I Ain’t Buying It

"Remember - blame it on the video!"

“Remember – blame it on the video!”

Edward Klein at the NY Post:

Clinton bristled at Benghazi deception

By 10 p.m. on Sept. 11, 2012, when Hillary Clinton received a call from President Obama, she was one of the most thoroughly briefed officials in Washington on the unfolding disaster in Benghazi, Libya.

She knew that Ambassador Christopher Stevens and a communications operator were dead, and that the attackers had launched a well-coordinated mortar assault on the CIA annex, which would cost the lives of two more Americans.
She had no doubt that a terrorist attack had been launched against America on the anniversary of 9/11.

However, when Hillary picked up the phone and heard Obama’s voice, she learned the president had other ideas in mind. With less than two months before Election Day, he was still boasting that he had al Qaeda on the run.
If the truth about Benghazi became known, it would blow that argument out of the water.

“Hillary was stunned when she heard the president talk about the Benghazi attack,” one of her top legal advisers said in an interview. “Obama wanted her to say that the attack had been a spontaneous demonstration triggered by an obscure video on the Internet that demeaned the Prophet Mohammed.”

This adviser continued: “Hillary told Obama, ‘Mr. President, that story isn’t credible. Among other things, it ignores the fact that the attack occurred on 9/11.’ But the president was adamant. He said, ‘Hillary, I need you to put out a State Department release as soon as possible.’”

After her conversation with the president, Hillary called Bill Clinton, who was at his penthouse apartment in the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, and told him what Obama wanted her to do.

“I’m sick about it,” she said, according to the legal adviser, who was filled in on the conversation.

“That story won’t hold up,” Bill said. “I know,” Hillary said. “I told the president that.” “It’s an impossible story,” Bill said. “I can’t believe the president is claiming it wasn’t terrorism. Then again, maybe I can. It looks like Obama isn’t going to allow anyone to say that terrorism has occurred on his watch.”

Hillary’s legal adviser provided further detail: “During their phone call, Bill started playing with various doomsday scenarios, up to and including the idea that Hillary consider resigning as secretary of state over the issue. But both he and Hillary quickly agreed that resigning wasn’t a realistic option.

If her resignation hurt Obama’s chances of winning re-election, her fellow Democrats would never forgive her. Hillary was already thinking of running for president in 2016, and her political future, as well as Obama’s, hung in the balance.”

Maybe it’s just a coincidence but Edward Klein has a book coming out this week called “Blood Feud: The Clintons vs. the Obamas”.

A lot of people are gonna run with this story. A lot of Republicans won’t care if it’s true and a lot of Hillary supporters will want it to be true. It’s nice and juicy and incriminating and all wrapped up neatly with a bow.

That’s the problem – it’s a little too neat.

I’m not saying that the underlying premise of the story is false, I’m saying that this is like one of those jailhouse informants who claims that the murder suspect made a full confession to him one night in their cell.

The suspect may be guilty of murder but the informant is full of shit.

Edward Klein is the same guy who in 2007 published “The Truth About Hillary: What She Knew, When She Knew It, and How Far She’ll Go to Become President” in which he claimed that Hillary and Huma Abedin were lesbian lovers. I think it’s highly unlikely that anyone in Hillary’s inner-circle would be feeding him information and if this story is true then his informant is very close to Hillary.

The Benghazi Deception has David Axelrod’s and David Plouffe’s greasy fingerprints all over it. It’s already well established that on the night of September 11, 2012 Obama had already clocked out and went home. If Hillary received marching orders that night they didn’t come directly from Obama.

Not to mention that there is no evidence that Hillary was a reluctant part of the cover-up.

There will be another IRS hearing today, this time with Darrell Issa’s committee. There should be lots of fireworks.

  2. votermom says:

I don’t see how this story helps Hillary.
But then I despise collaborators who actually know that they are doing wrong but are too cowardly to do right.

    • The Klown says:

Cowardice may be understandable and/or forgivable. But it is not a desirable quality in a leader.

Doing the right thing might have ended Hillary’s career. But it would still be the right thing.

    • elliesmom says:

I don’t think it helps or hurts her. To the people who believe Benghazi is a non-issue, what Hillary knew and when she knew it is a non-issue, too. For those of us to whom Benghazi does matter, Hillary was either complicit in the cover up or too incompetent to know what was happening in her own department on her watch. Either one is a disqualifier.

