Arrest made in vicious Pride weekend attack that was captured on video

An arrest has been made in the vicious June 30 attack on a 28-year-old woman during San Francisco Pride weekend. The assault was captured on a widely circulated video that enraged viewers.

It showed the woman seated on the sidewalk, dazed after suspects punched her and stole her purse and phone. Having gotten them, the assailant turned to leave, the returned for no reason other than to deliver a pointless, cowardly kick to the woman’s face, knocking her unconscious.

The video of incident, taken from a nearby store, went viral. The viciousness of the attack, and the fact that the attacker’s face was clearly visible, created an uproar in the city. Readers wrote to the Chronicle asking what was being done, and the Mission District police station fielded daily calls asking about the progress of the case.

The public concern paid off with numerous tips to investigators, leading to the arrest, last Friday, of Christopher Porter-Bailey, 23, of Oakland. Investigators say Porter-Bailey has had previous run-ins with the police.

Porter-Bailey is believed to be among a group of three to five suspects who may have been involved in a series of incidents on Pride Saturday, the annual block party in the Castro.

Investigators say there were a series of assaults and robberies that evening on Market Street between Civic Center and Castro Street. But this incident stood out for its blatant violence and the fact that it was captured on video.

    • ^This.

And your “submitted without comment” is all you need.

One of the commenters likened the hoodie to the Shroud of Turin

      • lyn says:

        That’s sick.

        • Anthony says:

They were being sarcastic. Here’s the whole comment. I thought it was hysterical

t will become the fanatical liberal version of the Shroud of Turin. Millions of those permanently enslaved on the Liberal Plantation will be bused in to view it preserved forever under glass, with the arms stretched out forming a cross. It will be worshipped and venerated. A relic of Saint Trayvon.

If the Smithsonian wastes one cent on this piece of crap, I hope there is a boycott.

        • lyn says:

Good. I almost lost my coffee.

        • Lulu says:

The hoodie is HUGE. It is not a child’s hoodie. O’Mara kept rolling it out and around to show the jury that it was made for a TRex. If the Smithsonian buy it I hope they understand that they are buying the evidence that convinced the jury that Trayvon was not a child. That and the dummy punching showed the jury it was not an innocent little scuffle. The Smithsonian should buy the dummy too. A nice matched set so to speak.

    Well, one comment…..sad, very sad

  2. Anthony says:

I wonder if the DOJ and the Dog Eater are going to come out and publicly decry this hate crime? At least here, we have video evidence and don’t have to just make shit up as we go along.

Pride day, black on white violence, a history of gay bashing from the AA community. Those are just three dots – maybe MSNBC can connect them?

  3. DeniseVB says:

Meanwhile, the media is saturated with the video of the “Armed Zimmerman” traffic stop. Yes, the media is totally worthless.

    • Constance says:

Considering the death threats Zimmerman has been getting he is smart to be armed at all times.

If you missed it, Michelle Malkin’s epic smackdown of Al Sharpton and calling out the corporate media and liberal Democrats for enabling the race baiter. Video at link.

You know she’s right since the vile prog sites are personally attacking her with their usual bigoted remarks 😉

Is it too soon to get upset about the Winter Olympics ?

I’m sure these athletes will be just fine, but there’s been pressure on Obama to boycott the Olympics entirely.

If only she had had the slippers & cocktails (erm) ready when poor Weiner got home after a tough day of sexting all day, then he wouldn’t have had to sext .. oh wait

        • Lulu says:

She was working two (one apparently illegal) JOBS so he could sit on his ass and sext and porn all day and night. Worthless creep. He needs a keeper. In a mental ward. If he hit a lick at a snake he would be too damned tired to do that shit.

It’s been especially heartbreaking to read about one of the victims’ holding off the terrorists for 20 hours. Obama and Hillary went to bed.

        • Lulu says:

That is why I do not want to hear any Hillary 2016 stuff. Talk to the hand Hill. If Cruz forms an exploratory committee I may send a few bucks just because it would cause acid indigestion and heart palpitations in DC.

I think a lot of Congress is being blackmailed because if this. 😡

    • DeniseVB says:

It seems that way and I think it goes back to the tinfoily threat against Chelsea Clinton in 2008. Nobody else has come up with a better explanation why Hillary caved that year 😉 Or why the GOP keeps rolling over on their backs and having Obama scratch their tummies. Heh.

    • Not only congress. Would also explain Justice Roberts el floppo.

      • DeniseVB says:

Oh yeah, I could see the Chicago Mafiaobama involved in that one too.

        • Carmelo Clandestine says:

This is a tempting hypothesis; it would explain so many things.

Maybe our “protectors” had their current snooping capacities, or close enough, in 2008–and Obummer was their man from Day One?

So, the unions are stooping to not only destroying city economies but to bottom dwelling scum buckets too ? I used to support the idea of unions protecting workers, but now they’re protecting their rights to vacay Club Med style….

Brandon Darby on interview of Robert Zimmerman

“It taxes everyone’s mind, knowing you have to stay in touch and in constant communication because of the threats,” said Zimmerman.
Anytime anyone goes out for anything, we all know about it. If my phone died, my family would be in a panic that they didn’t hear from me. It happened one time when my phone died and I fell asleep. My family really got worried and immediately started looking for me.

One specific threatening situation Zimmerman found himself in happened at a Starbucks in Washington, D.C. He discussed the situation and stated:
Someone was very ugly to me at a Starbucks. I was with an infant and her mother while her husband pulled the car around. Someone thought I was George Zimmerman. I said, no, George is in jail. They started saying, “we know you’re Zimmerman; it’s right here on the receipt…”
They pulled out their phones and started texting people and calling people. Someone finally noticed the receipt said Robert instead of George, or R instead of G, and they said ‘Oh, it’s not George Zimmerman’ and they all calmed down. Someone then said ‘Yeah, but you look like that Mother f***er and if you were anyone of the Zimmerman’s we were going to take you outside and beat the sh*t out of you.’ They were both Starbucks employees.

      Thanks for this.

Reminds me of the time when my son, Sonny, a Down Syndrome young man was competing in the NM Special Olympics in the 100 meter run at the University of New Mexico track. One young boy was really struggling and had fallen way back. Sonny saw him and went back and took him by the hand and they finished together, in last place, holding hands, to huge applause and tears in the stands. Sometimes it is simply not about competition, it is about unconditional love.
