Bern, Baby, Bern!

It’s deja vu all over again:

MoveOn endorses Bernie Sanders

Bernie Sanders on Tuesday scored the endorsement of MoveOn, the liberal advocacy organization announced in a statement.

The Vermont senator prevailed in online balloting that ran from last Thursday through Sunday night, winning 78.6 percent of the vote out of 340,665 ballots cast — both records in terms of most votes cast and largest margin of victory. Just 14.6 percent voted for Hillary Clinton, and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley earned 0.9 percent, with 5.9 percent of ballots in favor of not endorsing a particular candidate this time.

“This is a massive vote in favor of Bernie Sanders, showing that grassroots progressives across the country are excited and inspired by his message and track record of standing up to big money and corporate interests to reclaim our democracy for the American people,” Political Action Executive Director Ilya Sheyman said in a statement. “MoveOn members are feeling the Bern. We will mobilize aggressively to add our collective people power to the growing movement behind the Sanders campaign, starting with a focus on voter turnout in Iowa and New Hampshire.”

MoveOn members previously voted to back candidates twice before — Howard Dean in the 2004 cycle and Barack Obama in 2008. Candidates now only receive an endorsement if they get more than two-thirds support from members. In the case of Dean, the Vermont governor won a mere plurality of 44 percent; in 2008, the group said that its endorsement of Obama (who earned 70 percent to Clinton’s 30 percent) was the first of its kind.

They hate her. They really hate her.

This comes on the same day that new polls show Bernie Sanders leading in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Schadenfreude is good any time of year.

Feeling the Bern – That sensation you get when you learn that MoveOn overwhelmingly endorsed your opponent. Again.

To tell you the truth, I do prefer Bernie to Hillary as he is honest, doesn’t pander and seems like a nice guy. I also have Clinton fatigue.

Dems (or Dams as spell check wants to say) are kind of screwed this year. Loving it.

  3. DandyTIger says:

I’m kind of feeling like Trump or someone on the GOP side might try to undo and fix things. But very possibly will make things much worse. And Bernie will definitely make things much worse. And I’m OK with either at this point. Nothing like a fresh start (after it all burns down).

I missed the show but read the Gervais zinger highlights, no wonder ratings jumped this year over the Fey/Poehler hosties last year. Ouch!

Benghazi was her turning point. If at that point, she had said, screw you Obama, I’m rescuing my friend, then Obama could have lost and Hillary could have run against Mitt’s magic Mormon underwear this year.

Speaking of Podesta, and since it is tinfoil Tuesday, I’ll link to a rather interesting find. This 10 minute video sort of explains the Podesta/UFO thing. The links/connections are fascinating and eye opening. Hint, Geo. Soros is involved.

Can I borrow your tin foil hat for a sec.
Given the democrats skill in changing the rulz whenever allowing Joe Biden to run as a seventh party Demo-rat, I can see him announcing that he loves our country so very very much that he will run with a side of Lizzy to save the party and gubermint of the people. And he is constitutionally eligible, from the original compact to the present day constitution.

        • piper says:

Guess what – others are seeing the possibility of Joe entering race
“Vice President Joe Biden is the obvious Plan B for the Democratic Party, and there’s no doubt the party would change the nomination rules if it has to in order to put Slow Joe in the fast lane. It’s been done before. In 1968, when LBJ dropped out early in the primary season but definitely wanted to prevent the hated Bobby Kennedy from getting the nomination and effecting The Restoration, the party establishment got behind Vice President Humphrey, who won the nomination that year without entering a single primary. To be sure, the rules were changed after that to enable George McGovern to get the nomination four years later, but there’s no reason Democrats can’t change them again in a crisis. Just ask New Jersey voters and Frank Lautenberg.

