“I’m a Republican and a Christian.”

The mind boggles.

Maybe, just maybe, although I am not holding out a lot of hope for this change, people, especially the media (and the media are corporations, not people, all of them) will stop making everything so political. Let people believe in what they want…not what you always want. I bet if someone did a really honest survey, they’d find that every American is conservative on some issues, liberal on others and moderate on a bunch. Who represents that person??? I hate these kind of so-called “interviews”…they’re just set-ups,, not interviews. When I was a young athlete, I wanted to be a decathlete, just like Bruce Jenner. Now, I don’t want to be like Bruce Jenner. so what?!

  2. leslie says:

honest to goodness, I don’t care AT ALL. what he does or does not do. When I awoke this morning and heard the story, the first thought I had was, “I hope he’s happy, but I doubt this is going to make the difference for him.”
I think I’m parroting Denise when I say that the happiness he is looking for isn’t going to come from cutting off his penis. . . I worked with a pt once who did that. He wasn’t happy – not before and definitely not afterward. (I didn’t actually know him before – but people don’t self injure or self destruct because they’re happy.)
    Have a happy Saturday, all……

Same here – just another attention wh*****r, languishing in the throes of his daughters spotlight.

    • angienc says:

It’s sadly true that the suicide rate in trans is very high.
I don’t care if anyone elects to undergo a sex change & I do hope Bruce is happy, but I am convinced it is highly likely that most “trans” are trying to run away from themselves — and no operation short of a lobotomy is going to help with that.

      • mothy67 says:

        From Gay Patriot about Bruce
“After he’s castrated, he’ll fit right in with John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, and all the rest of them”

        • 49erDweet says:

There’s about two dozen of ’em wearing britches that probably couldn’t pass a Y chromosome test, that’s fer sure. Gutless political hacks! But I repeat myself.

        • leslie says:

Seriously, Mitch McConnell is the spitting image of a girlfriend’s late mother. They look as if they’d been separated at birth – just barely. Every time I see McConnell, It think “Mary Lou”. (of course I’ve never mentioned it to my friend, because . . . . #Obot)

      • simofish says:

Cher said “I hope Chas is happy now, but I doubt it” (I might be paraphrasing)

    • DeniseVB says:

Brucella’s going to keep his pee-pee because he’s still attracted to women and plans on continuing to “date” women. He said he wants to make absolutely sure before he has the plumbing work done.

  3. DeniseVB says:

Seems conservatives are much more accepting of Bruce’s change than liberals are of his coming out as a conservative πŸ™‚

  4. DeniseVB says:

More tolerance. Broadway Cares raises funds for the aids cure and support since about half the broadway chorus lines were wiped out during the height of the epidemic years ago. Many of the theaters pass a bucket for audiences to donate also, which includes dirty “conservative” money I’m sure. So this is what happened when Ted Cruz visited a gay couple who own one of the venues they hold fundraisers in…….

    • 1539days says:

The important point about this is not that the liberals hate Republicans or that they think Republicans hate gays. This is about the conscious effort to make sure that gays are not allowed to accept Republicans, not vice-versa. If enough gays are self-identified as Republicans, Democrats won’t be able to market themselves to rich gays as the only alternative.

      • DeniseVB says:

During my “transition” from liberal to conservative I learned along the way, libs(vile prog wing anyhow) will hate you then shun you. The cons will hug and welcome you.

I remember the DU Lounge would often have a post “Eww, Would you date a Republican, eww?” I loved responding with, hell, I married one. Oh the eww, eww, eww’s I got. LOL ! Then I’d hit back, well, he was the first guy I dated that had a steady income and a career plan.

        • Jadzia says:

Which is why I always preferred to date conservative guys, even when I was much more liberal. Men who agreed with me politically tended to be adultolescents in every other area of life. Which is NOT SEXY.

  5. Jeffhas says:

I find it far more fascinating that everyone is supposed to be tolerant of Jenner (Ms, Mr, Whatever), but no one is expected to be tolerant of Republicans.

You’re supposed to be supportive, understanding and gentle in your response to Bruce’s (or anyone else’s) being Transgender…. But it’s perfectly acceptable to Ridicule, Mock, and yell hate-filled obscenities if you are a right wing Republican.

Almost everyone I know on the right could seriously not give a damn about Bruce being Transgender…. Or for that matter that people who are left wing are liberal!! – But boy-oh-boy everyone on the left sure cares about who’s a Teapartier!

    • 49erDweet says:

It’s silent confirmation that transgenderism is a mental disorder but choosing to be conservative is a rational, sane decision. Which ALSO means choosing to be progressive is irrational and insane, but that’s not important.

Ethnic Minorities Deserve Safe Spaces Without White People

What a novel idea! They could have their own separate (but equal) stores, restaurants, drinking fountains, bathrooms, schools, hospitals and neighborhoods! Why didn’t anyone think of this before?

I bet the same thing would work for gays and women too.

    And Jews.

  13. Myiq2xu says:

Yesterday I washed my car. Last night was one of the two days each week I am allowed to water my lawn, so I took the time and trouble to do do so. I woke up this morning to find it was pouring rain.

  14. elliesmom says:

Instead of watching Bruce Jenner last night, I watched Bret Baier’s show on the Clinton Foundation. Just a “follow the money” piece. No conclusions about the legality of the things they did. A lot about the disaster relief efforts in Haiti. Who donated money and who benefitted. HInt: It wasn’t the Haitians so much. Definitely left an “appearance of impropriety” taste in my mouth. I’m looking forward to a lot of comments about the “lies from Faux News” from people who didn’t watch it.

This morning I heard Malik Shabazz (or some other racialist hustling name) saying he was going to “shut down the city with MY people” today. It doesn’t look like all that many of his people actually showed up.
One of the AA commentators in Chicago was on PBS last night complaining that “Chicago has no black leaders”. She actually suggested that Jesse Jackson, Danny Davis, Bobby Rush and others are benefitting too much from with the status quo and there’s erally nothing in it for them to make noise in Chicago. I nearly fell off my little perch in the kitchen upon hearing this. *No one* and I do mean no one, in this town talks about those men that way. I expect her to lose whatever security details she now has after this.

  21. mothy67 says:

The mind of a proggie is confounding. They believe what they want to believe.
Last week several members of the cast from a play about the events in Ferguson quit the show because they disagreed with the take. Entire script was taken from grand jury.
They didn’t like the truth and became high and mighty about it.
Yesterday Lena Dunham was honored by Variety for her courage in surviving a made up rape.
I realize a fabricated rape can be traumatizing but jeesh to celebrate a woman’s lies that negatively effected another person.
Ben Affleck pretend family history is rivaled only by fauxahontas and that woman who claimed she was Anastasia.
Lies are okay if they fit the agenda.

    • Lulu says:

Or if they can be used by PR flacks to re-energize a flagging career. Mattress Girl is guided by her father’s PR/marketing flacks. He is a psychiatrist to corporate executives (NYT has articles in the past decade or so on his approach to marketing and how to find your niche in medicine) and how and why to get yourself in the media. The federal lawsuit is a direct refutation to her marketing efforts as a performance artist diva and Columbia getting sucked into it and enabling it. Media in this country is marketing. And it is free if you can penetrate their rather horse fly-like attention span.
