WORM – What Obama Really Meant

From the Department of You Can’t Make This Shit Up:

White House: We are not at war

In a truly shameful display, the administration has spent the day after President Barack Obama’s address to the nation outlining his proposed response to the threat posed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria by downplaying his address to the nation.

America is not going to “war,” per say, according to Secretary of State John Kerry and White House Press Sec. Josh Earnest. No, what they envision is merely another counter-terror operation. Just like the supposedly model operations ongoing in nearly imploding Yemen, or in Somalia, which has become synonymous for ‘basket case failed state.’

While traveling in the Middle East to shore up support for what everyone sure thought was going to be a war to “degrade and destroy” ISIS, America’s chief diplomat took the opportunity to clarify the president’s thinking.

“What we are doing is engaging in a very significant counter-terrorism operation,” Kerry said. “If somebody wants to think about it as being a war with ISIL they can do so, but the fact is it’s a major counter-terrorism operation.”

[…]

The White House’s insistence that the present campaign is merely a continuation of George W. Bush’s War on Terror is unlikely to quiet the increasingly loud voices in Congress demanding a vote on a new authorization.

Okay, well, even if we’re playing legal games with the word “war” and are trying to avoid the politics of getting the people’s representatives to sanction military action abroad, at least there is a plan for victory, right?

“What does victory look like here?” Earnest was asked on Thursday. “What does destroy mean?”

“I didn’t bring my Webster’s dictionary,” Earnest replied.

This administration is like a bad acid trip.

Seriously, WTF?

I need alcohol. And drugs.

Lots of drugs.

This shit has got to scare the shit out of our allies.

    • WMCB says:

It scares me. These idiots are clueless.

      • insanelysane says:

The galling part is the willful ignorance of anyone who had open eyes in 2007-08. In all the many debates, O was clueless. His ex temporary words were bad day old salads.
He was pathetic. We, here, saw it clearly.
Now we are supposed to believe all these high paid smart folks are just now getting the absurd lameness.
        Please.

  2. WMCB says:

They believe ever so fervently in the Great God Progress. He will make it right, you’ll see. Fools.

  3. votermom says:

We are always at war with Eastasia.

We are never at war with ISIS which by the way is not Islamic.

  4. Anthony says:

    Jesus F. Christ……….

This has gone from funny to frightening. Does anyone in this administration know what the f*ck they’re doing???

  6. The Klown says:

Normally when a POTUS makes a big policy speech, his minions go out to explain the policy to Congress, our allies and the public. It is implicit that the announced policy is a final product, not just the notes from a weed-fueled late-nite brainstorming session.

The minions DON’T go out to deviate from what their boss said. It is assumed that the POTUS chose his words carefully and that he and the senior members of his administration are all on the same page.

This crap begs the question: Who, if anyone, is in charge?

  7. SHV says:

“Who, if anyone, is in charge?”
    *****
The official WH photo of Obama and Ben Rhodes in the Oval Office pretty much says it all. Ben is is Obama’s big idea man on foreign policy.

I’ve told you guys before that while I’m not a Distributist, I do agree with many of their critiques and ideas. This is a good article. What is “The Global Economy?”

    http://distributistreview.com/mag/2012/08/what-is-the-global-economy/

    • WMCB says:

I do mostly agree with many of their FAQ’s:

      Are you Capitalists or Socialists?

Neither. Capitalism–or Proletarianism–is a system bent on the maximization of returns on investments, and seeks it at the expense of labor and the common good. Socialism aims to eliminate ownership and place it in the hands of an impersonal, centralized government. Both systems–Capitalism and Socialism–limit real ownership in practice. The only difference between a Socialist state and a Capitalist state is whether power is concentrated in a few private or a few bureaucratic hands.

So you don’t support “Big Government”?

Distributists are decentralists who believe most organizational functions (whether business, government, or labor) should occur at the smallest competent level as possible (subsidiarity). Institutions like local guilds and governments exist to curb large-scale control, whether bureaucratic or commercial.

OT: the latest shock-and-awe about Palin… somebody sounds desperate to get a story…

    • DeniseVB says:

I think that story broke on Wonkette by someone named “commiegirl” via their Palinhatin’ sources in AK who are still trying to destroy the family.

