The Senate is getting ready to “reform” NSA domestic spying. It’s actually a bipartisan affair and there are new polls out showing that We The People want our government to spy on us because TERRORISM!
The news networks aren’t covering it, and good luck finding any print media coverage that talks about the content of the bill being voted on. Most of the coverage out there covers the political aspects such as Rand Paul vs. John McCain. As I have said before, this is all kabuki theater. The fix is in and we aren’t getting any of our freedom back.
When I first discovered the blogosphere back in 2005-2006 there was a lot of passionate discussion of the Patriot Act and NSA domestic spying on left wing blogs like Balloon Juice. Back then they were against it.
Back in 2008 the FISA revision was a big deal. Hillary and Obama both said they opposed any revision that included retroactive immunity for the telecoms. Then Harry Reid pushed it thru on short notice and Obama flip-flopped and voted for it. (Hillary voted again st it.)
Were his supporters outraged? Not hardly.
Now that Obama is in office the Vile Progs are much more comfortable with domestic spying and the loss of our privacy. That’s why all the revelations by Eric Snowden went nowhere.
As of right now the NSA reform bill has just passed 67 to 32.
