Tee Time For Obama

You didn’t have to be a psychic to see this coming:

I can’t even get outraged at this stuff anymore. This is an intentional fuck-you to his critics. He gave a speech Thursday night, then flew to Las Vegas (at taxpayer expense) on Friday to give basically the same speech.

Now he’s having fun.

Twenty-six more months. Three Christmases. Two birthdays.

Does this mean he’ll be giving lots of speeches in Florida, Arizona and SoCal this winter? Because he can !

  3. piper says:

Does this mean obama doesn’t have to acknowledge or give speech on the 51st anniversary of JFK assassination?

    • Falstaff says:

I’d forgotten all about the anniversary and have seen nothing on it. It happened more than a decade before my birth, so it seems like ancient history. Still, like Pearl Harbor Day, it seems worth a mention.

Unfortunately, history classes in school spend so much time on the early history of our country, kids never get to learn about more recent history. While the older stuff is important, so much of what happened in the last 50 or 60 years is still setting up ripples for us today. Without understanding what the decades of the 60’s and 70’s with the multiple assassinations, the civil unrest, violent protests, the changing attitudes about the military, the schism in the feminist movement, and the spawning of the welfare state, it’s impossible to understand how we got to where we are today. There has been so much distortion of what happened and who did it those of us who lived through it are left shaking our heads. I’m not as concerned that the anniversary hasn’t been mentioned much as I am about our collective amnesia as a country. No one who remembers the Detroit riots of 1967, from which the city never recovered, would ever think looting and burning Ferguson to the ground would be good for “social justice”. But most people your age are not aware of what arguably was the beginning of the end for Detroit.

The closer history gets to current events, the more controversial it becomes. I was a kid in the 60’s and 70’s, and my memories don’t jibe with some versions of that era.

I wonder what someone who lived in the colonial period, Revolution or Civil War would think of our conception of those eras?

The thing that is maddening is that no one holds him accountable. After his f*ck you to the GOP this week, they shrugged and said, “I dunno what to do,” and went on vacation.

        King Sub-Par the Ist.
I still feel the rage toward him that I have had all along. It’s never left. I see his photo and want to shut down my computer. I hear his voice and want to throw up so I hit the mute button. When people are driving in front of me with their 2008 or 2012 bumper stickers in my view, I want to run them down. I just wish it would go away. I try using radical acceptance and mindfulness to no avail. really, my feelings toward his are like a disease.

        • Falstaff says:

You’ve given him way too much power over you.

        • lyn says:

I can’t stand him either, and I’ve never listened to his speeches.

I have acquired the habit of leaving the sound turned all the way down on the TV if I leave it on , so I am not surprised by the sound of his voice . The pleasant by-product of that is not hearing loud ads , and now that almost all the news stations have the news bar at the bottom , I don’t miss much , even if I am sitting in front of the TV with the sound off , and I can listen to music 🙂
I can’t stand those bumper stickers either . I have to talk myself out of using spray paint on them lol

With the sound turned down all the way his telecast speeches take on an eerie SNL quality. If only.

Editor’s note: Timing of the Michael Brown grand jury decision is still unclear, but several news organizations, including CNN and NBC, have now cited unnamed law enforcement sources pointing to the jury meeting, and potentially coming to a decision, early next week. NBC’s sources say public safety units have scaled back their alert status for today. We will continue to monitor a variety of reports, from major organizations and local media to reputable on-the-ground sources. – Aaron

This is looking worse and worse for Bill Cosby. It reminds me of the Tiger Woods descent. The women stepping forward are more credible now. Of course, it’s only legit in a court of law, but it’s very sad.

Is that Jennifer Lawrence singing? Did you see “Winter’s Bone”? She was amazing in that movie. When I saw it, it was clear to me she was destined to be a really big star. What an actor.

“LANCASHIRE Constabulary has joined forces with the ground-breaking national anti-knife crime campaign ‘Save a Life, Surrender Your Knife’, as the force’s knife amnesty comes to an end.

Since the amnesty began at the end of August, more than 800 knives have been handed in across the county – including swords, machetes and commando knives. The amnesty was extended for a further week owing to its success.”

Wow…..I don’t watch Bill Maher, but I’m reading that on his latest show, he said Gruber was right: Americans ARE stupid. And Chris Matthews agreed with him.

    Good grief.

Israel reconsiders military action against Iran.

considering the anti- Israel attitude shown by the backtrack bunch, they could make a deal with Iran that would push Israel into a war

What Obama’s doing probably best reveals how important a free and impartial media is to democracy. Right now, we have a media that is almost totally in Obama’s camp and about 100% of the leadership of those news divisions are his supporters. Practically the first thing Obama did as president was bash Fox News and attack Rush Limbaugh. Then he spied on James Rosen and eventually found a way to make Limbaugh controversial again.

All of Obama’s power comes from money. That money comes almost entirely from us. This is what the 47% is about. If Mitt Romney gave a speech with this kind of detail during the campaign after his “gaffe” was revealed, maybe some people would have gotten off their asses and voted for him.