  3. jeffhas says:

Well, I can buy this load only if we change the name of Obama as the message deliverer to Assholelrod (maybe Plouffe as you suggest) complete with threats about ‘doomsday scenarios’….

But even if I buy it, it’s not provable unless Hillary or Ass confirm… So it’s convenient gossip, and it also helps no one – now, had she resigned, it might show some strength… But alas, she did not – crippling her to some degree… She could however answer truthfully that Benghazi was her biggest regret – which would beg the question: “not protecting the Ambassador properly? Or having to toe the line on a narrative you knew was false?”

“…. And if you knew it was false, how do you live with yourself knowing that the video maker is still in jail some 2 years later?”

This is a big stain on her career no matter which way it goes…. and it’s all tied to her wanting or accepting the SOS job.

Lie down with dog(eater), get fleas.

    • jeffhas says:

… And it does explain why she Woolf not appear on the Sunday talk shows…

Well, it would be irresponsible not to speculate.

      • lorac1 says:

The film maker was released from jail after one year, he’s not still in jail

        • votermom says:

Wasn’t there a story recently that he was actually working for the FBI?

        • jeffhas says:

Thank you!… Of course 1 year of your life in jail still seems rough for this ‘crime’.

          • DeniseVB says:

Wasn’t he nabbed on a parole violation or something? Still, very convenient to “blame” him.

          • cynic says:

Wasn’t it amazing that five men hauled him to jail, in the dead of the night, with his face covered, and someone was there to take that picture! Do we have ‘proof’ that the man sat in jail for a year? Or do we believe that story? I’d like to see his bank account after this whole ordeal. It all stinks, and just call me a cynic.

          • lyn says:

We wouldn’t have to guess about these things if we had a national press that did its job.

  4. You know, I am familiar with this writer and this publisher. Regnery’s track record is well known as the group who inflamed the Monica Lewinsky story line. Duly noted.
However, this writer has had also a very credible career. As the 10-year editor of the New York Times Magazine, the Foreign Affairs Editor of Newsweek, and other things, I can’t help but have the feeling that SOMEONE credible is talking to him and that even among the filth and the dubious claims that there is still more than a kernel of truth to what he writes.

    • elliesmom says:

Anyone not wearing blinders can see there is no love or respect between these two couples, and the entire premise behind the book is entirely credible. I question how an author can quote conversations one would expect to have taken place privately, but not that the substance of the conversation may have occurred. If we can believe her, Hillary put her own ambitions aside for the good of the Democratic Party. If Hillary is the best hope for the Democrats to hold onto the White House, it will be interesting to see if the Obamas work as hard to get her elected as they did him. I suspect not, and with a cooled down Obamabot army, she may not be a shoo in. I predict the book will sell rather well. I wonder what his advance looks like.

    • 49erDweet says:

I make it agenda driven informed speculation. Worth about 90¢ a pound.

  5. DeniseVB says:

I’m not at all a fan of “anonymous” sources, but this style of reporting is what put Nixon away. Wasn’t it Deep Throat ?

Some conservative blogs are calling the book fanboy fiction, yet the scenario seems to have been dancing in our heads since 9-11-12.

  6. lorac1 says:

It’s already well established that on the night of September 11, 2012 Obama had already clocked out and went home.

The timeline I read some time ago has Obama talking by phone to Israel around 7 pm and Hillary by phone at 10 pm. After talking with him, she sent the press release. Brett Baier knew about tne 10 pm conversation and asked her about it in his interview with her.

    • Somebody says:

Not according to Hillary’s interview with Fox news. In that interview Bret Baier specifically asks Clinton did she release her statement before or after she talked to Obama. She rambles on a bit and finally says she released it before her phone call with Obama. When I watched that interview her statement on that made it clear to me she was taking responsiblity as the first offical liar with regards to the video story. Here is the clip the question and answer specifically related to this starts at the 5:59 mark.

So if she is to be believed in her interview then clearly she spoke to Obama before and she wasn’t telling the truth in the Fox interview or perhaps Axelrod or someone else told her to push the video.

      • DandyTIger says:

Obama is truly an empty suit, puppet, so when she talked to him is irrelevant, and always has been. What matters is when she talked to ValJay or Axelrod as you say, or others.

