Peace on Earth and Goodwill Towards Men

“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and goodwill towards men.” – Luke 2:8-14

I was gonna write about what happened yesterday. I had pictures downloaded and ready to go. I had some news articles and other stuff bookmarked to quote from and link to. I had things I wanted to say.

Then I sat down at my keyboard and thought about where to start. That’s when I remembered it’s only a few days until Christmas.

Suddenly, I didn’t want to talk about yesterday anymore.

So I thought I would post some soothing Christmas carols instead.

You don’t have to be Christian or even religious to enjoy religious music.

This song actually has a staggering number of covers for only being 30 years old.

Crud asked me what my favorite Christmas song was two minutes ago. I wanted to say I hate them all but that would be untrue. I love Little Drummer Boy and the David Bowie/Bing Crosby makes my cold heart melt.
It is actually a medley of Peace on Earth and the Little Drummer Boy.

I thought Susan Boyle was a one tick pony. I thought old sweet lady never going to get anywhere. have Maria is so solemn. Lady can carry a tune. Even after that I was no fan but then she covered Lou Reeds Perfect Day. Of all the ditties to cover she went with punk rock and to add to it she chose one of the most distinctive songs ever made. I was jogging when it came on my iPod. Had to stop and lean against the wall. Suzanne or Lou it is a beyond sweet song.

I love “Feliz Navidad” Don’t ask me why, but I love it. It brings a smile to my tired old face every time I hear it. The Christmas card I sent to my family said “Joyeux Noel means” on the front and “Feliz Navidad” inside. (we are Polish, German, Russian, Irish, Swedish, etc) 😉

My mom was the smartest, most erudite person I’ve ever known. She was cultured and educated (mostly in public schools) and funny and compassionate. She was also a devout Catholic yet liberal enough to marry my Jewish father. 😉 (She died a few years ago at 98.) Her love of the classics (books, art and music) was well known. Besides “O Holy Night”, one of her favorite Christmas songs was:

I saw this movie for the first time the other day on tv. It sucked me in right away and couldn’t keep my eyes off it even though it creeped the bejesus out of me. Jim Carrey played several parts and was amazing second only to the special effects.

I was at best buy yesterday getting a gift for my son and saw this in the reduced ($4.99) bin. I by-passed it. Maybe I should go back and get it. It looks good… Thanks, Denise.

I got my Christmas present yesterday. My husband is a very bright man. A doctor diagnosed him two years ago as being in the early stages of dementia. It devastated him and all of us. Since then he’s been sinking into a depression. But not showing any signs of losing his memory in any way. He has been losing some of his stability while when he walks, though. In a fit of anger I demanded he get a second opinion. Well, we’ve been spending the last few weeks with a new doctor and batteries of tests. His IQ is still well above average, and there is absolutely no sign of dementia. There is some sign he has some nerve damage in his lower legs, but the new neurologist is on it. Yesterday the medical supply house delivered a spiffy new cane, and the two of us walked downtown, went out to lunch, and went Christmas shopping. He smiled, and laughed, and was close to his old self. Flirting with the waitress and looking for “tuck-ins” for the kids. If I can enter the new year with the cloud of depression lifting over this house, I don’t care what’s under my tree. Or who lives in the White House.

Voter’s I get some videos on kindle others are blank space.
I was just talking to my mother and she was crying about my sister in law being a snob. I said mom we be trash does not matter. How many people invest in a kid and her future. How many great grandparents divest all savings so a little girl is not abused. Yes Bellavthe demon dog ate the base of all the furniture. Dog is from helll but she is mine. Returned to the pound many times. When I come home she gets so excited she hurts herself. I would have no use for a good dog. Works for some not for me. I swear I yell Bella a hundred times a day. Nothing can be done. My sister in law sees life as slots Fine that is her I am more of the let it roll. She spent eight thousand on counter tops I chop garlic anywhere I can find space. I do not care about stuff. Sure as shit I do not let it dictate my life. my mom crying because the dog ate the furniture is stupid. Sharon quit school in tenth grade to make a ton of babies.she went to community college to become a nurse Somebody had to feed all those babies. She even had a gay son(me) took a two year degree to a six figure job. Never piss off my mom. She fought like hell to protect my little girl. You ain’t seen nothing til you have seen Sharon march into a court room. Double doggy dare you to get between her and someone she loves. Woman never buys herself shoes but when baby girl was on the line she thundered into the court room in a Chanel pantsuit. I looked at her with WTF plastered on my face and she said I am not playing. Same woman feels bad because my sister in law does not approve. Huh I said bat shit lady that gave birth to me grow up look at your great grand child. See how happy she is. Life is unfair we seldom have a choice but we do with this little girl. Count your blessings

My parents are the best. Saturday’s my oxygen carrying dad and my mother drive to hell so my nephew can see his daughter in a court appointed venue. They then drive downtown and take her to acting school. They sit and wait for three hours. I would say they are triumphant but they are simply my parents. Most solid people I know who cares about furniture.
