best in life

How quickly things change. An hour ago Marco Rubio was on live television mocking the typos in Donald Trump’s tweets.

Then this happened:

BREAKING: Chris Christie Endorses Trump

Absolutely amazing. On the cable nets now.

Rubio makes headway with mocking Trump and then Trump and Christie just STOMP on it.

Suddenly nobody is talking about debates, tax returns or typos.

The lesson here is if you want to make a big splash you need a big fat guy.

I would be super happy to NEVER AGAIN be informed by the media that Chris Christie is fat. I can see that he is fat! He knows that he is fat! Who the fuck cares?

  2. lyn says:

Wow–Trump is really, really going after Rubio.

  3. Myiq2xu says:

I am generally dismissive of endorsements, but this one is unusually important. It changes the subject, which Trump needed. The endorsement of a former rival is usually a big get. It is an endorsement of Trump by someone seen as mainstream/establishment. It comes at a critical moment just before a multi-state primary.

Unless Marco or Ted has a bigger trump card up their sleeve this pretty much locks down the weekend news cycle.

    • One of Trump’s strengths is that rather than whine about the media being sensationaism whores, he ACCEPTS that they are whores, and uses their whoriness to his advantage.

    • Jadzia says:

I also think that it’s significant because in a Republican field that is remarkably polarizing, Chris Christie is probably the least repugnant to people who have voted Dem in the past. He’s got some small amount of crossover appeal, and I think that’s significant given the steady drumbeat of media coverage that basically amounts to: “Donald Trump? Worse than Hitler? Or only as bad as Stalin?”

  4. Trump is playing this smart. Few working class whites are actual bigots, but they are sick and damn tired of groveling en masse every time someone sees a racist under a bush.

  5. GOP knows they are beat.

  6. Myiq2xu says:

  7. I freakin’ LOVE this election.

  8. Rubio just asked the media to call him the front-runner, then called Trump the front-runner. On CNN.

    • DandyTIger says:

Will Rubio cry? Maybe the puddle under Rubio in the debates isn’t sweat, or even urine, but is instead tears.

    • Somebody says:

Rubio asked the media to call him the frontrunner?? Damn he’s acting like an entitled little millennial snowflake, talk about the ultimate pander! Here wittle boy, here’s your special participation trophy.

      • Haha!

Okay, full context, Rubio was asked if he could be considered the “anti-trump candidate” and his response was “or front-runner. You can call me front-runner.” Then like 2 seconds later he was describing Trump and said something like, “Look, he’s the front-runner… (insert pause & stupid look in his eye as he realized what he’d just done) He tells us this everyday anyway…”

Rubio is 100% not ready to be prez. None of these clowns is, actually. But Trump will make the most heads explode among the people I want revenge on, so I’ma vote for him as of right now. Ask me again tomorrow, I might change my mind. Probably not, but there’s a chance. 2008-2016 had consequences. You’re looking at what they are.

        • Somebody says:

OK thanks for the context, I thought the fix was in for sure and Marco had spilled the beans. I thought maybe he’d already used the RNC’s credit card to buy himself some white columns and a President Elect seal.

  9. DeniseVB says:

Shep just played all the Rubio “Trump is a con artist” comments on a loop. LOL.

  12. How the fuck can the media credibly claim this Christie endorsement is a “surprise”? That New Hampshire debate was chock full of tell. They practically kissed each other when it was over. FFS.

  13. Here’s an interesting thing. GOP’s perennial problem has always been they either have a candidate who can carry the South/Evangelicals, but is weak everywhere else, or vice versa.

I think there is a good chance Trump has just cracked that code. He is sweeping the south *without* having to go all Jesusy, and IMO will kill in the rust belt and former industrial towns.

  14. DeniseVB says:

    True story.😉

  15. Dora says:

Another intelligent statement from the Bush camp:

  16. DeniseVB says:

I love the lion references to Trump, hair’s the same too😉

Rubio mocking typos is Twitter — Twitter, for fuck’s sake — just makes him look like a douche.

  20. taw46 says:

Steve Munisteri, TX GOP, on MSNBC, doing all he can to talk down Trump. Also said not unlikely they will have a contested convention, that anyone could have their name put up, Romney or Perry. Yeah, we know, we read it from all the GOPe, that is what they are hoping.

