Devastating Cruz article on American Spectator:

Except me. Because I don’t much care if it’s true. Given Heidi, I wouldn’t blame Ted. After all, she apparently refuses to live with him. And given Ted, I wouldn’t blame Heidi.

Novelists will sometimes mention some little incident that doesn’t really move the story line, but which nonetheless matters. The little incident that sticks in my mind is the story that she once ran out of the house and was found on the side of the highway by the police, who thought her suicidal. What sticks in my mind is that Ted hadn’t followed her.

From that story I have taken a picture of a mind utterly concentrated in self and entirely devoid of empathy. Which seems to be how his colleagues have found him, everywhere he went.

But I don’t say the story is entirely without interest. First, there are the Trump haters. A Cruz supporter flashes pictures of Melania, and they hate Trump. A story emerges about Cruz’s affairs, and they hate Trump. The story came from Rubio people, but they hate Trump. This is getting to be a bore.

I am tripping out on Heidi and Ted’s little rise to fame stories. interesting shit

      • Lulu says:

That was what I was getting here in Texas like two months ago. People who had worked with or around them DID NOT like them. It was gossipy stuff, some of it sounded like picky silly stuff or jealousy, but the sheer amount of it was noteworthy. They are climbers. They don’t set down roots but just climb, and climb, and climb.

The FEC stuff is a giant red flag. His campaign committee has “decided” not to provide information for the complaints filed. For a “constitutionalist” and his fund raising international banker wife this is very in your face and smacks of rules are for little people. And very sloppy. You would think these two knew how to get their ducks in a row but apparently not.

        • Somebody says:

I posted a link here yesterday about Cruz “overlooking” to file an investment on his financial disclosure. The investment he overlooked to report was in a holding company where he invested $6,000……..and poof it turned into $100,000, reminds me of a cattle futures story.

It seems to me for such a crack attorney, Ted sure accidentally omits reporting a lot of shit. You’d think with a JD from Harvard and a supposedly brilliant mind he could figure out basic paperwork.

          • Lulu says:

It shows his priorities. I tried to cut them some slack but both of them are too high up the food chain to just be goof-off slackers when it comes to this stuff. Like I said “Rules are for little people not them.” is what it smacks of and both of them can be really nasty to anyone who gets in their way or crosses them. Not nice. And yes I think he is a cheater as his old man was one too.

Hypocrisy – a state of denial.
Railing against the opposition bec. of a racy picture that Melania willingly posed for and was paid for her layout. A thrice married man who bragged about sleeping with many women including married women and actually talked about disliking his first wife’s breasts as a reason for divorce.

That’s okay – we’ll just overlooked his past and bad behavior BUT
we’ll carry on and believe a story in the National Enquirer which is owned by Trump best buddy (wonder what he’s been promised by the Donald – I guess favors / paybacks are only bad when they come from the Dem. side and the Clintons) about the lecherous behavior of Cruz. Why bec. every so often they get a story right like Sen. Edwards and his mistress – sorry but that story was written by the obama staff after Edwards has served their purpose and needed to be eliminated from the race. i wouldn’t have care one iota about Edwards and his mistress except he was doing the deed while his beloved wife was dying of cancer.

So if Cruz had 5 lovers – so what – only Donald can get away with that kind of dalliance. If the story is TRUE – (prove it first) – good for him.
    End of Rant

    Happy Easter

    • Anthony says:

So I guess its safe to say that you’re not riding the Trump Train?😉

    • 1539days says:

Naw, it makes much more sense that a Rubio operative leaked the story weeks after Rubio dropped out instead of days after Trump threatened to expose Cruz’s wife.

      • Anthony says:

Except that he never said he would “expose” her. He said “Spill the beans”, as in her ties to the Bush campaign and family, her ties to Goldman Sachs and her hand in donating $500,000 to Carly Fiorina and others (including PACs) to undermine Trump. Let’s not give Donald Trump more credit than he deserves. He has enough flaws without having to make things up

      • Dora says:

This morning on Fox, Kristen Powers said the NE accusations had actually been shopped around by Rubio and Anti Trump groups long before this.

        Sometimes the truth comes out.

      • Somebody says:

One problem with that theory, it takes weeks NOT days to get a publication to print. Nice try though.

    • dm says:

The biggest problem I have with the allegations would be the rank hypocrisy. I’m a bit biased, as I was raised in the Southern Baptist Church – daddy was the minister – and I have witnessed first hand many, many instances of such hypocrisy in the Bible Belt – Kentucky. Trump has never claimed to be anything more than what he is – although he has cozied up to the evangelicals but not really full frontal like Cruz. Having said all that, I was a Cruz supporter. I had to say enough when he gave the interview about Trump supporters – low information and unengaged…tell me, how is that any different than Obama’s bitter clingers remarks? Then, he went on to blame Trump for the Chicago fiasco. The thing I admired most about him was his constitutional background…he could have been a better man, the man I thought he was and come out with the constitutional argument, but he decided to take the low road – again. I’m done with him. He has done nothing but disappoint. Perhaps I held him in too high esteem; perhaps I don’t feel the same about Trump…it’s more what you see is what you get with Trump. And out of the current choices, that’s ok with me.

