“Plain” Taylor?

I didn’t feel like talking about what Obama is doing today, or the VA, or about crazy rich kids on killing sprees, so I thought I would start a thread on a nicer topic. Then I figured there is nothing nicer than Taylor Swift.

The other day some neanderthal claimed that Taylor Swift is really plain looking without make-up.

I beg to differ.

Of course she looks pretty good with it too.

BTW – Is that a scar above her right eye?

    Taylor Swift – Tim McGraw:

There is a cool story behind this song:

Swift and Liz Rose wrote “Tim McGraw” during Swift’s freshman year at Hendersonville High School. She conceived the idea in the midst of her mathematics class: “I was just sitting there, and I started humming this melody.” She then related the melody to a predicament she was encountering at the moment. Swift knew that she and her senior boyfriend, Drew Dunlap, would break up at the end of the year when he left for college. In order to cope with the complicated emotions she was experiencing, Swift wrote the song. Rose said Swift showed up at her after school job, writing songs for Sony/ATV Music, “with the idea and the melody, knowing exactly what she wanted.” She desired for the song to capture the sweetness and sadness of loving and losing someone. It was written about all the different things that would remind Dunlap of Swift and their time spent together, once he departed. “To her surprise, the first thing that came to mind was [her] love of Tim McGraw’s music.” Several personal details were listed for the song. McGraw’s mentioning was a reference to Swift’s favorite song, “Can’t Tell Me Nothin” from his 2004 album Live Like You Were Dying, rather than McGraw as a person. The writing process, as with “Our Song”, took place in approximately twenty minutes, and was executed with the use of a piano.

Soon after, Scott Borchetta, CEO of Big Machine Records, signed Swift to his newly formed label. Early into the album production, in a meeting where Borchetta and Swift discussed potential songs for Swift’s debut album, she performed “Tim McGraw” for Borchetta on fluke ukulele. According to Swift, as soon as Borchetta finished listening to the song, he faced Swift and said, “That’s your first single.” She responded, “Well. That’s how that works then.” Prior to that event, Swift did not believe that the song was single material. However, she followed what label executives told her and accepted that they were correct. Swift placed “Tim McGraw” as the first track on Taylor Swift because of its importance to her. The song was eventually released as a CD single on June 19, 2006. In retrospect, Swift has said that the song “is reminiscent, and it is thinking about a relationship you had and then lost. I think one of the most powerful human emotions is what should have been and wasn’t… That was a really good song to start out on, because a lot of people can relate to wanting something you can’t have.” When Dunlap, the song’s subject, discovered it, he thought it was “cool” and kept friendship with Swift despite their breakup.

      The single went platinum.

Scanning shooter guy’s updates, I guess all the signs were there, what could have been done?

Mental problems from an early age, addicted to violent video games, under psychiatric care, had a social worker assigned to him (she called the police about how “disturbed” and “angry”he was).

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled program 🙂

I caught more of the details. It seems he stabbed the first three victims (his roommates) which again puts the lie to the whole “banning guns stops murder” theory.

It comes back to mental illness. We need to stop suspending kids who point their finger and say “bang” in school and start taking guns from kids who put manifestos about shooting up sororities on the internet.

    • Constance says:

I saw a report that he stabbed his roommates, shot at women in the street and a man in the store and then used his car as a weapon and ran down people who were walking and biking. So it should be obvious that guns are not the problem. But media need to address his hatred of women. Also there are whores and if he couldn’t get laid by charming women I believe it’s fairly standard and a time honored solution to hire a whore. I have to say he sets off my gaydar (not that there is anything wrong with it) so the whole theme about wanting sex with women seems sort of suspicious to me on a number of levels.
But media jumps to embrace discussion and outrage over hatred of black men, gay men and Jewish men, media need to discuss the hatred of women and what leads to it.

It won’t matter what sexual orientation he is , what matters is what the voices in his head are telling him . He is in the classic age range for schizophrenic break . The anger expresses itself in so many different ways . If he had a social worker , and she was aware he was making threats , to the extent she called the police , he should have been in treatment on a locked unit..

        • 1539days says:

He had private psychiatrists and the police came to see him about his videos. He was diagnosed as high functioning Asperger’s which is becoming a catch-all for people who are anti-social. The police claimed that there is no flag for his situation in gun registrations, so he was able to buy handguns and bullets legally.

Then again, nearly half of the murders he committed were with a knife.

          • mothy67 says:

What kind of meds was he on and it what age did he start taking them? Kids are not diagnosed often because the claim is that the brains are still forming. How are those meds effecting that transformation. So many doped up kids. Age 6 on some powerful shit.Perhaps he wasn’t on any, but with that wealth I highly doubt it.

Does look a bit like a scar. The crazy rich shooter was frick’ing crazy. We should make it harder to buy cars, and certainly we should ban assault cars.

Making gumbo in the kitchen today. Hubby came in with a pound of fresh shrimp and a pound of crawfish tails from a weekend seafood stand. It cost so much he didn’t buy much and they only take cash. So gumbo with okra for today. I will cook hamburgers on the charcoal grill tomorrow.

    • Constance says:

No, I’m walking down to the German Tavern down the street for some kind of sausage in a pretzel bun and a beer and calling it good. I had a cook out last weekend and I just got rid of all the left overs.

This is so sad. So many are jumping on bandwagons regarding this case . People are picking out parts of this manifesto this very sick kid wrote , and ascribing some kind if sense to it , while calling other parts completely crazy . Because one sentence proves your case in a manifesto of insanity? The pro and anti gun folks , the “feminists” , even though he killed four males of the six that are deceased . The guy wasn’t “trying to get laid ” and sex wouldn’t have solved his problem . He didn’t know how to” be” a human being , and connect with other people , and live his life , He was losing his grip on reality , slipping further and further into a psychotic world and he was angry . He should have been in the hospital. Many many people who suffer this illness , and especially young people , refuse their medications as he did . They are hospitalized by their family and Md for medication non compliance , because they become a danger to themselves and others .

Hahahahha. Think of the laws they violated. Who is going to jail. Nobody. Remember Valerie Plame? This is much more serious than that. But nothing will be done. And the media and the Prog freaks will say nothing.
