Caturday Morning Open Thread

I was gonna write a really great post but it was super hot yesterday and my mom wanted me to take her to Walmart and then she bought me beer and made me watch Timmy and the Giants beat the Braves 2-1 so blame her.

Seriously, it was in the nineties yesterday. What happened to Spring?

I had a nightmare last night that I was back together with my psycho ex-girlfriend.

    That was some scary shit.

The White House Correspondents Dinner is now considered tacky. The current crop of DC trash which is full of bundlers, functionaries, reality “stars”, suck-up media luminaries (and their dates!), slimy politicians, AND the Obama’s are the attendees. DC is not cool any longer. Ugh.

    • 1539days says:

Some of that may be the fact that social media now makes stars accountable for stupid shit they do. It also seems like the politicos there aren’t being worshiped by the stars like in years past.

John Bolton told this story about how he was seated at a table next to George Clooney for one of these dinners. He couldn’t even talk to the guy because every woman there was vying for Clooney’s attention.

I think even the people kissing Obama’s ass in public are only doing so to keep up the veneer of a hip, powerful president. Even his allies want something from him and Obama isn’t delivering.

    • DandyTIger says:

The Obama’s and Obot’s were like two years ago dude.

      • Lulu says:

Oh yeah. They kept it going just long enough for reelection. Even then it was forced and very fake. Now everything is going to crap.

You may have seen this , but this was my old neighborhood when I lived in “Hopkins Student Ghetto ” aka Charles Village in Baltimore . I lived one street over .

  4. helenk3 says:

more protests over speakers at a college.

so in this country now free speech is no longer allowed at colleges. seems to be a trend that if you are a conservative you are not welcome. gee remember when both sides were listen to and a student was trusted enough to be allowed to decide which side of a issue they believed.
Bomber Billy is more than welcome at college commencements but Condi Rice is not.
I did not believe in the Iraq war as did many people, but when an intelligent person is invited to speak , I would like to hear what they have to say. I may not agree with it , but I might learn something by listening. we are really cheating our kids by letting them hear from people of both sides

  5. helenk3 says:

by not letting them hear from both sides

  6. helenk3 says:

it is getting interesting in this country. this is the second incident like this I have read about in the last couple of days

    • 49erDweet says:

There are small groups like that all over. Google “posse comitatus” for another. They like to test the waters with actions against veh registration and driver’s licensure laws. They never win. Wrong windmill.

  7. helenk3 says:

are JFK and backtrack from the same party?

this article expresses my disconnect from today’s democratic party

  8. lyn says:

This is what was happening in my Montana hometown during my visit this past week:
It did make national TV news.

  9. helenk3 says:

I am going to apologize for this as I know you do not like WND. But I really think this video should go viral. this is an example of today’s msm

    • Somebody says:

I saw that over at WZ. What a shame the other R candidates in the room didn’t have enough spine to walk out with him. I don’t live in Oregon, but if I did he’d have my vote.

    • 49erDweet says:

That, ladies and gentlemen, is today’s American Press in all their swarmy, self-righteous. thin-skinned putridness. Boy, will they be surprised when they finally discover they not only don’t “know everything”, but they’re on the fast track to not knowing anything.

  10. helenk3 says:

according the white house visitors log, backtrack did debate prep on 9/11/2012.
might be a clue to what he was doing during benghazi attack

  11. helenk3 says:

Is this where we are in this country today? what a sad legacy we are leaving future generations

If white men didn’t, then there would be no OFA, MSNBC, OWS, etc. Or for that matter, Dem party. Because the vast majority of members and leaders of all those things are white men, talking about mostly one thing, race. And not their race, but another, and how that other is all victims, and it’s your fault, you (other) white men. It’s really confusing.

      • The Klown says:

Any discussion of racism IS a white man issue, cuz we’re s’posedly the racists that are keeping everyone else down.

        • 49erDweet says:

And the more time is taken from us by talking about and dealing with it, the less time we have to practice it. It’s a bummer!

    • Somebody says:

HA I just saw that story a few mintues ago Helen and immediately showed it to my husband. The whole story sounds far fetched, but hubby says he believes it. ERAM is unlike other new FAA systems/software that is usually tested and retested at the technical center; after that once installed at facilities runs in the background for a period of time as additional testing. Then everything is migrated to it, but the old system remains in the background as a redundant backup for a certain amount of time.

Well that process is too cumbersome and takes too long, says some of TPTB. So ERAM is being live field tested……I shit you not. When these “glitches” are found they’re promptly addressed. The agency has been under pressure to bring new systems online quicker and to get the entire modernization process moving at a faster pace. To be fair ERAM has been around for a while and the intial BETA testing was done at smaller facilities, on the graveyard shift only, to work out the initial kinks……..but live BETA testing ATC software seems like an oxymoron to me.

Was just at the kids dentist where the waiting room tv was tuned to the Disney channel.
Apparently Mooch is going to be on tv again, this time traumatizing kids everywhere

  14. The Klown says:

It’s not as hot as yesterday (but still dreadful hot for the first week of May) and I was going to mow the lawn I planned to mow yesterday before Mom kidnapped me and took me to Wally World.

I had barely finished the tiny front yard (10% of total) when Jobu intervened and drained the battery on my Mp3 player. I cannot do physical work without music, so I will have to wait until the battery is recharged. Maybe later today.

    Maybe tomorrow.
