Dear GOP: Leave Bill Clinton Alone!

Hey baby! Do I make you horny?

Hey baby! Do I make you horny?

Let’s start with some news:

Rand Paul Says Bill Clinton’s Behavior With Monica Lewinsky Was ‘Predatory’

Viewers of NBC’s “Meet The Press” were treated to a blast from the past Sunday morning as Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) weighed in on former President Bill Clinton’s behavior with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

Host David Gregory asked Paul about an interview with him and his wife that appeared in the September issue of Vogue. In it, Kelley Paul said that voters should consider Clinton’s “predatory” behavior in the White House before returning him there as first spouse. Clinton was impeached in 1998 after lying about his sexual relations with Lewinsky and had to fight to remain in office.

“I think really the media seems to have given President Clinton a pass on this,” Rand Paul said Sunday, when asked to respond to his wife’s comments. “He took advantage of a girl that was 20 years old and an intern in his office. There is no excuse for that, and that is predatory behavior.”

Dear GOP: Leave Bill Clinton alone!

Seriously – it’s for your own good. I get it – he cheated on his wife right there in the White House. You guys literally caught him with his pants down. There was DNA and everything. He got a hummer from a young woman who was less than half his age. He also diddled her with a Cuban cigar.

WE KNOW ALL THAT!

We also know Monica wasn’t the only one. Hell, we knew he was a horndog when we elected him. It was probably all Hillary could do to keep him from humping on women’s legs in public.

LET IT GO!

Bill Clinton is your white whale, but do you recall what happened to Captain Ahab when he finally caught Moby Dick? Do you recall what happened to Newt Gingrich? What about Bob Livingston? Going after the Big Dawg cost you guys TWO Speakers of the House.

And what did you get? Bill survived impeachment. In fact, his approval ratings went UP during and after the scandal. He remains one of the most popular politicians in the world. He’s the guy the Democrats call when they need help in an election.

Going after Slick Willie over sex scandals is like trying to get milk by beating a dead horse. He got his picture taken with three pornstars and people just laughed and shook their heads.

There are plenty of good arguments to use against Hillary Clinton. Trying to convince people that her husband is a rapist or sexual predator just destroys your credibility with the voters.

He got away with it. He beat you. Make your peace with it and move on.

The Big Dawg makes new friends everywhere he goes.

I give this advice away for free, knowing two things:

    1. It is excellent advice

    2. The people I’m giving it to won’t take it.

This is like advising a client to obey a restraining order and knowing he’s gonna violate it.

I actually didn’t follow the whole Bill Clinton republican witch hunt that closely other than to note that Bill Clinton was unfairly asked questions about a consensual relationship so that Ken Starrnut could ridiculously connect it to a nonconsensual encounter elsewhere. That’s like proving someone robbed a bank because they visited an entirely different bank a week earlier.

Bill Clinton left office more popular than when he went in, the only president in the past 90 years to do so. And, it was actually Monica Lewinsky that initiated the encounter by lifting her skirt above her hips when no one else was looking but Mr. Clinton.

And finally, of the original 12 republican politician witch hunters, at least half were having their own peccadilloes at the same time they were in judgement of Mr. Clinton, and that doesn’t even count Newt, who abstained from the process specifically because he had divorced his cancer stricken wife while she was in the hospital so he could proceed with his own intern.

I dunno about this, I would have agreed with you until I saw MSNBC blaming Monica* for Bubba’s troubles.

    *downstairs, there’s a link 😉

    • The Klown says:

I don’t consider Monica a victim or perpetrator. She got what she wanted and so did Bill.

      • 49erDweet says:

It’s true he didn’t “back her into a corner”, but the irony of a CEO and an intern getting a pass on something that would get another pair fired or fined is simply too rich to ignore. He’s tough enough to take it.
Your advice is good, though, until if/when he jumps into the limelight on her campaign. THAT’S the time to speak out, not now.

      • dailypuma says:

I think Starr was the jack ass, he certainly wasn’t unbiased. They actually sequestered Monica Lewinsky in a high rise building and wouldn’t let her leave until she “confessed” to a consensual affair.

bill clinton is yesterday. his wandering dick has been all over the place for years.
now if you want to question where the money from his foundation goes that is fair game and should be made public if his wife runs for president. Will she get campaign money from it?