  21. Dora says:

  22. DeniseVB says:

In other endorsement news, this will really help Kasich. Heh. Though in my “Trump is inevitable” travels I have seen Kasich being suggested DJT’s perfect VP pick references. Though doesn’t come highly recommended by our TCH delegate from Ohio, AFVet.😉

  23. DeniseVB says:

    It’s ok guys, I got this😛

  24. DeniseVB says:

    Sigh, I need a Jesus break😉 Enjoy !

  25. swanspirit says:

I just heard a whisper of a rumor Nancy Reagan will endorse Trump, but you didn’t hear it from me……

  26. Somebody says:

So Rubama is making the rounds on TV with his talking points, talking points. His signature insult for Trump is con man. His other line is that he is not going to allow Trump to hijack the conservative movement. He also is not going to allow Trump to represent the party of Reagan.

I’m curious who he’s trying to persuade. If he’s trying to persuade voters his rhetoric is offensive. It’s up to the voters who will represent the party and the movement. I’m pretty sure a lot of republicans don’t think Marco represents the conservative movement. Suddenly he decides he is entitled to be the final arbiter of who the nominee is, what hubris.

I think his message will only resonate with the establishment. Unfortunately for Marco as much as everyone says Trump has a ceiling, it would seem the establishment is the one with the real ceiling.

As a senator for my state Rubio has been AWOL, so I think of him as a con man. He certainly conned the voters of the state of Florida.

    • DandyTIger says:

      What a little snot.

    • leslie says:

I believe that Rubio thinking he is the arbiter of who the nominee is might be called a delusion. Maybe that is what DT was thinking of rather than Adderal, he probably meant Abilify. It is said to be helpful for delusions and paranoia.

    • blowme0bama says:

Fuck him and his fake ass self.

    • Underwhelmed says:

He may have had a ceiling, but every time one of these establishment pricks opens his mouth, they boost it a little higher. The arrogance is shocking. I mean, I knew they were arrogant elitists but … damn. They really are outdoing themselves. Their contempt for the average, decent person is — boggling.

  27. Myiq2xu says:

I dunno, that looks like a happy ending to me.

  28. Myiq2xu says:

  29. So this happened…

  30. Wow. Just gobsmacked. This video is at the top of the ABC News article announcing the release of the next 1500 pages of Hillary’s emails.

    • I hope she ends up in damn jail. Maybe she had a scruple once, but she sold every one she had to get on the Obama boat, protect his traitorous ass, and finagle some way to run again.

  31. For those who couldn’t read the excellent article about Trump and “The Rise of the Unprotected” by Noonan at WSJ because of the paywall, I found a non-paywalled link. Every now and then, Peggy nails it.

“Now is seems the attitude of the top half is: You’re on your own. Get with the program, little racist.”

  32. 49erDweet says:

OT: The rumor over on the central coast is one of Klown’s unicorns escaped confinement and had to be recaptured by some chippies. Fact or fiction?

  33. DandyTIger says:

    • It’s amazing to me that none of the people, and especially the pundits on that hashtag, will bend their damn stiff necks for one second to admit the GOP caused this.

I don’t care if you hate Trump. I don’t care if you won’t vote for him. You own your vote. But they are spinning like tops to place the blame for this “revolt” on everything BUT the GOP.

Poor little GOP was just walking down the street trying so hard to serve their voters, and BOOM big meanie Donald out of the blue for no reason but just dumb angry irrationality.

There is not an ounce of humility or mea culpa in these people. None.

      • DandyTIger says:

{{spit take}} Love the poor little GOP bit.🙂 They’re having a full fledged lay on the floor, pound their fists, temper-tantrum. Last thing they can do is look inward.

      • 1539days says:

I hate Trump more than anyone on this board and I know exactly why he’s winning. The GOP and the big donors decided they could work with Jeb and they couldn’t work with Cruz. When Jeb was toast, they tried to put Rubio in his place. Even with Trump, donors would rather work with him than Cruz.

I know a lot of people don’t like Cruz. But he is unwavering, and I like that.

        • Yep. And a lot of Trump’s support is “Screw it, roll the dice” because they simply don’t trust the GOP anymore. That’s likely unfair to Cruz, who really isn’t establishment. But he’s a senator, and this is a year when having any stink of DC on you at all is a negative.

I’m a Cruz supporter, will vote for him in the primary, and wish he had a shot. He’s closest to me on policy.
