Love or Hate the Academy Awards, it is the Super Bowl for some of us. That is, those of us who didn’t see “all the games” but we have a favorite movie or actor to root for. Some of us just tune in to see the opening, and this year, Neil Patrick Harris is a must see host. Then is gets really boring if you don’t have a dog in the fight.

Thank you jeebus, all our snow melted today after a week of grinding my wussified part of the country to a halt. All it took was 4-freaking-inches and days of hard freezes. Our neighbors on each side of us had burst pipes and 2k+ of emergency plumbing services to repair and get their water back on.

We high-fived our obnoxious selves for dripping faucets and keeping the heat on tropical settings of 68+, then a silly kid in a VW Golf slammed on his brakes for the patch of ice in front of our house, and took out our brick mailbox. Maybe 2k+ afterall. Coulda’ been worse, had he hit our house?

Going to go after him for it?

      • DeniseVB says:

Already did. It was a learning experience for him, we called the police, thank goodness Officer Friendly showed up and explained to him why. Driver’s mom showed up too. We explained to her why we called the police, our homeowners insurance requires a police report. NEVER did they offer to pay us to have the stupid mailbox repaired and NOT report to their/our insursance. We found out their insurance company was called Elephant Insurance, we panicked. Then reported them to our insurance. I hate snow.

I’d rather have to spend money on a brick mailbox than deal with water problems any day. Good call on water dripping, etc.

Watching the “pre-game” show, the 20-yr tribute to Joan Rivers on the Red Carpet made me weepy. No way Kathy Griffin can replace her.

I love the Oscars, never miss a year.

    ❤ the fashions 🙂

    • DeniseVB says:

I heard they got rid of the “mani-cam” this year, thank goodness, so annoying watching celebs walk their blinged out fingers in front of a mini-cam.

  7. DeniseVB says:

Awkward interview between Ryan Secreast and Dakota Johnson. She’s not the sharpest knife in the Tippi Hendren/Melanie Griffith DNA drawer. Fer shure.

  8. HELENK3 says:

I have my trusty Roku at the ready and will not watch the oscars

  9. trixta says:

Oscar contenders should know by now that the list-o’-names speeches are SOOOO F#$%king BORING! None of those names ever mean anything to me. I wish they’d say something meaningful instead. Don’t think I’ll watch this year, but hope you all enjoy it. I look forward to the fashion “reviews” though.

  10. DeniseVB says:

Still about 30 minutes away from the main event, I’m fading since I get up about 5 am-ish. Back to you myiq ? (sorry, did I step on your shoes again?😉 )

  11. votermom says:

We have the tv on ABC. Michael Keaton seemed jittery – high, like Jesse Pinkman on meth.

  12. swanspirit says:

If they are going to do “whiteness” jokes all night, I might have to forget the fashions…
