Some good news, for a change:

Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi freed from Mexican jail, immediately returns to US after strong diplomatic support

After 214 days in a Mexican prison, Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi crossed the US – Mexican border Friday night, boarding a private jet for Florida shortly after 9 p.m., after a strong diplomatic push convinced a judge to release the former Marine on humanitarian grounds.

His release comes after a lengthy trial and a Congressional hearing in September highly critical of Obama Administration efforts to secure his release and Mexico’s refusal to let him go. Tahmooressi said he made an innocent mistake the evening he crossed into Tijuana with three weapons in his truck on March 31.

While his defense rested its case several weeks ago, Tahmooressi’s release came only after a strong diplomatic push from former Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico and Reps. Ed Royce (R-CA) and Matt Salmon (R-AZ).

The three officials, along with Tahmooressi’s mother Jill, have spent the last week in Tijuana pressing officials for his release.

Speaking by phone on his way to board a plane with Tahmooressi, Richardson said the trio, along with talk show host Montel Williams, met with Mexico’s Attorney General and Ambassador to the US, advocating for his liberation.

Upon release, Mexican officials processed him quickly through immigration, Richardson said.

“He was happy. He was smiling. He’s looking good. His spirits are high,” Richardson told Fox News, adding that Tahmooressi said he wants a steak dinner and stone crabs.

But Richardson also said Tahmooressi is seeking privacy and still needs to receive treatment for his Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, something that wasn’t available in Mexican prison– a key argument put forth by defense attorney Fernando Benitez.

Benitez said that Tahmooressi was continuing to deteriorate and Mexico didn’t have the expertise or facilities to treat his PTSD, which he suffered after two tours in Afghanistan.

The defense attorney also alleged that customs agents held Tahmooerssi illegally, denying him access to a translator, lawyer and consular access.

But after the seven-month ordeal, it was the PTSD argument that ultimately pressured the judge to acquit Tahmooressi.

“The judicial process of Mexico made the right choice,” Richardson said. “The humanitarian release was justified based on PTSD, something that the Mexican judicial and medical system is not as conscious of as the United States.”

While his release was granted by the trial judge, Richardson acknowledged it likely would not have happened without political pressure.

“The totality of diplomacy, the judicial process, the legal strategy and the importance of the American-Mexican relationship resulted in Andrew’s release,” Richardson said. “And now we have this great outcome. Andrew’s coming home.”

Congratulations, a big “Welcome Home!” and best wishes to Sgt. Tahmooressi. I’m sure his friends and family are overjoyed.

What I want to know is where were Obama, John Kerry, and Tony Wayne (the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico)? According to my high school civics instructor the President is in charge of all that foreign policy and diplomacy stuff. The Secretary of State is our chief diplomat, supervising all of our ambassadors. Our Ambassador to Mexico handles diplomacy with our southern neighbor.

Shouldn’t they have been involved?

To the best of my knowledge they have not even mentioned Tahmooressi’s name, let alone lifted a finger to help him.

That is really fucked up when you consider how hard the Obama administration worked to free Bowe Bergdahl, a deserter and possible traitor.

I realize that President Obama is very busy, what will all the golfing, fundraising and posing for photo ops he has to do. He hugged Ebola nurse and gave speeches last month too. That’s a lot of work, even for a superior human being like Obama.

But couldn’t he have at least appointed a czar to handle it?

Oh, well. Happy All Saints Day.

It’s November!

So Glad he is home. This man deserved a lot better then he got from a government whom he served with honor.
May the absence of valor of the backtrack bunch never be forgotten.

  2. HELENK3 says:

think of the contrast of who the backtrack bunch think are their kind of people and who are not.

Sgt Tahmooressi should be so proud that he is NOT backtrack’s kind of people

Maybe someone should do a little expose on her glorious parenting skills.

    • leslie says:

How you gonna keep her down in Ferguson, after she’s seen Geneva???

She’s going to get herself ostracized in her own community, and the people who are putting her in those hoity toity places won’t want to have anything to do with her when they’re through using her.

Happy Saturday also Happy November friends Gobble Gobble.
Plus and this is Very Very important Vote on Nov. 4th. 😀

LOL, as soon as we turned off the porch light last night, Mr.VB and Special Greg started on the Thanksgiving shopping list ! I can’t catch a break 😉

  4. DeniseVB says:

Hmmm, right before midterms too. If Obama did have anything to do with the release, the timing is purely political. Happy about the release, but it should have been within days not months. Team Obama had that power all along.

    • foxyladi14 says:

Yes Denise And you can bet you Bippy that Obama will give a speech and claim credit for this.

      • leslie says:

Yes, but he’s one of us. They do nothing for people who are “not their own”. Bergdahl was one of them.

