if yttik agrees with me, I *know* I’m right — actually, I *am* always right, but now I’ve got extra-validation, kind of being *doubly* right! 😉

the government took over the Mustang Ranch several years ago. could not make any money even with booze and women
spitzer is running against a Madam. Think the Madam would be better at running things than a former government official who spent the money and got caught

The best argument he made was the one where he pointed out that , if Trayvon was such a good guy , they would not have kept his history out of the evidence .
I can tell you , if my grandson had pictures even approximating some of Trayvons , the entire extended family would have been screaming about it .

protests in san bernadino and westwood. a silly white twit screaming about whites are so bad. maybe she should talk a walk through Chester Pa some night or have her car breakdown at 51st and Walnut in West Philly some night. call me a racist as you want but these silly twits get on my last nerve

there was a tragic mistake by two males. they had an arrest and a trial. a jury reached a verdict. they judged by the law which is as it should be.

so now thanks to the race baiters the country will go through at least a weekend of rampages, vandalism and possibly injuries or deaths.
    way to go fools
