    Everything sounds dirty in French.

‘Duck Dynasty’ Didn’t Want to Diss Gay Employees By Keeping Phil on Show

Phil Robertson disrespected gay employees at A&E … and THAT’S why he was sacked from “Duck Dynasty” … sources connected with the network tell TMZ.

We’re told A&E CEO Nancy Dubuc felt she could not in good conscience ask gay employees to kill themselves for a show when he disrespected them by calling them sinners.

Our sources say … gay employees involved in the production — and there are a number of them — were outraged by Phil’s comments to GQ and wanted Dubuc to give him the ax.

We’re told Dubuc felt this way … If Phil had made similar comments about African Americans or Jews … there would have been a public outcry for his head. She felt it was just plain wrong not to have the same sense of indignation when the comments were directed at gays.

Our sources say GLAAD was heavily involved in lobbying the network to 86 Phil, and they had an impact.

As for TMZ’s criticism that A&E knew full well what it was getting with Phil when they hired him … as one source put it, “He just took it too far with GQ … especially with the coarse language.”

Our sources say A&E is adamant — this has nothing to do with being “anti-religion.” Fact is … the network runs lots of religious programming, notably, Mark Burnett’s “The Bible.”

The CEO is paying the price. We’re told she’s been receiving death threats.

I wonder how many of those employees will lose their jobs when the show is cancelled?

    • elliesmom says:

The drunks were so offended he called them sinners they walked off the job at noon.

      • Mary says:

Keep in mind, A&E did not consider taking Phil off the air until AFTER glaad called to complain.

But apparently, A&E has been swamped with emails, letters, and calls objecting to their treatment of Phil. Last time they were asked for reaction , they said “No comment.”

        Uh, no sh*t. 🙂

      • lyn says:

This is the best quote from the GLAAD fallout story: “We believe the next step is to use this as an opportunity for Phil to sit down with gay families in Louisiana and learn about their lives and the values they share,” the spokesman said.
LOL. GLAAD stepped in a big pile of intolerance, and is the bigot here.

    • Lulu says:

Gee I wish I had a boss who got rid of clients or whatever who had offended me. There were dumb-asses, bigots, drug addicts, rich assholes, and creeps. The fact that we made money off of them never entered my mind! Why I think only people who agree with me, an employee, should have been served. The fact that we laughed our asses off at the clients antics never happened. Never! /s/

If this is true, which it probably isn’t, A&E should go tits up.

      • Mary says:

I’m reading that an A&E rep was WITH Phil during the interview with GQ (ie, they knew what he said) and even that they approved the interview to begin with.

Supposedly, they wanted this info out there to be able to control Phil and his family on the show—-fewer prayers, etc. Phil and his family resisted.

        Tits up, indeed.

        • Lulu says:

Then A&E WANTED the interview. If they took him or accompanied him they wanted the publicity. I very much doubt he volunteered on his own. What a bunch of hypocrites. I am starting to think A&E wanted out of the contract because they don’t like being linked with the CULTURE of the hit show. They felt like they were becoming the rural huntin’ and fishin’ and religion network and wanted out. This way they can be hero to their own culture even if they are bankrupt. I hope the Robertson’s sue their asses off for breech of contract or slander.

        • Lulu says:

They cannot control these people. They are wealthy. They are educated. And THEIR religious beliefs have been insulted as has the clan leader. Robertson is a Highland surname.

        • Lulu says:

“We’re told A&E CEO Nancy Dubuc felt she could not in good conscience ask gay employees to kill themselves for a show when he disrespected them by calling them sinners.”

The staff were “killing themselves”? Really? I smell jealousy that the people being filmed were getting richer and the smucks doing the technical filming work weren’t and got butthurt because they think they are superior beings because they hold cameras and have to follow an old dude around carrying a shotgun. If this is how A&E handles their personnel problems they are in real trouble. They should have offered them another job slot on another show, more pay or told them to go get another job. The CEO probably doesn’t like being teased that she makes money from religious hunting gear manufacturers.

        • DeniseVB says:

I’ve read that A&E thought they had a Honey Boo Boo type show so people could laugh at these rubes and their redneck ways. And it backfired by putting put a spotlight on faith and family in a positive way.

        • Mary says:

PS I also read that A&E added fake “bleeps” (as in covering cuss words) in the show —-even though the family never cursed—cuz they wanted them to look more like tacky “rednecks.” Family had objected.

Apparently the tension between A&E and the family has been ongoing, with the family very much resisting company trying to alter who they are.

Ya reckon Phil did it all on purpose (although those were his true beliefs) to get out of HIS contract? 🙂

        • Lulu says:

Or A&E did it to get out of their contract. Who knows. Entertainment and media like to control the talent. They get rid of them if they can’t. I don’t think the Robertsons are a good fit with A&E and I think A&E are going to miss the money.

