Bye Bye Twitter! UPDATE: Hello New Hampshire!

“@Jack” is Jack Dorsey, the co-founder and CEO of Twitter. Today he was officially assimilated into the SWJ Borg. How much longer Twitter will survive depends on how long it takes for people to agree on an alternative social media platform that allows the free exchange of ideas.

Bye Felicia!

This will also be our NH results thread.

Early takeaway: Yuuge turnout.

Now would be a good time to start selling your Twitter stock.

Sadly I’m not surprised. They’ve been heading down this road for a while now. Good opportunity.

I am sure all of those groups listed are left-leaning, no conservative or free speech groups among them. Sigh. I just wish somewhere there was a sane person getting ready to offer an alternative to Twitter. They just about ruined Facebook, now going after this.

  6. swanspirit says:

On Facebook, if someone is bothering you, or for any reason you want, you simply block them. Twitter has a block option too.
These control freaks are simply never satisfied. They cannot deal wit freedom of expression.

  7. lyn says:

    I so pissed!

  8. 49erDweet says:

OT: The SJW editor of a Texas paper is now judge and jury. “Stephanie Zarriello, the editor-in-chief of The San Antonio Observer, said Antronie Scott was ‘unjustly murdered’ when a police officer shot him last week”. In a case where the officer has been publicly identified and is still under investigation. Texas is fortunate to have her Saves a lotta money on investigatin’ and litigatin’.

  9. elliesmom says:

The polls close in NH in an hour.

  10. taw46 says:

The way the news people have been talking on both MSNBC and FOX certainly does sound like Trump and Sanders are winning by big numbers. We shall see.

  11. piper says:

Problems with Scott Walker campaign occurred when he hired big Washington, D.C. consultants who changed the way his campaign operated and his message. Also he’s more of a doer than talker /smoosher.

    • elliesmom says:

Walker’s ability to get things done is what made him an attractive candidate to me. Since he dropped out, I’ve been looking for someone else to support, but it hasn’t happened for me yet.

  12. Propertius says:

It’s a predictable consequence of the privatization (and oligopolization, if that’s actually a word) of the Internet. I long for the old, anarchic Usenet days.

Here we go, NH polls are closed.

Went to see Star Wars again today, enjoyed it so much more for some reason.

  14. taw46 says:

Just saw there are yuuuge lines in Bedford (??) school and line of cars waiting to get in to parking lot to vote. Many have to register for first time. Also, traffic jam in Merrimack, they will be allowed to vote. Long night.

Laconia vote totals (historically picks 1st, 2nd and 3rd):

    Trump 32
    Kasich 16
    Jeb! 12
    Cruz (around 10)
    Rubio (around 10)
    Christie 6.9

    Bernie 54
    Hillary 46

  23. lyn says:

  24. DeniseVB says:

Fox confimed Trump and Sanders too. Looks like the story for the rest of the night is the GOP 2-3-4-5 finishers and then who should drop out.

Will Hillary be the Comeback kid like Bill was? 😉

Hillary’s doing the Hillary version of the Dean Scream. His wasn’t so annoying.

  40. DandyTIger says:

So if Cruz gets third, which he has right now, he then wins NH right? Like Rubio won Iowa. Asking for friend.

  41. DeniseVB says:

Bernie up now. MUCH more excited crowd.

  42. Underwhelmed says:

No, wait, this is bound to win all the lost middle class blue collar voters back to Hillary:

  43. jennifer lyn says:

I am proud to have supported Trump from the first debate on. He is the real deal and we would be damn lucky to have him or Cruz. GO TRUMP GO CRUZ. Hillary is as washed up as Obama’s “hope and change” slogan. She deserves to go down as a political whore, a crook, a killer, a liar and the reason I am not a ‘feminist.’ I am ashamed of her and her entire family. May she lose every single primary between now and when she is indicted.

    • Underwhelmed says:

I am so very very sorry for all the people who really did believe in her and fight for her back in the day. Maybe we will never know what happened — was she always this venal, or did 2008 ruin her – but regardless, it’s a special kind of pain to lose all faith in and respect for someone who once meant so much.

      • leslie says:

Thank you, Underwhelmed. This Is/has been difficult over the past several (8) years. Now, I look back with great sadness and disappointment at the person Hillary is or became. Your empathy is a real gift.

    • mothy67, says:

I genuflect to you except the Cruz part. He has gotten too creepy.

  44. mothy67, says:

What is the dealwith Hillary and that company everyone says wants to take over the world’s food supply. My friends all really hate her. We were all drunk having a phone party and they went off. To be honest I only ever half listen to them. Something about Dr Evil , CGI and the Count of Monte Crisco. I really didn’t care enough to dissect moms hiding from their kids to get drunk on the phone. Why one hides when one has an au pair. They are of means around 50 with kids. You’d think they’d all be pulling for Hillary. Far from it. All about Sanders.
What is the deal with Clinton and this food company. I can never recall the name it is a monta something. Seems the clinton’s foundation has some shady ties to them. Because I am brain dead I can’t do a search. I get Thomas Jefferson’s estate or hotel rooms in Montecito.

  45. DandyTIger says:

I’m starting to get the impression they don’t like Trump. 🙂

  46. lyn says:

  47. Myiq2xu says:

  48. DeniseVB says:

Good Lord Bernie, your victory speech sounds like, uh, Trump? Nice shout out to Brooklyn, and if the Powers That Be screw up and twerk the conventions, I may be feeling the Bern 🙂

  49. DeniseVB says:

    On to South Carolina !
Who else here is in a Super Tuesday state on March 1 ? I am !!

  50. taw46 says:

I saw Pat Caddell earlier on FOX. He thinks Trump can run the table. He does say SC will be a battle between Trump, Bush, and Cruz, because each have large group of supporters there.

