The Left Declares War On Prayer

Never go full retard. There is so much fail emanating from the Left yesterday I can’t even document it all. They were off and running with their favorite narrative and were test driving a new anti-prayer meme when reality crashed the party.

I expect them to shamelessly pretend that they were right all along.

This is an open thread.

I don’t know…I couldn’t bring myself to watch much of it on TV yesterday because of all of the meme-spouting that was going on, and every “news” outlet was doing it. It’s pretty amazing really. But this morning I kept thinking as I was working in the garden, when will the worm turn? When will people say enough is enough? And not about gun ownership or the NRA or the 2nd Amendment but about standing up to bullshit politicians and the fear of the PC “police” descending upon you for something you may say, even to alert others to possible danger. I live in a wonderful, very mixed neighborhood in a small city in South Florida that is riddled with “sober homes” as they are called here (hardly sober). We have a “street philosophy” here to look everyone in the eye who walks or drives by that we don’t know….and wave and say hello!!! If we don’t know a passerby, we greet them. They know that we have seen them. We talk about anything suspicious. Pretty much everyone owns a gun. At this point, it all seems to be about fear and I am wondering when the worm will actually turn and we can become strong again instead of fearful. Or are we passed that point? The current politics of this country disgusts me.

What’s really duplicitous is that all of the “common sense gun control” being proposed would not have stopped 90% of mass shootings, including this one. I think Obama mentioned using the no fly list as a “no gun” list. That might sound good, except the list is secret, you don’t know when you’re on it unless they don’t let you on a flight and it’s been used before by the government as retribution.

Instead, they attack talking to God. I’d rather talk to God than the government.

    • Myiq2xu says:

How many of these shooters were on the no-fly list?

    • 1539days says:

Exactly. The progs are trying very hard not to say “European style gun ban” but that’s what they’re constantly alluding to when they talk about the US being unique in gun violence and doing something about guns.

These killers used long guns, which is not the kind of weapon people like Andrew Cuomo can’t talk about because of all the hunters in New York State. They’re playing the long game, though. 20 years ago, Democrats denied left and right that they weren’t fighting for gay marriage, either.

      • Propertius says:

The progs are trying very hard not to say “European style gun ban” but that’s what they’re constantly alluding to

Why not? After all, it worked so well in Paris.

    • leslie says:

Maybe they could use the “terror watch list” that so many of the most recent killers or wannabe killers were on?

  16. jennifer lyn says:

I think people are killing each other because the whole world has lost its moral compass. Guns have absolutely nothing to do with it. Killers are not made into killers because they buy a gun and, depending on the firm doing the reporting, alcohol kills between 3 and 10 times as many people than guns each year. So there. Europe and other countries may not have as many mass killings by gun but look at the continent of Africa alone and there have been MILLIONS of mass murders by knife and other means (some guns too but you get my drift). Obama and the liberals are ignoring the real problem, as usual. We have lost our humanity, if we ever had it, and until we get back to basics the world is a lost cause. I want to start with this statement: The Muslim religion is contrary to the United States Constitution giving men and women equal rights thus it cannot be allowed to exist in this country. This is the truth and if we just met religion head on with this statement we could begin to heal a bit. Burkhas, Child Rape, the owning and selling of women, death killings of women–this cannot exist in this country as a protected ‘religion.’ Until we start with the truth we will never get the right answer or solution. The entire religion is based on child rape (yes I said it) and it makes me sick. As a woman I am beyond angered every time I see a woman in a sheet. Can you imagine the outrage if a black man was wearing a noose or shackles? It is exactly the same thing as the selling and buying of women in the Muslim culture is pure economics as well as being social and political. STOP THE INSANITY. Until we call it what it is we will never find a solution. I know many will say that this is not an accurate representation of all Muslims and my response back is that there were good men in the KKK too but that does not make it a good organization. When the head is sick the body must follow. Real forward thinking, or just plain common sense, must be used now. Unless you want to drink the kool aid with Obama–I think the stupidest thing (and there are so many to choose from) he ever said was that Isis was contained–ISIS and Muslim hatred of our free-but-losing-freedoms-every-second country will NOT END unless we make it end. And it must start with truth. And God Bless Ted Cruz and Donald Trump.

Look at France. People don’t get to own guns and someone found them anyway.

      • Jadzia says:

I don’t want to get into a big thing about this, but it is not true that gun ownership is illegal here. My law-abiding father in law has a big old cabinet FULL of them, and not antiques, either. We have gun clubs and gun ranges and shooting events. Yes, there is more regulation and gun ownership doesn’t have 2nd Amendment type legal status here. But to say that we “don’t get to own guns” just isn’t true.

