Bizarro World

We live in a bizarro world where everything is ass backwards. Ahmed’s Clock and what Donald Trump didn’t say are scandals, but Emailgate and Planned Parenthood are not. Cops are bad guys and thugs are heroes. A man wearing women’s clothing is a role model. Republicans control both houses of Congress but can’t stop the Democrats on any issue.

Donald Trump maintains a sizable lead in the race for the GOP nomination, while Scott Walker’s campaign is going code blue.

It’s a mad house.

… And Yeb! is only at 8%… He’s supposed to be leading! (Although it does appear the RNC has rigged the primaries… I mean Florida suddenly THIS ELECTION is winner take all?… Hmmmm….

    • Somebody says:

Florida republican primaries have always been winner take all. In fact until this cycle the republicans have always operated on winner take all basis. They changed the rules so that this election the early primaries are proportional by congressional district with some at large and what amounts to super delegates from each state.

Word is those changes were put in place to help Yeb and to slow momentum from early state victories of any other candidate. The way things are set up this time around is more about staying power and you need money for staying power. Yeb may not have a lot of support, but his campaign is well funded by deep pockets. All he has to do is hang on and collect delegates from any of the moderate candidates, plus his own, the super delegates and depending on the state perhaps some of the at large delegates. In fact some people are claiming the flooded field is part of a Yeb victory strategy supposedly designed by Rove. I have no idea if turd blossom designed such a strategy or not, but it may work out that way.

Those primary rules are so stupid. The party can pick whoever it wants. The GOPe could change the rules, say no primaries and just announce Jeb! at the convention. This is basically a dog and pony show where they provide the illusion of choice.

The Democrats are worse. They came up with super delegates early on to make sure primary votes can be vetoed.

I worked across the street from the Dakota(where Lennon was shot and lived). Very rich people live there. Some of the kids were a hot mess. 15 in and out of rehab. Dive bar called Malachy’s on West 72 nd had to play baby sitter. Served food so these punks would buy a homeless guy a meal to drink. Like a bad Law & Order rerun the kids got in trouble. Blamed a bar never lack of parenting. I was an event planner from 2002 to 2006 one kid was 16 living the high life. He is now doing 20 to life. Fatality during commission of a crime. His dad has a yacht he robs a convenience store. Mother blamed everyone else. Your kid was on smack for years. How do you not see that?
Bravo to Trump raising good spawn.

Let’s see if the media is going to beat up on Dr. Carson for his comment. His name’s not Trump so they will probably ignore it.

Carson: A Muslim should not be president

Republican presidential candidate and former pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson called the Muslim faith incompatible with the Constitution and said he would not support a Muslim for president of the United States.

It’s been all over Twitter this morning. People that I’ve read are not happy with Carson’s statement.

    • 1539days says:

He did say he’d support the right Muslim for Congress. My answer would be “if Obama’s not a Muslim and he’s THIS bad, I can’t imagine how bad a real Muslim would be.”

Andrea Marcotte is upset with Susan Brownmiller’s statements which I agree with concerning the new rape culture activism.
“Susan Brownmiller wrote the 1975 book Against Our Will: Men, Women, and Rape which set the stage for much of today’s feminism. She is not, however, a huge fan of everything espoused by today’s feminists, including slut walks and rape culture activism.”

    • leslie says:

I have several thoughts about this:
      1. Amanda Marcotte wouldn’t know what to do with herself if she weren’t taking exception with something someone said. THIS just gave her material for several weeks’ worth of essays and rants.
      2. They can “slut walk” and “take back the night” all they want, but if they continue to cry “rape” when someone micro aggresses against them, they’ll have a hard time living in the real world.
      3. Rape is a horrific, violent crime. If they want to dress in seductive or suggestive ways, drink like there is no tomorrow, and subsequently become victims of sexual assault, no one will take them seriously and they will receive little sympathy or support.
4.There are reports on the increase of rape and sexual assault resulting from the Muslim invasion in Germany. Parents are now being given the message to keep their daughters indoors in the afternoon/evenings and keep them dressed with modesty in order to NT arouse those Muslim men and to keep their daughters safe. Good luck to Ms Marcotte and her friends when that happens here as well.

Peter Hitchens reports on Ukraine Pres.Poroshenko, new ban – Anyone read or hear about this ban.

If Vladimir Putin had Done This, There’d Have Been More Fuss
The many gullible (or just crudely and ignorantly anti-Russia) journalists and politicians who sided with the Kiev putsch of February 2014 really ought to be more interested in the latest news from Ukraine.

The supposedly heroic new President of the supposedly free and uncorrupt and generally wonderful new Ukraine, the oligarch who doesn’t like being called an oligarch, Petro Poroshenko, has announced a ban on lots of journalists (and indeed other individuals).

These people are accused of promoting ‘terrorist activities’ ( a charge very similar to catch-all offences under the Blairite Terrorism Act which are still, shamefully on our own statute book) or of being a ‘threat to national interests’.

The decree is barmy and self-defeating, and in a way laughable. But can you imagine the enormous fuss that would be made if Vladimir Putin were to do the same? Compare, then, and contrast the minimal coverage it has received, because it issues from Ukraine.

Will the vast crowds be back on Kiev’s Maidan to protest against this? Will Victoria Nuland and Guido Westerwelle and John McCain and the rest of them be there with them, clutching bags of biscuits and smiling their support? Will all those civil society groups, dedicated to bringing freedom of speech and press to the borderlands, be outraged and working their little socks off to get the ban overturned, setting up the tents and soup-kitchens to house and feed the massing army of protest? Don’t be too sure.

I am reminded by this of the ridiculous claims made by apologists for the putsch that the Maidan was in fact an unstoppable movement for freedom and against corruption, rather than a manipulated mob helping to overthrow a government which had annoyed the ‘West’ . If this were really so, the crowds would have been almost perpetually back on the Maidan ever since. Somehow, they haven’t been. Nor will this shoddy action bring them there.

And so we know all we need to know about the ‘February Revolution’, its true nature and objectives.
