    Keeping with the Broadway theme…

    Happy 79th birthday Julie Andrews…

    Jerry D. Slay

    July 28

Julie Andrews Turning 79 – this is hysterical!
To commemorate her birthday, actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan’s Radio City Music Hall. One of the musical numbers she performed was ‘My Favorite Things’ from the legendary movie ‘Sound Of Music’. Here are the lyrics she used: (Sing It!) – If you sing it, its especially hysterical!!!

Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,
    When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don’t feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin’,
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin’,
And we won’t mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break,
    When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I’ve had,
And then I don’t feel so bad.

(Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores. Please share Ms. Andrews’ clever wit and humor with others who would appreciate it.)

Lady Dowd is sharpening her knives for a Clinton campaign. She just loves to hate the Clintons, regardless of facts or policies – and her continuing ignorance about Obama’s dirty methods is just inexcusable:

“Because he doesn’t traffic in the unseemly nitty-gritty of politics that is mother’s milk to the Clintons…”

Oh puh-leaze. Please do us all a favor and stop pretending to be a journalist if you aren’t even going to make a passing attempt to acknowledge reality. After 6 years??? The elitist fog is just too thick.

I agree fif, I’m so over corporate media hacks and their opinions, from MoDo to Krauthammer, I love them/ hate them, like my family, only from a much further distance 😀

Like I said, she is such a parody of a woman. Honestly, what fanciful language and what a disorganized brain to process it all with.

Just read box office results. The $30 million pot comedy We’re the Millers beat $100 million Elysium if you include the 2 day head start Millers got. Even head to head over just the 3 day weekend, they still may beat Elysium.

    • Klown says:

The real key is week 2. People go to work/school during the week and talk about movies. Word-of-mouth beats hype.

      • 1539days says:

True, bad word of mouth will really tell the tale. In the case of MIllers, they made more than their production budget in the first weekend, which is an indicator that it will be a success. It will take more than a month for Elysium to do the same.

        • mothy67 says:

Believe the fate is a bit more dire than the box office prognosticators are offering. It will have to do very very well in the world market to come even close to recouping. It made its biggest chunk at the IMAX- 3D theaters. Attendance at those usually plummets faster than traditional houses. Foster and Damon probably have a back end deal as well and it probably won’t stand out from the pack when it comes to DVD either.

Witnessed one of the most tragic events I have seen in my entire life. I had to go to the hospital for an ear infection and as I have loads of fluid build up as a precaution they put me on IV antibiotics to make sure the infection was contained and cleansed. The guy in the room with me was less than 30 and he was having another toe amputated due to diabetes. This was going to be his 4th. I was unable to process what he conveyed. How could he not, in this country get care? He told me he was on disability and could not get assistance due to getting to much couldn’t afford his meds so he ignored it and it got bad. I tried to navigate the Disability and medical coverage posted online and what I gathered was that it takes two years after getting SS disability that you can qualify for medicare. Something called SSI is provided to people who didn’t earn enough money to qualify for SSD and they receive in PA 754/month plus health and a plethora of other services. 754 is also the max in PA to qualify for medicaid. Kidney patients and persons with substance abuse issues are the few that are given an exemption. I don’t disagree with those as it seems much cheaper to treat than to imprison and dialysis is life-saving but it just makes no sense to tell someone who has worked too bad while accommodating others who contributed little. I am fortunate to not at this time need help. It is all overwhelming and I can find nothing posted as far as schedules go. Preparation for what lies ahead is impossible, but I can tell you there is no way if it comes down to it I will go to an ER. My favorite thing I found— if you have a life debilitating illness or a short expectancy you might have to liquidate your funeral plot to get any coverage.