        • The Klown says:

No administration in our history has been so politicized and petty. Everything they say and do is based on some political calculus with whether it helps or hurts Obama as it’s primary focus, followed by rewarding his friends and cronies and punishing his enemies. It’s not really even partisan, because he doesn’t really give a fuck about the Democratic party either.

It is completely amoral. What is good for America is irrelevant. The law and the Constitution are obstacles to be overcome.

          • DeniseVB says:

Obama has even admitted the Constitution gets in his way in his attempts to transform us into a third world country and making him President for Life.

          • leslie says:

You are absolutely correct. I woke up thinking about the utter destruction that lies in the wake of this administration. And our nation has not just been compromised, it has been laid waste.

          • cynic says:

I was over at Ace reading up on possible candidates for 2016. It’s all pretty depressing. I’m not sure who can clean up the mess that we’re in. This goes back years, and it’s not all Obama’s fault.

We are raising a group of people that needs the ‘Obama’ type’; attractive, charismatic, able to tell a joke, etc. Can you imagine a video of a ‘Jindal or Walker’ girl? What can we expect from the 18-35 voting group? They have been fed in college a liberal view, the media is in the tank for the left, and if you mention anything conservative, they attack you for being a FOX viewer. No wonder all the polls tell us that we feel we’re heading in the wrong direction, put more faith in the GOP for defense, jobs, etc., but yet all the races seem to be too close to call. It makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. There is such a disconnect, and if the GOP doesn’t take the Senate, and get rid of Harry Reid, I think I’m going to unplug the TV. The scary part is, though, I don’t get inspired by Mitch McConnell either!

Who will unite this country or inspire us to want to pitch in and work together. The internet spews hate, discord, etc. Just read the comments. We have become quite the selfish society, with a ‘what’s in it for me attitude’.

One more thing, Hillary isn’t the answer. When I see clips of her, she seems tired, and sooooo uninspiring. Have to say, I don’t even want to listen to her. I’d rather listen to Warren than her.

          • Constance says:

Very true and it should be easy for Republicans to draw an appealing contrast to the Obot regime in 2016 but I wouldn’t bet on them. For one thing they need to dump that Reince Priebus guy who hasn’t been able to hype the Republican brand and their real history with minorities (Lincoln was a Republican, etc).

    • Constance says:

Really strange that the Obama regime hasn’t tried to take credit for Tahmooressi’s release, it would be a perfect way to look populist which should appeal to them. Maybe it is the whole gun aspect of it that Obots can’t stomach.

  5. foxyladi14 says:

I am so happy that our Marine is home finally. 🙂

this scares the hell out of me. how far will he sell out this country to get his so-called legacy?

  7. piper says:

wouldn’t put it past the golf won to try to grab the honor of bringing him home. Welcome home Sgt. Tahmooressi.

  8. mothy6767 says:

Hope the kid is surrounded by people he can trust and finds a way to deal with everything he has endured. Sure Hollywood will soon belch up some generic biopic Every talk show will soon be knocking. Maybe Greta will stick with and offer some legal guidance. Either control the narrative or shun the limelight .
Bill was fine with getting Lisa Ling’s sister out of N. Korea but silence on this.

  9. HELENK3 says:

I was looking for a coming home song but they were all sad. This is not a time to be sad so i will use this one

    • mothy6767 says:

So appalling. Little shattered lives. Would never wish that on any kid but I wish some of these policies would effect the tony progressive hoods. Border agents, police officers, innocent LEGAL citizens destroyed/ended, health care workers, soldiers. Lives put at risk or snuffed out because their lives mean less. How would the bleeding hearts feel if one of the strategies struck closer to home.

  10. DeniseVB says:

Twitchy has Rep. Salmon’s twitter feed and who he thanks for the successful release. Hint: Not Obama 😉

  11. HELENK3 says:

if backtrack has the nerve to Invite Sgt Tahmooressi to the white house for a photo op I really hope he says NO Thanks. But does go to the offices of the congressmen who worked to get him home

    • HELENK3 says:

      more parents should do that

Islam has been introduced into more and more curriculum. I don’t have an issue with discussing any religion, after all religions and/or religious beliefs have shaped much of history. I do take issue with some of what I’ve seen because of accuracy. Islam has been sugar coated and don’t even get me started on the bullshit peddled about Sharia law.

Also, if you’re going to teach about any religion in the context of history then you need to be as neutral as possible, but you also need to be honest. I take issue with how any mention of Christianity is just about taboo in schools, but Islam is just fine. If one is taboo then the other should be, or you need to have as fair and as accurate a representation as possible and limit it to historical influence or perhaps current day policies and politics.