  4. DandyTIger says:

Just when you thought the GOP couldn’t be more stupid. There’s only one result if the GOP uses this tactic against Hillary: Madam President.

    AofSHQ:

There is a price to be paid for divorcing actions and concepts from the words that describe them. Government, and the law that undergirds it, is made up of words. Devalue the words, strip them of meaning, and you do the same thing to the concepts those words describe. Action follows Thought, and for Thought to exist there must be the Word.

This was George Orwell’s central insight when he invented Newspeak for his novel 1984. Language doesn’t just describe what we think about, and allow us to communicate with each other; in a major way, it actually determines what we think about, and how we think. We conceptualize the way we do, even in the abstract, using constructs of language – even mathematics and computer code is a kind of language. Orwell understood that the Word could actually be turned into a weapon, an invisible knife to cut away a man’s ability to think (and thus, to act). All you have to do is convince a man that the Word he’s hearing means something other than what he thought it meant…or can mean anything, really. Or nothing at all. Science, history, literature, even music — they evaporate like a puddle in the hot sun because the Words used to build them stop conveying meaning.

Words have meaning. They must have meaning, for if we are to communicate at all we must transmit meaning from one person to another. This is perhaps the most unforgivable part of the postmodernist assault on the language itself: it has weakened our ability to even describe the loss of meaning.

If a Word can mean anything, it means nothing. Think of that while his Majesty the King speaks tomorrow night.

I’d rather watch Downton Abbey on TiVo with my honey and read about it Wednesday, thanks. 🙂
Besides I know of a weird blogsite where I can get a pretty good handle on it after the Kaghita is filtered out.

    weird thought

backtrack claims he can do everything with a pen. congressional democrats do not seem to have a problem with that.
so does that mean the democrats want money for nothing??? do they even have to show up anymore except when backtrack is spewing BS and they are needed to applaud?
will his pen save us money and cut congressional expenses?

    this is an interesting article/

are the backtrack bunch going to victims of ” Irish Diplomacy ?”

  8. fif says:

I saw this article earlier and thought, “If this is the best they’ve got, they are really grasping at straws.”

  9. Anthony says:

I was living in Paris when the Monica thing happened. The headline of Le Monde roughly translated “America finally has a President that’s screwing someone besides the taxpayers and they’re still complaining” I thought it was apropos

Wow, nasty comments on that post of Greta’s. Of course new Dems say that crap all the time about Palin, and used to say that stuff about Hillary. But it doesn’t make it a good idea to do it (back). Although I have to admit, I laughed at the label “abortion barbie” because it’s a twist on the new Dem label for Palin.

But you know, if you’re a pundit in the public eye trying to promote one side over the other, you’re an idiot to do that, even if your opponents do it all the time.

Not too impressed with the source on this, but the Big Dawg was a pretty good president at times and would have received more kudos for being that if only he hadn’t shot himself in his butt with an “own goal”, so-to-speak..
I firmly believe the Dem PTB’s think Hil is their only invincible candidate and will beg and wheedle away everything to get her to run, and she will accept. IMO.
I also believe the GOP PTB’s would rather lose to her than turn over control of the GOP to the vast unwashed, so will play out another of their quadrennial versions of “Groundhog Day”. In fact, we are are seeing the opening scenes of that dramatic flop going on today, in our midst.
      No hope.

      • The Klown says:

There is a big chunk of the Democratic establishment that believes Hillary is gonna win so they are kissing her ass, but they would LOVE to sandbag her again they way they did in 2008. The media and the far left both hate the Clintons. The media pretends they don’t.

        • tpcelt says:

Hopefully she has learned a lesson from 2008: don’t run unless you have irreversible commitments to your nomination and candidacy, including voicing the explicit support for such in the media.

Also, given her $$ to spend on polls, focus groups, etc., I suspect that, if she does decide to run, she will have addressed her roles in the Arab Spring and Benghazi.
