The only thing sillier than Obama wearing a tiara is someone getting upset about it.

Paula Bolyard at Pajamas Media:

Asked by MSNBC’s Kristen Welker why he included a photo of President Obama donning tiara in a his collection of “2014: A Year in Photos,“ White House photographer Pete Souza said, “I thought it showed a very human side of him. He has a lot of fun with babies and young kids and I think he just got caught up in the moment that if they are wearing their tiaras, he is going to wear one too. I asked him to do it and he went along.”

“Was there a lot of urging?” Welker asked. “Can you take us behind the scenes?”

“Not much urging at all,” said Souza. “I think he said something like this picture is just for us.”

According to Tulsa World, an 8-year old Brownie named Miriam was the one who asked the president to put on the tiara during a brief meeting with her scout troop in May.

“I was like, ‘I have a tiara for you. Do you want to put it on?’” Miriam said she asked the president.

“He said, ‘No, thank you. I’ll give it to my girls,’ ” she recalled.

“Once the press left the room, he said, ‘Don’t tell anyone, but I’ll put on the tiara,’ ” Miriam said.

Apparently some people are bothered by this story. I’m not one of them. There is a long list of things to criticize Obama for, but this is just silly. Some people think he needs to project strength but at this point in his presidency I doubt another picture would change anyone’s opinion of him one iota.

      from this article:

Last week saw the rise and fall of Ben Trovato’s hit job on Congressman Steve Scalise, who was accused of speaking 12 years ago to a group affiliated with David Duke. When sandbagged by the charge — leveled by the son of a former opponent whom he’d trounced — Scalise said he remembered speaking to a lot of civic groups in the period about fiscal matters and indicated if one of those groups was involved, he was sorry. No one even charged that he was a racist– even Democrats in his home state denied that, as a matter of fact. No one even charged that he’d endorsed Duke’s racist remarks nor challenged his assertion that his speech was on fiscal matters involving the state.

Only this morning on FTN, Bob Schieffer asked Newt Gingrich about Steve Scalise and charges of racism. Again, Gingrich referred to comments from congress people (even democrats) that denied any racist traits in Scalise and asked how a speech given by Scalise 12 years ago is an issue when Obama’s (20 year) relationships with Jeremiah Wright, or with Sharpton now, etc were never explored.( I barely pay attention to these show. It was on tv while I was doing other things.) I can barely tolerate Gingrich, but that was refreshing to hear.

The tiara was cute and will probably be the photo that’s used in history books for years to come.

I hope he kept it so he can wear it to dinner parties with European royalty and “intellectuals” after his term is over. He will look nice at tea at the Savoy. I honestly think they are going to have big money problems when he is out of office. Just a hunch.

      • DeniseVB says:

Yep. They don’t seem to notice that their Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous is heavily subsidized by the American taxpayer. The Obamas remind me of those folks who win the lottery, buy lots of expensive shiny stuff then out of money in a couple of years. It’s going to be a culture shock when they leave the Barackingham Palace.

Before BO was elected to any office, they lived in Chicago off lines of credit.

        • Lulu says:

They will be subsidized by some rich Dems but I think it will get old fast and not be as much as they thought it would be. They have not made rich connected close friends like the Clintons. Old man Bush and Big Dog made money making international speeches because they knew what they were talking about. Obama will not find this applies to him. Michelle has no future in anything. Bad behavior has consequences.

          • piper says:

Speeches what a laugh as the only kind he can made is with a prepared speech written by someone other than himself on a tele-prompter. Heaven help him if the tele-prompter misfires. Maybe they can sell pictures of Michelle modeling the latest faddish outfits.

          • leslie says:

Perhaps they think Jay Z and Beyoncé are going to subsidize the lifestyle they now enjoy. And maybe that will happen. But that is still limiting and probably reflect badly on bronco and his mare. Oh, it may help Sasha or Malia get into “the business”, but hardly anything more. Can you see a Obama Global Consortium? Can you see anyone asking for bronco’s help? Neither can I.

    Fuck your trauma.

Yes, fuck your trauma. My sympathy for your suffering, whether that suffering was real or imaginary, ended when you demanded I change my life to avoid bringing up your bad memories. You don’t seem to have figured this out, but there is no “I must never be reminded of a negative experience” expectation in any culture anywhere on earth.

If your psyche is so fragile you fall apart when someone inadvertently reminds you of “trauma”, especially if that trauma consisted of you overreacting to a self-interpreted racial slur, you need therapy. You belong on a psychiatrist’s couch, not in college dictating what the rest of society can’t do, say or think. Get your own head right before you start trying to run other people’s lives. If you expect everyone around you to cater to your neurosis, forever, you’re what I’d call a “failure at life”. And you’re doomed to perpetual disappointment.

You gotta read the whole thing.

    • DeniseVB says:

Good read ! I especially liked this from the comments:

Chris, you may remember me posting from time to time about how “I’m a liberal with reservations,” you know, I’m a liberal but I believe in gun rights, I’m a liberal but I don’t believe in that insane bullshit, etc.

I’m done with that. I’m done with that label. I don’t know what the Hell to call myself now but I don’t want to associate myself with that crowd anymore. It’s embarrassing.

      • Lulu says:

If you take the perennially outraged and butthurt and offended, and boil it down to the most basic element, they are lazy. Why can’t they deal with anything? It takes effort, maturity, thought, work, etc to overcome problems both internally and externally. They don’t want to do jack shit about anything that requires effort by THEM. They want someone else to do it. It is much easier to bitch and whine than DO something that requires effort or thought. Selfies for Ebola! Twitter for Butthurt. No final law school exams for racism! Lazy with a big dose of stupid and the stupid follows lazy people often enough who can’t be bothered to know anything.

    • HELENK3 says:

that was a very article. also the best advice anyone will ever give. It is called life, deal with it.

Does that mean I have to get out of the basement and shovel the long, long driveway before I can go somewhere. BTW where’s the magic genie to help start or fix that darn contraption called a snow blower.

        • DeniseVB says:

Funny story about snow blowers. When my friend moved to a nice rural home near Annapolis, they paid thousands to have their very long “driveway” through the hilly woods to the main road made of loose river rock gravel. Then her city boy hubby bought a new toy, a snow blower for winter. First snow of the season, he managed to blow most of that gravel into the woods. It always cracks me up to think about that 😀

I wrote a blog post last night about this need for some to be protected from everything. I compared it to the warnings on appliances, like the hair dryers that warn “Do not use while sleeping.”

    • leslie says:

Yes. Read the whole thing. Thanks, Klown. I’d never read that blog before. I intend to return. He’s a smart man as are the people who comment. I loved the response by Sarah at #54.

I didn’t know that strip clubs ask for party affiliation before admission. That sounds like made up shit. Where is the proof? I do know that wholesale steak orders go way up for restaurants for Repub shindigs as opposed to Dem.

      • 1539days says:

There was a survey that said Republicans had better sex than Democrats. Turns out that a higher percentage of men are Republicans and a higher percentage of women are Democrats, which skews the results.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the “Republicans” making it rain at the club aren’t rich libertarians, who have no shame about spending money at strip clubs.

As usual much to read for later – thank you. Taking my silly self out to play in the snow trying out new toy which looks like a snow shovel then off to the gym for a session with my personal trainer. Yes I’m treating myself because I need to increase overall strength and flexibility, and lose a few or more pounds.