  14. DeniseVB says:

Sarah’s FB post this morning, says it all 😀

What wonderful news that Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi will be free on U.S. soil—finally!—after being imprisoned in Mexico for the past eight months. It’s been such a bizarre situation and so disappointing as we hear reports that the White House never did fight for our Marine’s freedom. If true, then President Obama once again broke that sacred commitment to never leave an American behind. If I’m wrong on this, I’ll be more than happy to acknowledge the President’s efforts to see an honored vet set free. Prayers and well wishes go out to Sgt. Tahmooressi and all who have been so dedicated to his plight, especially Andrew’s joy-filled mother today. I had the honor of speaking with her a few months ago and have admired her commitment in seeking justice for her son. She’s fought doggedly for Andrew’s release; her efforts paid off. Great volunteer organizations worked so hard for this outcome, and FOX News’ Greta Van Susteren kept this important story of seemingly obvious injustice in the news even when few others reported on it. I hope the press will keep pursuing truth in the matter, in the name of justice for all. The best of everything, Andrew! Find peace and fulfillment in this new chapter of life!

no more sales of windows 7 and windows 8
I thought windows 10 was not coming out until some time in 2015. Can’t not believe they would not have some kind on windows 10 in time for the Christmas buying

    • mothy67 says:

Windows sucks. My desktop crashes all the time or freezes up. Scanned no viruses(with Norton and MacAfee). Piece of garbage. Never had problems with XP or Vista.

    • 1539days says:

Microsoft is still selling 8.1, which is Windows 8 that acts like Windows 7. Windows 7 has been around for a while now, but I’m still using XP on my home theater machine. Microsoft has been trying to kill and bury Windows XP for a while now, but they promised long-term support for the embedded version to corporate customers. I guess the best they can do instead and dump Windows 7 and 8. which are pretty similar to 8.1, until 10 comes out.

  16. The Klown says:

Justice Department investigators have all but concluded they do not have a strong enough case to bring civil rights charges against Darren Wilson, the white police officer who shot and killed an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Mo., law enforcement officials said.

When racial tension boiled over in Ferguson after the Aug. 9 shooting, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. traveled to the St. Louis suburb to meet with city leaders and protest organizers in an effort to bring calm. He assured them that the federal government would open a civil rights investigation into the fatal shooting of Michael Brown. But that investigation now seems unlikely to result in any charges.

“The evidence at this point does not support civil rights charges against Officer Wilson,” said one person briefed on the investigation, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case.

Justice Department officials are loath to acknowledge publicly that their case cannot now meet the high legal threshold for a successful civil rights prosecution.

The threshold is the same as any criminal case: probable cause to arrest, proof beyond a reasonable doubt to convict.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that as with George Zimmerman, the problem isn’t a lack of evidence of guilt, it’s an abundance of evidence of innocence.

    • The Klown says:

      From the comments:

They can freely drive where ever they want w/o having to worry about being stopped by cops.

I am white and the reason I don’t worry about getting stopped by the cops is I am obeying the law, I have a valid driver license, my vehicle is registered, insured, and in good operating condition, I don’t have any warrants out for my arrest (that I know of), I am not drunk or stoned, I am not carrying drugs or stolen property, I am not fleeing the scene of a crime, and I don’t plan to run or fight if I get pulled over.

The most I might have to worry about is a fix-it ticket for a bad taillight I didn’t know about.

    • Constance says:

Another stupid Democrat woman who truly thinks that by giving up on Hillary in 2008 and installing Obama they insured the Democrats will push for a woman Presidential nominee in 2016. Get this through you idiot heads Democrat women, the Dems don’t give a rats ass about having a woman President, in fact they are more likely to back a first out of the closet gay male President, a first Hispanic male President, a first Jewish male President, a first one armed male President, a first blind in one eye male President, etc, etc, etc. But first woman President is something Democrats have actively tried to prevent.

  18. foxyladi14 says:

I have seen it a couple of places, Nothing on the Obamedia tho. 😯

  19. Constance says:

You have to conclude that the Obots didn’t really want to get Bowe Bergdahl, what they wanted was to free the 5 terrorists that they traded for him,Bergdahl was just a convenient excuse.

Too bad we couldn’t have traded several million Mexican citizens who are here illegally taking scarce jobs needed by US citizens for Tahmooressi.

Once again , I am mind boggled as to how a political mind set can overrule understanding , empathy and compassion ; not to mention common sense and LOYALTY to a fellow Veteran .
But this time , the responses are just frightening . What a display of lack of humaneness and fellow feeling .

The Marine who wandered into Mexico with a trunkload of guns is to be released:
I’m predicting that all the wingnuts spamming my FB feed will either A.) Ignore this or B.) Find a way to blame Obama for it taking so long.

Besides distorting the facts “The Marine ” had three guns , not a trunkload , I guess if you are a Vile Prog , all you need to take a stand is to have anyone from the opposition support something , or Obama stonewall it , and you can have a knee jerk , koolaid swilling , incomprehensible reaction to a situation in which otherwise one might expect some rational response. I guess not .
The comments are just plain stupid , and heart breaking in their display of lack of compassion . And sickening .
