The King Is Dead! Long Live The King!

Associated Press:

Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah bin Adbul Aziz died early Friday, setting the stage for a transition of power at a critical moment as the key U.S. ally in the Middle East struggles with falling oil prices and rising Islamist violence.

The monarch, believed to be 90, was succeeded by his brother, Crown Prince Salman, according to state television. That put the region’s most important Sunni power and America’s closest Arab ally in the hands of a 79-year-old who is reportedly in poor health and suffering from dementia.

I’m not even gonna pretend I have a handle on what all this means or what is gonna happen next. I just wish Abdullah had hung in there for a couple more years until Obama and Kerry were out of office.

I got a bad feeling about this.

John Kerry gives a similar recommendation of Joe Biden, so don’t bet the farm on anything of value.

    What could possibly go wrong?

  3. Lulu says:

The next in line to Abdullah has dementia so that should work out well. He can be Kerry’s new bestie since they have so much in common.

Meanwhile, the Joker is still at it:

President Obama said Thursday that he wants to improve training of police in minority communities so that officers can “be aware of their biases ahead of time.”

The comment came during an interview at the White House, when YouTube celebrity GloZell Green, who is black, asked Mr. Obama what can be done to prevent violence by white police officers against black males such as incidents last year in Ferguson, Missouri, and New York City.

She told Mr. Obama that she has cut the hoods off of her husband’s “hoodie” sweatshirts because she’s afraid “the po-po” [police] will shoot him when he goes outdoors.

    “I understand,” the president said.

Mr. Obama said that while “the overwhelming majority” of police officers are doing a difficult job well, problems remain.

“There’s still biases in our society that, in split-second situations, where people have to make quick decisions … studies have shown that African-American males are seen as more threatening, which puts them in more vulnerable positions,” Mr. Obama said. “Young African-American males are typically seen as older than they are. And so a lot of the way to solve this is to improve training so people can be aware of their biases ahead of time.”

Stuck at home this morning waiting for the Sears guy to come and bleed me dry some more pretending he’s gonna to “fix” the unfixable. Don’t ever buy a bottom freezer with an “ice maker”. They don’t really make ice cubes. They make solid sheets of ice all over the freezer contents. My honey loves the configuration so I’m stuck with it. If only they still delivered ice to homes ala the 1940’s, it’d be cool. Alas.

    • leslie says:

Because there are no more ice delivery men, I buy bags of ice cubes. It is one of my few extravagances. My family makes fun of me about this, but I figure I can spend that $1.59 however I want to and I have ice when I need it. 😉

I’m out of the loop on your freezer issues 49er. I’ve been out of town all week…..I might add, damn I missed a lot of news, but tuning the world out is sometimes nice.

On to your freezer 49er. We have a bottom freezer, French door Samsung. We had issues and we had one repair person after another that didn’t know jack crap other than to charge us an arm and a leg and replace stuff that didn’t need to be replaced. Finally we ended up with a guy that knew his stuff. It was a defrost problem, I’ll ask hubby exactly what it was…..I just know it had to do with the defrost. Also, early on we found out that there are rods that hold the freezer in place as it rolls and those quite often get broken so check your model and see if maybe that is the problem. If I’m way off base, then forgive me…….I just got home and came here to see what was going on, saw your comment and thought maybe it was a similar issue to ours.

Under sharia law women are not persons, they are property. For the (male) head of household to do with whatever he wishes. They may have “reforms” but that hasn’t changed. And don’t throw rocks at me. Not my idea.
      That tiny snag makes it even more puzzling why some western women fall for eastern types. Once wed, they lose ALL rights. {{facepalm}}

Subprime Scandal: We’ve long suspected the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission wasn’t honest in examining events before the meltdown. But an ex-commissioner says the probe was actually a full-blown political cover-up.
In a just-released book, former FCIC member Peter Wallison says that a Democratic Congress worked with the commission’s Democratic chairman to whitewash the government’s central role in the mortgage debacle. The conspiracy helped protect some of the Democrats’ biggest stars from scrutiny and accountability while helping justify the biggest government takeover of the financial sector since the New Deal.

do you wonder if the “advisers” that think these things up hate America or hate backtrack?

    • swanspirit says:

I think they are delusional idiots, and one of them is backtrack. They thought this would be a good thing. I wonder if Obama, Michelle, or any of the other idiots that arranged for the POTUS to be interviewed by Glozilla, or whatever her name is, gave any thought to the White House children, or any other children for that matter. What sublime examples these you-tube people set for young people, NOT!!

So, I’ve been out of town this week and haven’t kept up with any news. Could someone explain the fruit loop lady and why the hell POTUS would make time to meet with her??? Surely there was a golf course somewhere he could have gone to instead.
