Countdown to Ferguson

The grand jury investigating the shooting of Michael Brown could issue its decision soon, possibly even this afternoon. Most people expect that they will decide not to indict officer Darren Wilson but a few are holding out hope for an indictment for murder.

Will the reaction to their decision fizzle or sizzle?

I’m betting on fizzle.

It’s cold and there will be a bazillion cops on duty. That is not nearly as conducive to rioting and looting as warm weather and no cops in sight.

Earlier today I was discussing the Reginald Denny beating which took place during the Rodney King riots in 1992. My comment was “That scene would have played out differently if Denny had been armed.”

FTR: I thought the Rodney King beating was a clear case of police brutality and that not only should the cops involved be sent to prison but the other cops who stood back and watched and did nothing and did not report the beating should have all been fired.

OTOH: I think the police and National Guard should have reacted more quickly and more forcefully to stop the rioting.

While we’re waiting for the decision (and praying for a blizzard), here’s another special snowflake who hopes to unite Dems and Republicans …. by supporting Rand Paul ! The deal’s off if he picks Huckabee as his running mate 😉

The world has lost it. My 67 year old mother was in the yard discussing hand guns with the neighbor. Not a debate about gun control. They were talking about weight grip and recoil.Ammo. concealed where to practice.
My mother spells out shit when she tells a joke. Great grandmother now she is excited to pack hit. Actually told us she wants a gun for Christmas. WACKO already bought a safe for it to keep on her nightstand. A few years ago she was MSNBC now Judge Jeanine and Harris Faulkner are her favorites. My dad is reading Atlas Shrugged and he wants to debate objectivity. Man is 71 and studied to be a deacon. 47 years we have never sat down and discussed a book. Fascinating. He didn’t study literature so he is not deconstructing recontructing the novel. We were talking about individualism and I said you have to remember where and when a person wrote. I said take Nietzsche well he is reading Thus Spoke Zarathustra and Camus Myth of the Sisyphus.
So I know have a gun toting mother and a nihilist father.

You should have seen me with the DISH man tonight. I tried to be nice. He had his truck in front of my driveway. Illegal but new neighbor so I knocked on the door and politely said my dad has COPD and was going to be home soon. Legally you cannot block a driveway. I was trying to be nice. My dad is 71 and carries an oxygen tank. He is now working for the rail road. He picks people up and takes them to a hotel or work site.He is 71 and is only doing it because I obsess that we need to save a hundred thousand for brat’s college. He is working to put her through college.
Me not nice when he did not move the van. I was not being crazy(yet) by saying you are blocking my driveway. House next door was divided into two apartments. I work from home and when it snows in the afternoon I shovel the whole block. No biggie I trust that if my brat ever neededto run to a door my neighbors would not think twice. I put a muzzle on my demon dog during certain hours. I would so work with my neighbor but she was rude. She is 40 something living alone keeps all her lights on all night. I could be decent but you do not cross my family. I will hunt you down. All she had to do was have the DISh guy back up the van 10 feet.
I was less than pretty after it sat there for an hour.

One of the reasons that things in Ferguson may not fizzle would be because the flames will be fanned by Fithian….she’s ready for this one!

Again I want to say I am head over heels for this make your own book gift.Less than 25 dollars gave it to the crud right away. It is 9:30 east coast. She has had it for six hours and she is still babbling on.Story is Super p e t-shirt and the evil squirrel. Dog has a sonic boom and cat cuddles her enemies to death. Kid has a Wii an Xbox a ds3 and every game you can think of She has a karaoke machine. Never touches the stuff. 25 dollar build a book I have to yell it is time for bed. When in life do you get a chance to stop a child from learning. Her twist on the story is that evil squirrel works for himself. Cat and dog are protecting the universe. She has in the last 6 hours created a family tree for the heroine Catherine.
24 bucks hours of creativity. One Wii game costs that much

My god why is Karl Rove allowed to talk?

    • DandyTIger says:

Same reason the corresponding turdblossoms on the Dem side are allowed to talk: not enough guns handy. Hey NSA, that was a joke.

      • mothy67 says:

Rove makes me want to give Ezra a foot massage. The sound of his voice like nails on chalkboard while being run over on a gravel dirt road with the cast of Deliverance smiling at me.
        he is awful.

  22. mothy67 says:

I am never allowed to have a gun. I was young and had a gallon of vodka. You cannot kill yourself in a four foot pool. The body takes over and stays alive. So I was placed in the loony bin. Whatever you do– do not argue the philosophy of suicide when you are on a 72 hour watch.I was “detained” for eight weeks.I had a blast. My favorite was this woman I called Frodo. She wrote to governors, senators, post office workers. She was very coherent when not a scribe. Some things were very sad. People that will never know how to cope drifting on meds. I was in lockdown but it was not like the movies. i had visitors everyday some people never had anyone see them. years. i am kind of grateful for the experience. Loved the nurses and techs. You see a lot in eight weeks. After 56 days of lock down I was told I suffered from depression. I was hoping for something more exotic.

Yeah! The computer is back out of the shop and I can actually see what I type again.
FWIW at the time of the Rodney King thing, and from the POV of a LEO supervisor, I also said the cops involved should be prosecuted, convicted and jailed, and the one’s standing by should be fired. I was disappointed when the state jury blew it. Thankfully the fed jury ended up sending at least two of the cops to prison.

  24. So the network media is stating that that FBI letter said it was possible that professional agitators may infiltrate the Ferguson protests and act out violence against the police taking advantage of the planned protests. It seems to me they are already setting the stage for when the protestors get violent and start burning shut down and shooting at police they can say it wasn’t us, just some outsiders making us look bad. Also mentioned was the computer and communication jamming of police department resources by outsiders. Damn those outsiders. I don’t suppose that Fithian woman would be considered one of those outsiders since she’s a paid community agitator.

I had dinner out last night with a bunch of women engineers. They were in Boston for a big meeting and decided to have a “Girl’s Night Out”. One of my former Girl Scouts was one of them, and she invited me to join them knowing I would fit right in. The topic of “The Shirt” came up. Most of them want to know where they can get the fabric to make themselves a shirt.