Last night Biden appeared on CNN and sounded like a man keeping his options open, and moreover tilting in favor of Sanders. Hasn’t he got the memo that the party establishment is trying to clear the road for Hillary? Biden said all the wrong things at a moment when polls suddenly show Sanders gaining on Hillary in Iowa and New Hampshire. If Hillary loses both of those early contests, it might be over for her. Biden:

Vice President Joe Biden offered effusive praise for Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders Monday, lauding Hillary Clinton’s chief rival for doing a “heck of a job” on the campaign trail and praising Sanders for offering an authentic voice on income inequality.

And while Biden said Democrats had a slate of “great candidates” running for president, he suggested Clinton was a newcomer to issues like the growing gap between rich and poor.

“Bernie is speaking to a yearning that is deep and real. And he has credibility on it,” Biden said during an interview with CNN chief political analyst Gloria Borger.

Oh my Goddess the Irony. The organization created for the benefit of Hillary’s husband, doesn’t endorse his wife. Obama did a really good job ensuring his cult followers still despise her. I swear to beans Miss Agnes, I bet some of them are delusional enough to think Obama will somehow remain in office.
But I would love to see Bernie emerge as the D candidate, because the R’s would roll right over him. He is an unknown, and has very little personal appeal; and his policies are disastrous and delusional.
I might have to buy stock in a popcorn company.

I just received a brief report from the (my) town’s daily news that the Dem Party voted over the weekend to endorse those local Dems running for office in IL. And For Preezy. It took them at least 2 votes to finally award their endorsement to HRC. and that was only after giving her the 2nd place votes she also had “won”. One of the readers asked who won 2nd place and how many votes was he behind her. That info was unavailable. No. It’s not going to be easy for Hillary even in IL.

    • DeniseVB says:

Leslie, I may have asked you this before, if so, sorry for the repeat. What IL CD do you live in ? Whenever you and Cynic bring up IL politics, I just get sentimental for my old boss, John Erlenborn, IL-14 who I worked for in his DC office, circa mid-late 60’s. That may be before your time. Just wanted you to know, I missed the whole hippy-dippy movement to embrace “The System” made more sense for us.

      • leslie says:

I’m in the 9th CD. Jan Schakowsky is my “Representative”.. I know of John Erlenborn but never lived in his district. I know you speak of working for him with fondness. I didn’t realize until just now that your boss was from IL. Maybe I just wasn’t paying attention.

I was a ground trooper for Hillary in 08′ Never have I felt so betrayed. I get
what politics is but PA primary she was fighting. I got behind her. I stood on highways with her signs, I made calls. Election day I walked the elderly to vans to vote. I was there to the bitter end. 2016 came along and I I find her repulsive. I cannot listen to her. She lies. I stood with a kid watching her. Thought my little girl could say she was two and heard first woman president speak. Now she makes me sick. Represents nothing of what I believe in my little girl. Boys, girls either way I think she is awful. Eight years ago I believed in her. I was angry but now I am starting to pity her.

Moveon endorsing Sanders. I’d love to scoff but I find it sad.

    • taw46 says:

I did not campaign for her officially, but sure did talk her up to everyone I could. donated money many times to her campaign. Probably wanted her to be President since Bill was elected. I was over her in summer of 2008, when she didn’t fight. It was all about her and her future, not the 18 million who got screwed.

      • mothy67, says:

She makes me sick. I have zero respect for her.
I care a little about my nieces. Not very much. It hurts me to hear Hillary and Debbie speaking for women. So gross. I havea throwaway kid that it is one of 6 kids on an inter school math contest. She is head engineer on a project. She has been in tae kwon do for a year and a half. Now there are 7 girls fom her class taking tea kwon do. She got MVP in softball so many times. She did a ballet solo at the fall festival.
She is a good kid. Straight A’s during this common core shift.
I refuse to let her drown in self pity. Poor Poor Pitiful Me was always played. Hillary sells a broken or disgusting woman. I pray my brat is nothing like Lena Dunham. I find nothing redeeming about her. So putrid. I am neurotic so of course I worry that perhaps I am projecting. I thought it through — nope she’s a pig and I hope my nieces never resort to her twisted image. Hillary Clinton uses Dunham? How daft is she? I am gay but I would say next to no man on the planet finds Lena attractive. Again gay and I find her so offensive. I have more respect for a woman that does hard core porn than Dunham. Hillary’s friend.

