Dh and I have this ongoing sparring about what’s more important….his Sports Center or my The Five addiction. Today I won. He realized his love of sports doesn’t affect our lives as much as my love of politics. Oh, and he figured that out when he thought I was watching Sports Center, when it was Fox News. 😉 (Ok, to be fair, FNC is totally going Sports Center today with the Iowa CaCa balls to walls coverage, and I’m loving it!) Ratings!

I’m not sure what this poll is, but Fox is now “announcing” the LAST POLL before OMG IOWA! Looks like the GOP Top Ten have a chance, OMG, DEMS, Hillary/Bernie TIED. Are we having fun yet?

    Just remember….

Can you imagine what it must be like for voter in Iowa and NH? They have been inundated for months with TV ads for various candidates. They are probably getting robocalled 2-3 times an hour. The mail carriers must hate this worse than JCP catalog day because every house gets 2 lbs of campaign junk mail every single day. They can’t go anywhere without getting accosted by a candidate.

Then just a few days from now it is over. The phone stops ringing. The TV shows ads for laxatives and feminine hygiene products. The candidates have all disappeared.

  6. DeniseVB says:

    Hope this works….

That story has already been out there. I’ve heard about 5 times that Reagan lost Iowa too.

    • DandyTIger says:

Statistically speaking, Iowa kind of doesn’t matter. It’s the kind of place Cruz should win. I think if Cruz doesn’t win, that should be the big story. And maybe a bigger story will be if neither Cruz nor Trump wins.

      • taw46 says:

Iowa doesn’t matter. I am not watching FOX tonight, but I think her point is, FOX is making it seem that Iowa does matter. But, if Trump were to win, it suddenly would not be so important. We shall see.

Feel the Bern Kid- People should stop saying we believe in unicorns. We don’t expect Bernie to be able to accomplish what he says he will. We’re just sending a message about what direction we want the country to go in. We know it will take time to get there. Electing Bernie is just a first step.

Me- You might be surprised at how much you have in common with Trump’s supporters. They don’t expect him to accomplish everything they want in 4 years either. They’re sending a message, too. It’s too bad you all can’t sit down and have an honest conversation about how you all think government is failing you. But all of the name-calling gets in the way. You can’t call people racist, xenophobic, homophobic, and knuckle-dragging science deniers and expect them to have a conversation with you. The left believes the right is evil, and the right believes the left is stupid. If you”re willing to accept neither side may be right about the other, we might be able to talk.

Feel the Bern Kid- Anyone who supports Trump is a xenophobic hater.

Me- You do realize 40% of the American people say they refuse to vote for a socialist? That’s a pretty strong headwind to start with.

Feel the Bern Kid- That’s OK. When they listen to us, we’ll change their minds.

      Bangs head in desk.

I love my brat so much because she is funny. We fought tooth and nail about her getting a youtube channel. I did not want it. She is 9 and she beat me down. I said you do not upload until I see your video. Good lord her first one had my mom, her great grandmother, playing mine craft.
She has one subscriber and it is her mom’s babies daddy. They have two kids.I talk very openly with my pup..I asked does it bother you that your mom kept Lily and Zach but you were abandoned. She smiled and told me I am happy
Good God how does this happen. I was born w ith two holes in my heart left ventricle leaked my valves did not work. I have throat scars from trechs. I died twice. I am still alive. Poor gay guy with a throw away grand niece. Think about it. How many great gay uncles raise a child. Add in open heart surgeries and I venture to say my brat is unique. I’d take it all twice because she i s kind.

    Waaay OT ~
Did anyone watch the SAG Awards last night? I couldn’t because I was babysitting and they don’t get TNT or TBS. I was just looking at the recipients list and noticed that every minority who was nominated won the SAG Award. Is this in reaction to the Oscars or were each of them truly the most deserving winner?
I know it makes me sound (the R word), but here in obama’s post-racial ‘merica, this is how I’ve begun to think. I don’t like it, either.
If anyone saw “Bridge of Spies”, you’ll know just how amazing Mark Rylance was in his role. The did not – movie could not move forward without thinking of his very existence. I’ll see “Beasts of No Nation” later today to watch Idris Elba (who is one of my favorite actors).

    • elliesmom says:

Eventually, we all get to a point where we question whether a win by a minority is at least in part affirmative action. It’s a shame really because it taints the real accomplishments of minorities. Mark Rylance was brilliant in “Bridge of Spies”.

      • leslie says:

        Sadly, so true.
I hadn’t seen Mark Rylance in anything else, and I was over the moon with his beautiful portrayal of the spy, Abel.
As I said, I’m going to see Idris Elba later today in the movie. I watched him a year ago as he starred in his own series, “Luther”. At one point I read he was being suggested as the “new” James Bond following Daniel Craig (swoon). Elba is also swoon-worthy imho.

    • swanspirit says:

I watched to see the clothes, and with the exception of a few, notably Helen Mirren, who was stunning, they were generally disappointing, but after seeing who was winning the awards, I questioned it too. Definitely some deliberate diversity in those awards.

The working class is tired of shit sandwiches.

“Many, if not most, of the people who show up at Trump rallies are not closely aligned with the world of politics and its operation. They tend not to be union members, activists for seniors, or members of the church political outreach club.
“They are average and politically unconnected people who feel that the government and big companies and foreign countries have screwed or forgotten them.”
