Happy Pearl Harbor Day!!

Today is the seventy-something anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was one of the worst strategic mistakes in history. Even if the Japs had taken out our aircraft carriers and submarine fleet it would have only postponed the inevitable. We were just too big for them to beat.

It was an ugly war, but they are our friends now so we kinda down-play exactly how evil the Imperial Japanese were. So today only you should boycott sushi and don’t drive Japanese cars. (My car is a Toyota.)

I didn’t want to waste some perfectly good insomnia so I am reading Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill.

  2. DeniseVB says:

I finally got to watch this video, which is lovely, but how did the ACLU and vile progs allow a real CHRISTMAS song full of love and joy with references to heaven allow this is in a very public place and sung by a military group? (/snark)

  3. DeniseVB says:

Hey guys! I bet if we all chip in we can get this for myiq for Christmas! πŸ˜›

  4. votermom says:

I’m going thru W.E.B. Griffin’s The Corps series which follows fictional Marines around the Pacific theater and the series basically starts with the Pearl Harbor bombing, iirc.
Just finished book 7, set mainly in the Philippines.

Cruz and Lee vindicated on shutdown

now if some of the old guard republcans would get their heads out of their a$$es and work with these two maybe there would be some changes in DC

  6. helenk3 says:

    Never forget

have you heard about the Honor Flights? they fly WW2 vets to DC to see the memorial

  7. DeniseVB says:

My first “memory” of Pearl Harbor ….

    • helenk3 says:

when you go to the Arizona memorial there is such a feeling, like when you go to Gettysburg and the other battle sites it is hallowed ground

      • insanelysane says:

Saw a doc. about Arizona. The vets who survived 1941 are able to have remains interred once they die, in the ocean w/ the Arizona. A private family ceremony is held off hours on the memorial site and then, and a scuba diver takes the urn and places it in a hidden crypt in the water there at the site.

To join his fellows on the Arizona.

  9. helenk3 says:

so where is PETA and all the animal activists on this ? Oh I am sorry I forgot it is backtrack so it is OK

  10. helenk3 says:

as of noon eastern time crickets from the white house honoring Pearl Harbor. maybe because there are no pictures of backtrack at the memorial

  11. DeniseVB says:

This is funny, no, not the Common Core math word problem, but the commenters figuring it out. πŸ˜€

    • helenk3 says:

do not know whether to laugh or cry. WTH are we doing to our kids?

    • DandyTIger says:

I would guess that there’s more to the story. There’s probably a paragraph describing things, including the numbers missing from the problem. Then a series of questions based on that context. So it’s not fair to only show the problem.

Having said that, I love the answer someone gave that you give it all to the government and let them distribute it “fairly”.

      • DeniseVB says:

I think the article did point to the textbook and page number to prove it was real? But you’re right DT, could have been more to that problem that was conveniently “missed”. I was just thrilled my math challenged brain first thought “I need more information, how many friends and how many stickers in each bag”. So maybe that WAS the correct answer?

flaws in enrollment records for insurance exchange

I really can not think of a word for this obortion

SNAFU does not even begin to cover it

They just won’t accept that they’re accountable to the people, will they?

  15. The Klown says:

Ima go hang my Christmas lights (if I can find them in the garage)

  16. helenk3 says:

this is just wrong.. you have the right in this country to choose who you want to do business with. Otherwise all business should just close their doors

  17. helenk3 says:

backtrack will be on an island on Jan 1 2014 when a lot of people find out they do not have health insurance. the good that about that is he can not run too far to get away from the pitchforks and torches

  18. DandyTIger says:

OK, that was a nice warm spell. Now it’s 39F. Sitting next to the fireplace.

  19. helenk3 says:

    random thought

now when you come home drunk you can say you went to the bar to have a discussion on obamacare and you went for the good of the family

  20. helenk3 says:

Dr Ben Carson will be on Judge Jeanine tonight

  21. Breaking! Santa’s logistical system (mostly) explained. Wm. M. Briggs, a self-described Statistician to the Stars!, spills the bean on how the old coot from the North Pole gets all those deliveries accomplished around the world on Christmas Eve.
If you’ve never run across Briggs before, suffice it to say he’s a pain in the butt to the old line global warming crowd because he won’t let them “fudge” their numbers. Or, as he’s said more than once, “Bad statistics makes bad science worse”.
    A fun read,

  22. helenk3 says:

On facebook there was a picture of Jan Brewer placing a wreath at the Arizona memorial in her state.
could you see the Jan and Sarah show in DC? they would rock that town and shake it up like never before

    • Constance says:

Oh my God those elitists couldn’t take it. The idea of women in politics is just getting through to them and they see it as an inevitable evil they must endure. They want the women who go into politics to be head waging, eye blinking, east coast, elitists who end every sentence they utter with a question. I remember the first time I saw Kirsten Gillibrand I think she was talking to Jon Stewart but it might have been that HBO pig and I couldn’t believe the submissive body language with sexual overtones. No way would Brewer or Palin put out those vibes.

I often wonder if there is some shortage of men on the east coast or something when I see the submissive behavior of the women. I even find hobbling around in heels as ridiculous as Chinese women binding their feet. No way can you project authority when you walk like a cripple.

      • Good point about the shortage of men back east. I also wonder if the men those submissive women wheedle might be slightly less masculine or self-assured than normals. IMX it;s the less-than-confident males who respond to submissives. To the rest of us that;s mostly of a turn-off.

  23. helenk3 says:

Good, she should be fired. Any time something or a false report of rape or a false report of racism happens, it makes it harder for the victims of real incidents

  24. DeniseVB says:

From the Crawdad Hole FB Page, our bestest ever…..

  25. helenk3 says:

living proof that obama koolaid rots the brain.
I have met this man, I liked this man, he was not always like this. Until 2008 when he took party before country he was fine

  26. The Klown says:
  27. helenk3 says:

on Huckabee they are singing the obamacare 12 days of Christmas.

when the video becomes available you have to see it. I have not laughed that hard in a long time

  28. helenk3 says:

did the backtrack bunch build the obamacare mess using the jingo game or the weebles as model to learn from?

  29. DandyTIger says:

    Holy crap. Go Stanford!

  30. threewickets says:

Today Hawaii is the most expensive state in America. Big Japanese real estate investments.