        • taw46 says:

You are good with the kid, and I am sure she will be an outstanding human being. She already is!
I have no respect for Dunham, either. Can’t believe Hillary is campaigning with her, disgusting.

Her dad lives with a junkie and her kid. He wanted the pup to buy the little girl a Christmas present translation wanted me to buy a gift. Um tens of thousands in legal bills that’s gonna be a no. He provides zero support yet he told her to buy a gift. She didn’t. Sure you all know how Santa’s Workshop at school goes. Your money the kid is spending. Seems common sense that if he wants a gift for his girlfriends child he would pay. Christmas Eve she declared “that’s not who I am” to not give a child a gift. So she parted with one of hers. Her choice. The other girl gave her Reese’s Cups. She laughed and told me it was worth it. Judge ordered until he takes a psych eval any further court actions he will be responsible for my parents legal fees. . He paid for the test and filed again the same day. His stupidity is mind blowing. Paying for exam does not equal taking it. As of now he sees her 2x/week in a public place. My parents have to be nearby and she has to have a cellphone which she has used in tears several times from the bathroom. His latest is he wants unsupervised every weekend. He was in jail for the first hearing years ago. Everytime we go to family court he has a string of charges. He knocked out his girlfriends front teeth. Beat her down got her hooked on heroin and now he owns her. They have a kid living with them in a very sketchy neighborhood. The girlfriend nodded off during pup’s Christmas show. School social worker went against all protocol and wrote a letter to the judge. Playoffs in softball she MVP many times. Coach from opposing team is ex CIA he did an extensive background check for nothing. So much wrong. Guy sends her snow globes from all over the world. He is an uncle on the opposing team but he saw how bad it could be and he offered his skills. My nephew, I believe, runs a fake company to hide heroin profits. He claims he is a contractor making thousands a month. He has no certifications. No website. He has one employee, his dad. My ex brother in law was Allegheney County’s most wanted. He gets arrested all the time for stealing steaks. He used to beat my sister nothing we did worked. She’d call in the middle of the night broken my mom and dad would drive all night bring her home a few days later she was back with him. He beat her and there was nothing to be done. We had fights I tried to implant a shovel in his chest. My dad, my grandmother beat him up. We’ve all faced charges. Nothing ever worked she went back to him. My nephew grew up in a home where his mother was owned. He is such a prick, wants to create his own little kingdom. Men like that scare me. Very much like ISIS. Kid has almost ten years of freedom. He tries to control her in the little bit of time they spend together. She loves Hermione Granger outgrowing it a bit but he raised a stink on Halloween She is my daughter she will love vampires and zombies. I am her dad she belongs to me. I will tell her what she likes
Of course that will happen on hmmmmm never.
I don’t buy into bullshit. No pity. My pup was never felt sorry for. I want to scream the word yes from mountaintops. She was thrown away. A middle aged f a g g o t said wait I dig this kid. Straight A’s, green belt, head engineer, opened up Christmas with a ballet solo, MVP many times clarinet, sax. And above all else — kind. One girl in her class did not have money for shoes for gym. My mudroom has plastic bookshelves of her shoes. She asked can I give this girl a pair. I get tons of free stuff from fashion friends but I didn’t want to be rude or make her mother uncomfortable so I said I had a bogo for Athlete’s footwear store. Shay only needs new cleats can I give your daughter the free pair. Figured it saved face. Bought very nice shoes her mom exchanged them and she had on the cheapest pair the store sold two days later. I assume it was store credit as I did not give her a reciept and there were no changes on my debit card. Confess I found it very rude.