        • 1539days says:

Fair enough. But hand guns seem to be restricted to the point of being unavailable, so it would be very difficult to protect yourself with anything but a Joe Biden shot gun defense.

          • Jadzia says:

I don’t get the “Joe Biden” reference?

          • Jadzia says:

And sure, that’s fair; hand guns are less available here. That said, I remember when I lived in the States (not TOO long ago!) that it was pretty standard at any rock concert or big sporting event to get searched (bag check at the very least) on the way in, so I’m not sure that it would have been more likely that the Bataclan horror could have been prevented by a gun-toting good guy if the theater had been in, say, Duluth instead of Paris. The cafes are a different story, of course. But I don’t really want to fight about this. It’s not All About France today. : (

          • 1539days says:

Jadzia, you’re our French ambassador. Obviously, you know what you’re talking about. Even in the US, places like Texas and Utah where you can conceal carry all the time are the exception.

The Joe Biden thing was his suggestion that you can repel criminals by firing a shotgun in the air.

This is totally not in keeping with the tone of this post, but I just want to let all of you know, Elliesdad, Ellie and I are safely moved to Rhode Island. Maxine, the cat, is refusing to move, and I have the big scratches to prove it. She wants to stay in the old house, and my daughter is delighted to have her so I think we’ll let her be. I’ve tried to get her in the cat carrier for three days, and she’s not having any part in it. If I can find the box with the silverware in it, I think we can say we’re safely here.

Coming here this morning is the first I’ve heard about the latest shootings. We’ve had no phone, TV, or internet since early Monday morning. My car radio is permanently turned to relaxing music. It will take me some time to catch up, but I think I’m glad I’ve been in a news blackout. 😦

  18. jennifer lyn says:

If you look at the world the countries ruled by despot leaders have no guns in private hands. My god the people of Mexico are at the mercy of drug dealers and evil government officials they couldn’t fight back if they wanted to (same for Cuba, N. Korea–get my drift). Guns are NOT the problem. Cars kill TONS more people than guns are they the problem? Guns have historically given freedom and then protected people and countries. Today, in a world where you can kill a puppy, video it and make money because some sick asshole wants to get off to this and there isn’t a crime you can be convicted for (this happened in Texas last year), guns are not the f..king problem. Not by a long shot.

The Democrats are soft on terror and hard on faith. Should be a win-win for the Republicans.

    • leslie says:

It’ll be a win-win for the Republicans if they get the candidate of their choice and somehow shut down the Trump supporters. Otherwise, it’s another win for the Dems.

      • DandyTIger says:

Their choice is Jeb. At least the establishment GOP. There’s no way in the universe Jeb wins, even over Sanders if that could happen. I suspect their second choice is Rubio, who I think would win over Hillary. Trump is certainly a wild card to be sure, but I think he would actually win.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio showing common sense: Citizens should be carrying their arms so they can quickly stop a bad guy. Critics say that’s a bad idea; somebody might get hurt. (I was disgusted to hear a “security expert” on the radio yesterday talking about teaching people to “shelter in place”, closing blinds to prevent bad guys from seeing them, silencing phones to keep a worried caller from betraying your position. Shelter in place? You mean, “cower in place”.)

Probably a sign of my age, but no woman would have survived being a Platoon or Company Commander in my husband’s “infantry” battalion, if they survived his training that is. The “wives” barely survived 😉

      This is PC bullcrap.

      • DeniseVB says:

Agree. My mom was a Marine during WW2, she was just happy to get out of the NYC projects 🙂

      • I disagree. This might be the biggest feminist story of the year. Let’s give it a few years and see what happens. I personally think women will kick ass and take names, then create a database for organized mass burials. This should have happened in 1972, but we got abortion instead. Which one does more to thwart the patriarchy? I know my answer…

        • 1539days says:

If it were done without political considerations, I’d agree. Once the administration decides that something is a good idea, they’ll implement it regardless of reasonable considerations. I suspect that if women can’t perform in exactly the numbers their advocates want, they will game the system until the statistics look good.

    • SHV says:

The Marine mixed gender infantry units had sub-standard performance during evaluation exercises especially when the exercises involved crew served weapons and/or when ammunition was being carried. Navy Sec. said he didn’t care, diversity was the objective.

    The Wiz *LiVe*, on NBC

It really sucks, so decided not to start a new thread. You’re welcome 😉

    • elliesmom says:

Isn’t it “cultural appropriation” for black people to make a black version of “The Wizard of Oz?” Like Dolly Levi is a Jewish yenta, not a black woman, but they “adapted” the role for Pearl Bailey. As a white person, I’m feeling micro-aggressed.

    • 1539days says:

It’s like a copy of a copy. “The Wiz” was already a remake of the Wizard of Oz with an all black cast.