The people who benefit the most from this kerfuffle are Obama and HHS.Sibelius. No one’s talking about obamacare – all I hear is Phil and Duck Dynasty.

Awesome but I’m sure the idjits on MSobama channel must not have seen this or there would have been much pissing and moaning about racism.
Good to know that there are people who know and speak the truth rather than slobbering over a fakery.

    This photographer is FABULOUS!!

FYI: A&E will be airing 35 HOURS of Duck Dynasty next week:

    December 22 — 5PM-4AM EST
    December 23 — 7PM-4AM EST
    December 24 — 6PM-9PM EST
    December 25 — 3:30PM-4AM EST

    • leslie says:

Question – If everyone boycotts this Duck Dynasty marathon to support the Duck Dynasty family, will this give A&E reason to cancel the show? orif everyone watches DD, will A&E still cancel their contract with the head of the DD family?

      • DeniseVB says:

I think the rabid fans will watch to boost the ratings in that toldya’so sort of way. Wonder who’ll be sponsoring it? GLAADs put pressure on them too.

      • Constance says:

I think just watch Duck Dynasty if you want to but don’t watch A&Es other shows. When they cancel DD the network goes down. Of course they still make money because you are forced to subscribe to it with your basic cable payment it really doesn’t matter if anyone watches it or not, they will not go out of business. But as far as threatening the sponsors, how many gay guys buy camo gear, duck calls and really big trucks?

      • threewickets says:

Phil Robertson returning to Duck Dynasty episodes on January 15th.

NYT is now covering their sweet patooties by declaring Ocare will be bad for the middle class (where were they in 2012?) 10. Lulu says:

The new pro-Obamacare argument: “Upper middle class people, quitcher whining already — and New York Times, please stop enabling this nonsense.”
The rationale behind this hostile and demeaning bitch-fest is the writer had to pay more for she and her EX-husband (no children as the case cited has to cover) under COBRA after they were canned by an employer. Things beyond her kin, region affects premium price, $100,000 annual income is not that much in many regions, children cost money to raise, their insurance was cancelled to force them into exchanges to subsidize the creative class low earners by choice like the author, and jealousy and entitlement is ugly especially when expressed by resentful people who are on the loosing end of a political train wreck.

    • lyn says:

Who wants to pay more for crap insurance under Obamacare? Only idiots.

      • The Klown says:

Nah, Obama supporters are pissed off too.

      • Lulu says:

It is shaping up as a subsidized versus non-subsidized fight. The subsidized (such as the writer I think) think they deserve it while the non-subsidized (but newly or additionally financially stressed) don’t.

One of the things I am seeing in these prog writers is their resentment of people who have made a decent living. Their complete lack of compassion for people with children, high taxes, and what I think of as conventional bills is starting to slip out and in growing numbers spew out with fury. To resent a teacher and policeman couple’s income in middle age is the tip of the iceberg of their anger. And now that Obamacare is a complete fuckup that daily has a higher probability of repeal is sending them over the edge. Realizing they may not get any benefit from Obama is not something they are willing to face. A lot of their resentment has to do with their own life choices which they don’t want to think about but each of us has to do at some point in life.

  14. helenk3 says:

    a question

every body keeps saying about the obamacare obortion, we will be able to do something about when we vote in November. Well what about the people that are now without insurance, and do not know if and when they can get it. November is almost a year away and the people do not take office until the following January that is over a year away. Just pray although don’t that in public that they do not need health insurance?

    • Lulu says:

The really bad stuff starts happening in January and will quickly accelerate. That is why the WH is making all of these impossible changes. Surely someone with a clue knows that none of it can be implemented in a few days in a national insurance market. When they wrote this shit in 2009-2013 they knew they were going to harm people but didn’t care. But they expected to have a magic website to gloss it over and transfer blame to insurance companies, states, and individuals (and Republicans which has been a flop).

The complete and utter failure of their marketing tool has exposed them to criticism that even the knob slobbering media cannot cover for. The web site cannot work. It will never work. The data systems that it is supposed to interface with are stand alone legacy systems that would take years (decades) to replace and billions to pay for. One of the recent memos that Issa has obtained suggests that the WH wanted to expose the IRS, SSA and immigration computer systems to Obamacare contractors which would result in open hacking. This is extremely illegal. No one can hook up or access these systems except feds. No one, ever. Reams of privacy and security law say so. But Obama-ites were willing to do it, tried to do it, failed, so Obama would not look like a fool and so everyone could be compelled to pay tribute to his financial backers who in turn pay off Democrats and their constituencies.
