Another Open Thread: #BLM Roundup Edition

Police released a store video they received from a business allegedly of Tyrone Harris, Jr. and the altercation that precipitated his shooting by police on Sunday night. The alleged assailant appears to be holding a gun in the video.

As you watch the video, check out the group emerging on the left of the screen, behind the white pick up truck. They are clearly engaged in a fight of some kind. As the crowd moves to the center of the screen, something happens and everybody in the video takes cover, but this group scatters like a school of fish confronted by a shark. The man in the white t-shirt is looking all around, and when he turns to run, there is what appears to be a gun in his hand, and he appears to be holding it movie-style.

In other news, STL journalist Paul Hampel was jumped, mugged, and “beat down” on Sunday. He spent the next several hours in the hospital being observed after sustaining a concussion.

He did manage to grab this video of the crowd before he was attacked:

If you look closely near the end, you will see the boy in the red shirt that the NYT featured on their front page, and which DeniseVB posted in the previous open thread. He appears to be there with other children and a caregiver, who looks like she’s under the influence of something.

In an interesting article on The Daily Beast of all places, there was an article about Anger outrunning facts in #Ferguson. Deray appears in the article:

So McKesson and Black Lives Matter got the independent investigation they wanted, just not the conclusion they sought. (McKesson insisted the report only cleared Wilson of violating Brown’s civil rights.) For the movement, Wilson will never be justified in killing Brown. Furthermore, McKesson said he did not believe that any of the police shootings “that have gained national attention this year” were justified.

As for the one Sunday night, in which 18-year-old Tyrone Harris Jr. was shot after allegedly firing on police, McKesson demurred.

“I’ll say that I still have more questions than answers,” he told The Daily Beast.

I think some sympathetic white people must be getting tired of disbelieving their own lying eyes.

In campaign news, A Boston affiliated chapter of #BLM that is run by a woman who has been training as an activist since she was 13 (ouch! that’s gonna leave a mark) attempted to disrupt a Hillary Clinton event in New Hampshire. They failed. To be fair, they tipped off their Friends of Bernie first, so oops.

In conclusion, the Oath Keepers showed up in Ferguson again. NBC News called them, vaguely, A Controversial Rightwing ‘Patriot’ Group.

It remains to be seen if the violence in #Ferguson will be quelled. Sundown is still two hours away. Tune to Twitter to see if there’s another episode of #RiotPorn tonight.

The saddest part of all this, our “Media” is so stupid, or lazy, or both. Has anyone seen a remote from these sites asking “hey, why are you here, where are you from and who’s paying you?” Me neither.

  4. The Blaze reporting that the FBI has “taken possession” of the thumb drives from Clinton attorney.

    • leslie says:

Whatever happened to the “gonna destroy emails” report the Blaze had last week?

      • That was one of the aides, though, right? The one who’s not married to Anthony Wiener. LOL

        • gram krakka says:

Cheryl Mills is the one who was going to destroy the emails.

Among other things, the Court recently ordered that records be preserved after a threat to destroy records:

Judicial Watch announced that at 7:33 pm ET on Friday, August 7, Judge Emmet Sullivan issued an order to the State Department explicitly instructing that all federal documents relating to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her aides Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills be preserved:

In view of [20] the Government’s status report, the Court hereby directs the Government to request that Mrs. Hillary Clinton, Ms. Huma Abedin, and Ms. Cheryl Mills i) not delete any federal documents, electronic or otherwise, in their possession or control, and ii) provide appropriate assurances to the Government that the above-named individuals will not delete any such documents. The Government shall inform the Court of the status of its compliance with this Order no later than August 12, 2015, including a copy of any assurances provided by Mrs. Clinton, Ms. Abedin and Ms. Mills that they will not delete any federal documents in their possession or control. Signed by Judge Emmet G. Sullivan on August 7, 2015.

The order was issued a little over an hour after Judicial Watch lawyers filed an urgent response Friday evening, informing Judge Sullivan of a plan to destroy federal records as reported by State to the court.

Last week’s State Department filing shows that the agency sent the former officials the request and a copy of Judge Sullivan’s order but that both Mills and Abedin, who responded through their attorneys, ignored Judge Sullivan’s request to submit information under penalty of perjury. The State Department reports that Mrs. Clinton has yet to respond. Contrary to both Judge Sullivan’s order and the State Department’s request, Ms. Mills’ attorney said that she told Ms. Mills to destroy federal records in her possession on Monday, August 10. Judicial Watch immediately filed its urgent response informing Judge Sullivan of this plan to destroy federal records.

State had been ordered on July 31 to request that Clinton and her top aids confirm, under penalty of perjury, that they have produced all government records in their possession and to return any other government records immediately. The Court wanted State to ascertain how Clinton, Abedin and Mills to describe their use of Hillary Clinton’s email server to conduct government business.

Contrary to both Judge Sullivan’s order and the State Department’s request, Mills’ attorney said that she told Mills to destroy federal records in her possession on Monday, August 10.

  6. Classy dame right here: Ferguson Protestor’s Medical Crisis at I-70 Shutdown Won’t Dampen Her Resolve

[Melissa] Ritchey was taken to the ambulance, but she emerged fifteen minutes later. She walked over and asked a nearby a legal observer for a cigarette.

“They’re not going to arrest me,” she said. “They don’t want to fuck with my head thing.”

Ritchey then asked me what had happened after she’d passed out. She said she had no memory of me catching her, Rose’s arrest or the officers’ demands for her information.

She took a hard drag on the cigarette.

“Fuck them motherfuckers,” she said to no one in particular, her voice shaking. “They think I’m going home? Motherfucker. Fuck you. I’m going to Ferguson. Fuck you.”

I was liking Walker but I am twice bitten once shy. Could he take on the media? NO JEB is how I feel if only The Donald can take him down I am fine. Really like Carly but imagine what they would do to her.Sarah Palin was subjected to hell. I respect how people here think but Iwant a fighter. Nice does not work Romney was a gem didn’twork. I want someone unafaid to say fuck you.64 year old woman raped and murdered. What does it take. What kind of a monster rapes a 64 year old. He could be next door. Not fear mongering blatent reality. Progs want you to think there is a child rapist around every corner. They feed on fear yet you are raysist if you question an illegal career criminal. I guess there is no point when Maria Harf says men behead babies because they need a job.

    • NewOrleans says:

Funny you mention Carly and Sarah Palin.

When Carly desperately needed help in her run for Barbara Boxer’s Senate seat in 2010, Sarah came to her rescue and endorsed her, instantly giving Fiorina support among conservatives who didn’t know much about her. Carly repaid the favor by refusing to appear with Palin during several stops in California. With friends like Carly . . .

Fiorina got crushed by Boxer by 10 points.

GOP Chairman Defends FOX News and Megyn Kelly – Approves Anti-Trump Moderator for Next Debate

It looks like the GOP elites are absolutely intent on running Trump out of the race so they can control “the process.” The Party now determines who should be eligible to run and who meets their approval.

    • NewOrleans says:

“It really doesn’t matter whether it’s fair or not.”

What a stunning statement coming from the head of a political party.

I think Trump should pull out of that debate and hold his own event instead. At the same time, on the same day. He can invite all of the other candidates to join him and have it moderated by someone without a clear agenda. If none of the other candidates accept the offer, have a town hall meeting with voters instead.

Wanna guess which event would get more viewers and more publicity?