The PR firm of Pluff and Dude! (Vietor) says “Let’s change the subject to Hillary!” The media is not to get off their fat asses and report on any policy implosions, poll dips, NOAA data rigging, border invasion, Lerner/IRS lying (badly) or Iraq. Look! A trashy book about Hill and Bill that the media can sit in their $2000 ergonomic chair and click bait. TPTB like to accuse the public of having a short attention span and memory but it is really the media that has the mentality of a horse fly. I started to use fruit fly but caught myself from using a gender insensitive term.

I’m kind of loving it. It’s pitting the Obots against the Hbots. (I got the TM on that). Maybe if they go back and forth enough, each trying to throw the other under the bus, they’ll all go under the bus. I’m making popcorn and having fun watching this. And no, I don’t believe this shit for a second. She was a willing part of the cover up.

    • Lulu says:

I think they are all disgusting. Ex-Prezzies and First Ladies should be above this shit. Really! Take the honor of being an ex Prez and ex-SoS/Senator and get the fuck out of town for god’s sake. Have some dignity. Stop gossiping with a bunch of trashy assholes who tattle.

      • lyn says:

        ^This^ 😀

      • leslie says:

        What Lulu says.
And BTW, has anyone noticed the photos used for this book (at least in the NYPost)? They show the O’s as young, “Swinging” hip, confident, and the photos of the Clintons as old, retired, sedentary. Nothing to see here as far as bias. /sarcasm

      • foxyladi14 says:

I’ve ordered up 154 more buses for them to be thrown under, otherwise they cudda run out.

I thought I was eating the popcorn all by myself ! Pass the butter and salt ! It is bound to get better , and there is still lots of time , the pearl clutching is just getting started . 🙂
And yes, she had to be complicit . No getting around it .

  10. cynic says:

Let’s not forget the story from Greta Van Susteren about her friend that works at the White House.
That friend told her that FOX should stop Jennifer Griffin on reporting on the Benghazi story, because Jennifer was wrong.

Van Susteren asserted recently on her blog that the administration made an extensive effort to conceal what happened in Benghazi. She cited U.S. officials’ refusal to include the Fox News Channel in several Benghazi briefings along with a warning that her colleague’s career would be ruined if she persisted in her reporting on the attack.

  11. DandyTIger says:

EPA ruling from the SCOTUS (mostly in favor of the EPA):

In a 7-2 vote, the justices agreed the Environmental Protection Agency could force major polluters to use new and better technology to limit their emissions of carbon dioxide.

“These are major polluting facilities, such as factories and coal-fired power plants,” said Justice Antonin Scalia, and they are already subject to EPA restrictions. Now, those restrictions can include limits on greenhouse gases, he said.

But in a separate 5-4 vote, the court struck down an EPA regulation that could have extended the required greenhouse gas permits to millions of other facilities. Scalia said EPA had stretched the law to cover new facilities that were not major polluters.

While most of the court’s opinion dealt with the rejected permitting rules, the court said EPA had won more than it had lost.

“It bears mentioning that EPA is getting almost everything it wanted in this case,” Scalia said in the courtroom.

I think the video was a manufactured piece of sleeper propaganda by somebody in the world of agencies and homeland security. It had been up on youtube unnoticed for months, ready to be used as needed. Question is who created it and who decided to promote it after 9/11/12. I don’t see Hillary or State being part of either. It’s not what State does. She went along with it for sure, and Klein is not a credible source. But his accounting may nevertheless not be far off.

  15. The Klown says:

The shark has officially been jumped:

Strategist Donna Brazile, a Clinton supporter, said scrutiny of Clinton’s speaking fees smacks of sexism.

“I hope Hillary never apologizes for trying to earn a living,” Brazile said. “She’s no different than [former secretary of state] Colin Powell, no different than [former Florida governor] Jeb Bush, no different than anybody else who’s left public office and looked for ways to make an income. . . . What is wrong with a woman having the same earning potential as any man?”

Donna Brazile-Wax is a stain on the mattress of humanity.

I decided to watch Lawrence O’Donnell’s return to MSNBC. So far, he did throw a bone to the Koch brothers’ contributions to medicine, especially since O’Donnell was treated at one of their hospital after his car accident.

So, it will basically take the Koch brothers saving every individual prog’s life to maybe get them to take their money.