Isn’t Sarah a private citizen ? I have a bad feeling someone’s going to press charges anyhow.

      • votermom says:

I hope Todd got to beat up some prog.

      • 49erDweet says:

Wow, that’s serious stuff. Thank goodness the folks we DID elect would never do bad stuff like that. I think I’ll change my vote this year and………………………okay, JUST KIDDING!
I tivo and watch Alaska State Trooper just for the laughs. I’m trying to visualize how many troopers they would’ve needed to respond to that melee. I’m down to none. Maybe one VSPO responding by dog sled all the way from Homer would just about do it.

        • DeniseVB says:

Have you ever watched that Buying Alaska show? Like House Hunters, but on another channel. Hubster did a few fishing adventures to AK and now wants to moooove there. Not really, I mean he can, but I won’t unless the home has indoor plumbing and wifi Mud and bears and outdoor loos, Oh My!

          • 49erDweet says:

Yeah, we do. My son has his own boat in Naknek, on Bristol Bay and spends a half a year there every May and June hauling in sockeye salmon. Did pretty well this year. We wouldn’t mind spending April thru Oct there, (not in Naknek) but forget the winters. 🙂

This whole Admin looks like they run a small to medium-ish local government like the one I grew up in….about 80K people. 🙂

    • 49erDweet says:

And in the past six years have pretty well run it into the ground. Now all the major taxpayers have moved away and no one left living there has a chance of making it. But cheer up, because taxes won’t go up THAT much.

The new witness stated that Brown was running away with his hands in the air when he was shot. Why would he be running with his hands in the air? That’s kind of awkward. The grand jury seems to be taking its time.

      • DeniseVB says:

Didn’t the Dr OJ guy autopsy report say Brown was struck from the front? There were no “back” gunshot wounds? That video was weird, like a vine.

        • SHV says:

The drawing presented by the non-MD forensic “specialist” seemed to show all entrance wounds were in the front and it appeared that some of the arm wounds also had exit then entrance into the chest. That would seem to indicate Brown was facing the shooter with arms down. The fatal shot, through the top of the forehead is consistent with running head forward toward the shooter. All of that is consistent with the unintended captured voice account that Brown “Bum rushed” the cop.

Even creepy gits like Mahler are getting IT. The professional left’s schtick of the “religion of peace” was tossed with the beheading videos. The narrative was not controlled adequately. With the WH screwing up getting “journalists” back the ISIS freaks also beheaded a president. Obama has been symbolically executed by his own dogma.

  23. 1539days says:

Obama is literally trying to tell us what the definition of IS is.

  24. Kathy says:

Probably the second time I have agreed with Maher….btw, afew people in D.C. Must be concerned that someone with no qualifications is the national security advisor .

    • Somebody says:

I don’t know what site that is, but the story doesn’t hold up. Interpol wouldn’t go to the chief justice. The supposed charges read more like impeachment proceedings they’re domestic and relate to the constitution. Interpol is international they wouldn’t concern themselves with domestic matters only international matters.

LOL. That is a good one. WRM nails him as the great procrastinator in this one: http://www.the-american-interest.com/wrm/2014/09/11/a-president-surrenders/
“The policy of delay bought Obama nothing and cost him dearly. Procrastination was an unmitigated disaster for him, reducing his credibility abroad and his stature at home. He didn’t want to arm the moderates in Syria because he was afraid U.S. weapons would go to ISIS; so the U.S. stayed out, and ISIS swooped across Iraq, capturing more U.S. weapons (and more sophisticated weapons) than any leaks from Syrian Sunnis could have given it. Now, with ISIS sitting on a large U.S. weapons arsenal, President Obama is going to pump more weapons to the “moderates”—a group that is less reliable, in a worse military position, more radicalized, and more factionalized than they were when he first refused to arm them. The President is like a man who refused to jump into what he saw as too deep and dangerous of a hole, and then watched for three years while the hole grew deeper before finally taking the plunge.”

Mead elegantly gives Bronco some outs that are not deserved but at least the foot dragging goofing off is being noticed. He throws in a few zingers about weakness and tone deafness but the underlying implication which Mead is too polite to mention is a war is too much effort and work for Bronco so he dawdles to try to get out of it.