  51. taw46 says:

Still pushing Rubio, FOX? They are carrying his speech over Kasich.

  52. abcd says:

It’s 2008 all over again, ‘cept Bernie is Hillary….wait not quite as straight an analogy as I thought..

  53. Venus says:

Trump won across ALL demographics — independents, women, educated, HS only, high income, low income.

I like Cruz and would be happy with either Cruz or Trump as a big, fat FU to the establishment (although Trump is by far the bigger FU) but doing 1% better than JEB! (who the hell even votes for Jeb! for the love of all that is good and holy?) is no big “win” (although 3rd place is the new “winning”) especially when first place is 34% and 3rd is 12% — Iowa was a difference of 3% between Cruz and Trump.

Finally, please let Rubio stay at 5th — I can’t stand that little charlatan. Hand to God, during Rubio’s speech about his father coming to this country speaking barely any English and 20 years later he couldn’t find work as a bartender my mother said “His dad is a loser. I came to this country speaking barely any English and 20 years later I had her Ph.D. in Mathematics.” And you know, that is mean, but she’s right — her dad is NOT an inspirational story here — my mom is.

  54. mothy67, says:

Who does Kasich appeal to? He is so non existant to me. Every debate when he spoke I was like oh yeah that guys still here.

    • 1539days says:

Kasich is popular in Ohio and New Hampshire. In this case, 2nd place really doesn’t matter because Kasich is doomed to low single digits everywhere else until he drops out.

  55. mothy67, says:

I am intrigued by how clueless all the pundits are. I have friends that run a very broad spectrum from frequent flyers at rehabs to moguls. I know not one person that supports Hillary. All these talking heads seem so shocked she got destroyed.

  56. Venus says:

An amazingly interesting post on HA from “osarwilde” (a regular there) that I had to share here:

In 1989 I hitchhiked around America. At one point I found myself on the Island of Nantucket, it was early May, the height of Nantucket’s tourist season. I was pretty much out of money and bought myself a pack of hot dogs for supper.

I went to the harbor to eat them while watching the boats sail around the Island. On one of the private docks there are bungalows that belong to slip owners. Out in front of one of those bungalows was a man grilling several steaks.

He saw me eating my raw hot dogs and offered to let me cook them on his grill. I put a couple of hot dogs on his grill, and gratefully accepted the beer he offered me. Then, to my surprise, as he was flipping on of his steaks, he knocked my hot dogs into the coals.

He feigned surprise and apologized, and gave me one of the steaks he was grilling.

Yes… the man I am talking about is Donald Trump. No, in 1998 I had no idea who Donald Trump was. I did not find out who he was for several more months.

During the time were were sitting there drinking Heineken’s and eating our steaks we talked. For probably about 2 and a half to 3 hours. The private Donald Trump is nothing like the person you guys see on television.

His sense of humor is slightly ribald, he is soft spoken and gentle. He is amazingly comfortable in his own skin. If the nominee, I am still not sure I will vote for him.

But this I do know, anyone expecting him to be rude or snide in victory or even in defeat, have no clue who Donald Trump really is. They are making up a version of him in their own minds, that does not exist.

The real Donald Trump is actually a good and decent man, the question is not whether or not he is. It is, is he capable of making America a better place, or is his vision of America just more of the Socialist/Marxist crap that is already killing America. That is a question I cannot answer yet.

A lot of people want to believe that Trump is playing everyone for fools and lying to everyone. That is not consistent with the Donald Trump that I met on Nantucket. Mordor on the Potomac has a tendency to corrupt even the most noble hearted of people, Trump may well be no exception.

In 1980 in my very first presidential election, I took a chance on a actor from California. An actor that the entire political machine and the entire Mainstream Media assured me was an ignorant buffoon and closet Democrat. An actor that the entire political machine and the entire Mainstream Media assured me was a lying actor who would bring about the end of the world.

Hell, they even suggested that he might go off his rocker and nuke Denmark or something. That actor was of course, Ronald Reagan. In 2003 I took that exact same gamble on another actor… That did not work out so well, the Govinator turned out to be a Turdinator.

The question everyone will have to face and answer, is… Do you think Donald Trump is lying to you and playing you for a fool. If that is what you really honestly think, then you really need to quit lying to everyone and vote for Jeb or Hillary. (Not that anyone who does not personally know Donald Trump but believes he is lying is capable of being that honest).

Thank you so much for that story. I keep coming across these private Donald Trump stories, and they all point to a really good and genuinely honest and even modest man. I have to admit that some of the things Trump does I still find personally offensive, but I find more to like about him all the time.

    • Somebody says:

I’ve heard a lot of Trump being nice, like paying off the people’s mortgage when they helped change a tire. He’s been well known for angel flights, etc. However, I’m not so sure about this story because the author claims to have shared a beer with Trump and Trump has made it clear he doesn’t, nor has he ever imbibed in alcohol, drugs or tobacco. It’s not a religious thing, it’s mainly because of his brother and also his drive to succeed……have an advantage, stay healthy.

  57. DandyTIger says:

    • 1539days says:

And Trump got second in Iowa. I’m just glad there’s an actual horse race, rather than a coronation, either for Bush/Rubio or Trump.

      • Venus says:

Trump got 2nd in Iowa with 3.3% less votes than Cruz. Cruz got 1 more delegate than Trump.
Trump got 1st in NH with DOUBLE the amount of 2nd place (with Cruz 24% less than Trump). Trump will have more than DOUBLE the amount of delegates as Kasich and 3x as many as Cruz.

        It’s not a 1 win/1 loss kind of thing.

        But you know that.

        Or at least you should.
