Mark Your Calendars – Million Vet March, October 13th, 2013

We are all military brats, current and former military spouses and some veterans. We cannot express how utterly disappointed we were that our Greatest Generation were being used as political pawns in the ongoing government shutdown and budget crisis. This should never be the case.

We do not care what political leanings you may be; be it liberal, conservative, Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Independent or whatever. The actions of the U.S. government this week with regard to barricading and shutting down the World War II Memorial to veterans, that may or may not be on their last trip to Washington DC, is a despicable act of cowardice.

Veterans this week were unwillingly pitted as pawns in this crisis. We feel that this should never be the case. This is why we will go to Congress after the budget crisis and ask for a bill to be introduced that would prevent any member of the government from closing our memorials down to any American, except for maintenance purposes. In the meantime, we will have our March in Washington DC on October 13th! Our veterans deserve that!

Many in our group have decided that enough is enough. We are Americans. We are proud of our heritage and our service. As all of us were military brats and spouses, we have served in some form or another our entire lives. This is our way of life. We will not stand by and let the U.S. government dishonor the legacy of sacrifice of the generations before us. It is time to make a stand! We hope that you will join us in our peaceful protest against anti-American policies.

Tear down the Barrycades!

truckers will be there the same weekend. If any vets do not have a ride I am sure they will be able to get one with the truckers. Think some bikers will be there also.

this time a DC party will be for the American People, not the backtrack bunch and congress critters

Wish they had some sort of fund set up. Money talks. The greedy rat pr$ck bast$rds might pay a little me attention after a huge money bomb

    • DeniseVB says:

They could get a million vets/veteran supporters from the DC/mid-Atlantic area with no problem. Even if half of that shows up, or even a quarter, it will make a nice visual message sending impact on 0barrycade 🙂

      • Constance says:

But they will have to get the visual message out themselves as this protest won’t fit the media and Democrat shutdown narrative.

I DVR’d SNL last night out of morbid curiosity.

Didn’t make it all the way through the opening.

The government shutdown is being felt close to home for some locals. They say they’re being forced out of private homes on Lake Mead because they sit on federal land.

Joyce Spencer is 77-years-old and her husband Ralph is 80. They’ve been spending most of their time in the family ice cream store since going home isn’t an option.

The Spencers never expected to be forced out of their Lake Mead home, which they’ve owned since the 70s, but on Thursday, a park ranger said they had 24 hours to get out.

“I had to go to town today and buy Ralph undershirts and jeans because I forgot his pants,” Joyce Spencer told Action News.

The Stewart’s Point home sits on federal land, so even though the Spencers own their cabin outright, they’re not allowed in until the government reopens.

Any network that chooses not to air a story about this has no right to be a journalist anymore.

        • DeniseVB says:

The creepy corporate media has an agenda to change America which is totally against everything journalism is supposed to be. Too bad they couldn’t be on the side of our country.

Oh, they are training them that way in Journo schools now:

    Please proceed, teabaggers.

    • The Klown says:

      Obama is busily teabagging himself.

Quite a feat. I knew he had no spine but that’s still amazing.

      • Somebody says:

True it is amazing, but for a man with no spine it is feasible. Since he has self-imposed no golf for himself he has to have some way to pass the time…… seriously don’t think he’s working do you?

Well OK he is working with his staff to figure out things he can close down but that technically works in with his self teabagging if you get my drift. It’s all a vicious circle, Barry closes something gets excited, blah, blah.

    • catarina says:

Please go count your free birth control pills, Wanda.
That should keep you busy for many happy hours.

More importantly, please be sure to take those pills each and every day! 🙂

    • angienc says:

Poor little sheep — just because you need someone else to tell you what to do doesn’t mean we do.
IOW — we don’t need your permission fuckhead.

    • wmcb says:

Oh we will, have no fear, Statist salad-tosser.

    • wmcb says:

Make that Statist rim-jobber. If sexual monikers are all the rage and acceptable, that’s the one I’m using from here on out for proggies.

Video at link with some stills. Actually using Reid and Pelosi would have been more honest, but interesting that Michele Bachmann is still living rent free in their heads 😀

That is always the problem with self proclaimed smart people. They have no clue what they don’t know and think if they don’t know it that it is not worth knowing. Arrogant ignorance is a plague on this country.

