Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro found hanging in cell

Ariel Castro, the man convicted earlier this year of kidnapping three woman, holding them in his Cleveland home for nearly a decade, and repeatedly sexually assaulting them, committed suicide in his Ohio jail cell Tuesday night, according to an Ohio corrections official.

A statement from the Ohio Department of Corrections said Castro, 53, was found hanging in his cell at the Correctional Reception Center in the town of Orient at 9:20 p.m. local time. After prison medical staff attempted to perform life-saving measures, Castro was transferred to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, where he was pronounced dead at 10:52 p.m.

Castro, a former bus driver, was sentenced to life in prison plus 1,000 years on August 1 for kidnapping and sexually assaulting Amanda Berry, Michelle Knight, and Gina DeJesus while holding them captive in his house. He even fathered a daughter with Berry, but was barred from seeing the child after a judge rejected his request for visitation rights as a consequence of his sentence. Investigators say the women were bound with chains, repeatedly raped and deprived of food and bathroom facilities. Knight told investigators she was beaten and starved several times to force her to miscarry.

In a rambling statement, he told the judge he was not a monster but a man suffering from a pornography addiction, saying “I’m not a monster. I’m sick.”

He cheated justice. He should have suffered in prison for a long, long time before he died slowly and painfully. On the other hand he will never rape again and he saved Ohio taxpayers a bunch of money.

I hope he burns in hell.

Montana judge reconsiders controversial 30-day rape sentence

A Montana judge under fire for his comments about a 14-year-old victim in a schoolhouse rape case has ordered a new sentencing hearing for the former teacher who received just 30 days in prison for the crime.

In setting the hearing for Friday afternoon, District Judge G. Todd Baugh said Tuesday that state law appears to require that a two-year mandatory minimum prison term be imposed against Stacey Rambold, 54, of Billings.

Rambold last week was sentenced to 15 years with all but 31 days suspended and a one-day credit for time-served. He began serving his monthlong term last week at the state prison in Deer Lodge.

“In the Court’s opinion, imposing a sentence which suspends more than the mandatory minimum would be an illegal sentence,” Baugh wrote.

This story may have more long term impact than that POS hanging himself and saving the taxpayers of Ohio a bunch of money. I think it is a good thing when obviously crazy judges get a review of their lunacy. Keeps them on their toes and their egos in check. Also gets them run out of office by voters.

Some rulings/verdicts make no sense at all unless:

        1. The judge was paid off.
        or
        2. The judge was insane.
        or
        3. The story is inaccurate
        or
        4. There is a big piece of the story is missing.

I’m guessing #2 on this one.

I saw a video clip of him trying to apologize for something. It was either the verdict, his comments, or being in office. I could not really tell. Senility is a not uncommon problem with judges who hang on too long.

  2. Ironic isn’t it that he “jailed” those young women for ten plus years but couldn’t even handle a few months in prison himself . Wonder how he was able to off himself so easily what with the extra supervision he was getting. This is a local story for me so I’m sure our paper will dig in for more details.

these monsters never can deal with consequences of their actions . Committing suicide, or attempting to commit suicide to get a psychiatric sentence is actually typical for men caught abusing girls . One local man committed suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning , using the car exhaust in a locked garage, another one attempted suicide several times and was admitted to a hospital ; while in the hospital confessed to his manipulation of the system , but when released to go to jail , attempted suicide again probably hoping to be readmitted to the hospital , but no one “found him” in time and he died .
Maybe that is what happened to this beast , someone “didn’t find him “in time .
