“Most of the patrons of Ford’s Theater were peaceful”

Noah Rothman at Hot Air:

According to a CNN reporter who was on the scene in Brooklyn on Monday at a memorial honoring the fallen officers, a group of protesters stormed the commemorative service and began screaming at the attending officers (h/t The Blaze).

While reporting on this episode, Sara Ganim made an effort to insist that the vast majority of those who attended this memorial were supportive of the NYPD. Her efforts could not have been more thoroughly undermined, however, by the sounds of angry protesters whom she had to speak over in order to be heard.

“I do, just in full disclosure, want to say that in the last couple of minutes, for the first time today, we’ve seen protesters come out here and start yelling at groups of police who are mourning their slain police officers,” Ganim ultimately conceded.

“What do those protesters want?” CNN anchor Suzanne Malveaux asked. “What do they say?”

“It’s just a few of them, Suzanne,” Ganim replied. “Like I said, just in the last five minutes, and they’re quite frankly yelling at a group of police officers who are standing here silently, just looking at the memorial of candles and flowers and posters. And they’re yelling similar rhetoric that we’ve been hearing over the last couple of weeks related to the shooting of — the chokehold death of Eric Garner and the shooting of Michael Brown in Missouri.”

“So it’s very, you know, sentiments that we’ve been hearing,” she added.

Just a few, huh?

I’m sure that most of the patrons of Ford’s Theater were peaceful on that fateful April night in 1865. But that one guy who wasn’t did something bad. I bet most of the residents of Sarajevo were peaceful that June day in 1914 too, but Gavrilo Princip and his friends had other ideas.

On the other hand, if there is one crazy loon at a Tea Party rally with 100,000 people, CNN will put that loon on camera and try to convince people the whole group was like that.

It’s not that the media is biased that bothers me, it’s that they are so inconsistent.

I gotta go do some shopping. Later tater!

Al and the people screaming at memorial mourners need to learn from this woman.

I love that the reporter kept saying they were yelling typical things “that we’ve been hearing all week”, but could not bring herself to quote what the protesters were actually saying. Her discomfort was palpable – OMG, I cannot tell the public what these savages are actually saying, that might be rayciss!

But yeah, there’s no media push to carefully avoid painting these assholes in any negative light.

    • The Klown says:

It’s the same thing as with OWS. RD kept trying to say that Fox News was distorting the truth but I wasn’t watching Fox News. I was reading what she said, and watching their own livestreams.

      • The Klown says:

A lot of the pictures and videos that were picked up by the conservative media were from OWS supporters.

      • WMCB says:

I haven’t watched much network footage of any of the protests over the last 6 years, including the recent ones. I’ve watched livestreams and excerpts thereof. And as you said, mostly livestreams/youtubes of the protesters themselves.

No one has to paint them as assholes. They paint themselves. Gleefully.

        • The Klown says:

One of the reasons I support bodycams on cops is that video doesn’t lie. It doesn’t always reveal the truth, but it never lies.

          • WMCB says:

Yes. People will still argue and interpret, but at least it cuts down on just “make shit up out of whole cloth.”

        • Underwhelmed says:

And have no idea it’s what they’re doing. They have no mirror that will show them who and what they really are.

  3. The Klown says:

I think it is very revealing that many of these protesters cover their faces. I don’t remember that trick being used in the Sixties.

The media bias and inconsistency bother me. I won’t waste my time reading their BS.

I’m going over to the bad side of town to find me some authentic tamales.

  6. WMCB says:

The way they are being allowed to treat the cops is shameful. No, that is not “peaceful protest.”

Sharpton’s holding a rally this Saturday. Despicable man.

  8. 49erDweet says:

It’s sorta like they are trying to prime the officers to over react next time they’re in an on duty kerfunkle.

  9. 49erDweet says:

Their beyond-the-pale behavior today also ends any chance regular citizens would side with them. They are done, as a movement, but like the snakes tail haven’t read the message yet.

My daughter works in NYC–and I am sick of this crap. She rides the Path train in everyday from NJ and it’s often dark before she gets hone….well, now with winter especially. I find it hard to believe Obama’s poll numbers have gone up 4 points in the CNN poll today. What is wrong with people or are we on the fringe?

  12. HELENK3 says:

my grand daughter let the kids open the package containing the voice changing megaphones. The little one is not too sure about them yet. The older boy and his dad are having a ball with them.
Why do I keep thinking that they will be brought out at the New Years Eve Party?

I guess this, uhm, lady, is airing her grievances ?

    • DandyTIger says:

Didn’t anyone teach her manners? I think she wants to bite his chin; I hope he made it out without bite marks. Come to think of it, she could have rabies.

Also, legally, I think that’s assault. She’s pushing on him, with contact, and it appears she’s threatening to bite him. But the tension and surrounding issues probably meant it’s better to let that one slide. For now.

    • Constance says:

What is wrong with that idiot bitch? I find these protesters creepy and I am getting more and more disgusted with them and what ever point they are trying to make as they continue on. But since it’s a mixed race crowd I’m not feeling any racial aversion but just an aversion to liberals. They are dumber than dirt and obnoxious and repulsive.

Americans will put up with crazy for only so long. The line has been crossed.