  12. angienc says:

Byron York (columnist with Washington Times) asked a good question on Twitter — given the petty way Obama has reacted to the shutdown by closing open airs memorials, etc to “inflict punishment” on average Americans for political reasons, how does that bode for way his administration will run ACA.
I think the IRS scandal & the way he handled sequester are good indications.

    • wmcb says:

The more I ponder the abuses under Bush, and the even worse abuses under Obama, the more I lean toward “The federal govt has too much fucking power, period.”

Whatever good they might do is outweighed by the very real risk that they can wield it as a weapon if you piss them off, and there is very little the public can do about that.

They are giving an object lesson on the wisdom of Federalism. Ok, asshats, then let’s take that power away.

      • driguana says:

I still keep asking myself and those around me….”What exactly should the role of the Federal government be in modern times?” What do you think? Should there be a Dept of Education, for example?

        • wmcb says:

Yep. I likely want more govt than some, less than some. But people need to actually think about it.

        • Constance says:

No way should the Feds have a Dept of Education. That is up to the states. The Feds need to be trimmed and put back in their box. They are out of control and have been for a long time.

        • wmcb says:

The data clearly shows that our schools performed better prior to 1980 when DOE came into existence. Get rid of it. It’s a failure.

        • angienc says:

Considering the downward projectory of public education in this country since the Dept. of Ed’s creation in the late 70s/early 80s, I have no problem saying we need to do away with it. Really, look at curriculum & tests children & teens were doing in public schools pre & post Dept. of Ed. My dad was doing Calculus I & II in high school in the early 60s — now kids are lucky to graduate knowing basic Algebric concepts.

Like everything the feds get involved with — it ends up costing tax payers a lot more & the quality goes down.

    • Lulu says:

The punishment part was a theme of his first presidential campaign. He wanted to punish anyone who did not back him from the start. Remember that? This is nothing new. It was there for anyone to see who wanted to look. He is a spitefull nasty person and always has been.

      • angienc says:

Yep, I remember that. I also remember in 2012 him saying:
        “Voting is the best revenge!”
Of course the whip kissing progs — the same ones who claimed with straight faces that Romney *literally* wanted to put women in binders — all hysterically spit that was a “common expression” — facts and common sense mean nothing to them.

Best quote from the article: “Of course, I want people to have health care,” Vinson said. “I just didn’t realize I would be the one who was going to pay for it personally.”

      • abc says:

That’s what people get for buying the spin, LOL. Anyone with half a brain knew otherwise.

      • Lulu says:

LOL. Dumbass. Who did they think Obama was going to transfer wealth away from. Big nasty corporations with lobbyists and exemptions? Pay up sucker. Then pay attention and think before you vote.

        • Constance says:

So now we get to learn, were Obots stupid or just naive? I know the Obot I gave birth to was outraged when the $15 minimum wage movement took off….”I get $14. and hour as an engineering intern and I studied and worked for 4 years to do that, why should THEY get $15 at McDonalds?”

backtrack bunch calling for troops in the twitter war

    • leslie says:

It wouldn’t surprise me if bronco called for troops of some sort on the 13th. I used to think Bush was bad (he was) but THIS is much more frightening. Bronco is pushing buttons on purpose so that there is an uprising and he can use force.
I can’t engage in civil disobedience any more (or I would). My retirement is at stake and I hate having to give thought to weighing my future against protesting this a$$hat and his evil administration.

notice candy’s questions all ask how should the republicans handle the debt ceiling. funny I had the silly idea the House including BOTH parties are supposed to handle problems. If it is only the republicans are supposed to handle problems, why are the democrats collecting a pay check?

We’re supposed to be skeered. Then whimper so it will stop. Too bad Putin reminded everyone how to beat them.

    • Constance says:

That is sure true, and how dumb are they that they can’t figure that out?! The Feds act like we citizens exist to fulfill their needs not like they are there to work for us. Of course that is because they are owned by multinational corporations who consider citizens nothing but consumers of product and government.

That is so true, Bronco is fighting America. And why? We are a unique country, if you don’t like us then go somewhere else.

this is just one paragraph. read the whole article. it is long

After it was clear that the optics of this juvenile stunt were not working for the administration, when the vets showed up the following day on the next Honor Flight, picketers representing themselves as furloughed federal workers tried to grab press photographers’ attention to change what the left is most concerned about always — “the narrative.” Unfortunately, the picketers were as dumb as those who hired them and admitted they were not federal workers — just some guys the SEIU, union allies of the administration, hired for $15 per hour to carry these signs at the memorial.