    • votermom says:

I am still skeptical about the Cruz 5 mistresses scandal.
OTOH, voters that would be turned off by an infidelity scandal would not go to Trump.
From that perspective, it makes sense to suspect that the GOP brokered convention gang are behind the story.

      • Anthony says:

My thoughts exactly. The whole “war of the wives” battle of bullshit is hurting both candidates as well the GOP brand. Funnily enough, I heard Bill Kristol in full derangement mode this morning, suggesting that GOPe operatives and donors are already lobbying to plan on losing the 2016 election and coming back in 2020 with more “ideological purity”. Its amazing how a visceral reaction to a specific person can make otherwise reasonably intelligent people sound nuts

    • Somebody says:

Piper I realize you detest Donald Trump and nobody here is going to criticize or judge you, you are entitled to your own opinions, but you are completely misreading this.

I don’t think anybody here really gives a shit if Cruz had affairs, we are not prudes. You my dear are missing the bigger issue……Cruz is the one that has said he’s running because God wants him to or God told his father and wife or whatever. Ted Cruz himself said “If we awaken and energize the body of Christ– if Christians and people of faith come out and vote our values– we will win and we will turn the country around”. Cruz’s wife said he was running “To show the country the face of God”. Ted’s entire strategy has been based on motivating the evangelical base of the republican party. Another part of his allure is that he’s an outsider fighting the “Washington Cartel”…….ooops it seems he’s part and parcel of said cartel.

THAT is the story, Ted Cruz being hoisted on his own petard. It also fits a larger pattern that has emerged, where Ted says one thing but his actions show something different. A pattern of obfuscation and deception…….in other words Ted is a typical politician. To many of his supporters he wasn’t a typical politician and they’re having a hard time coming to grips with the cold hard facts. The HYPOCRISY — a state of denial, sits squarely in the Cruz camp my dear.

As for Donald Trump having had affairs, yep he sure enough did. He hasn’t tried to deny that. I would like to hope that even you found the super pac attacks against Trump’s wife disgusting. Did you bother to go to any of the links? Did you listen to that bitch Andrea McWilliams? Do you feel that way? Do you think America doesn’t want a foreign born first lady? Melania Trump is/was a super model and those pictures were part of her job. I thought we were in the 21st century, but maybe not.

You did however inadvertently touch on what is probably the source of the National Enquirer story. Cruz like Edwards has served his purpose to the establishment. After WI he’s not going to be much of a vote getter and his presence will pull votes away from Kasich. The name of the establishment game is to keep Trump from reaching 1237, so over the side goes Cruz. It is of no benefit to Trump to plant this story at this point in time. Why? Because with both Cruz and Kasich in the race he continues on the path he’s been on, those two split the anti-Trump vote and he wins each state, resulting in more delegates for him over the long haul.

      • Anthony says:

Didn’t GQ confirm that Jeff Roe, Cruz campaign operative, paid to use the Melania Knauss (now Trump) photo?

      • piper says:

I don’t detest Trump just do not see him as a credible leader and will not hold my nose to vote for anyone this time around – democrat or republican. My 2 choices are no longer in the running and I do not see anyone as credible.
Personally I’m not a prude and could care less about how many nude photos Melania posed for – she actually a very attractive person with a beautiful body.
I’m sick of all the hypocrisy coming from both camps – trump and cruz. I want facts not made-up stories about the candidates or their families. And sadly the media and elites are responsible for the slime and mucho time given to certain candidates to the exclusion of talented leaders. My bp has gone down considerably since I stopped watched any station news programs.

        • Venus says:

Oh, now you’re sick of the hypocrisy from both parties
Changing your story because the facts don’t line up the way you initial said — i.e., the implication that Trump *made* the NE print the story just because he happens to know the CEO.
That’s not how magazines work. NE is a tabloid but they have a legal department.

          • piper says:

            Really Venus,
No one including you knows the truth behind the National Enquirer story nor who set it up – all conjecture until someone owns up – perhaps Marco’s team initially ‘wrote’ the story then decided against it but Mr. Pecker, owner, of the tabloid, is a long term friend of Trump and chose to use to gain favor and help out his good buddy. Whatever……….
Perhaps you can research the GQ cover / spread of Melania – it seems a certain person asked GQ to do the nude photo shoot with a caption “Sex at 30,000 feet Melania Knauss earning her air miles” He also had no outrage when GQ re-ran the nude photo spread a few weeks ago with the reference to the “Future First Lady?

          • Venus says:

You’re deflecting. I didn’t say the NE stories were true or not. I said you are changing the whole tenor of what you initial wrote because you see it doesn’t hold water. Trump has never claimed to be the “face of God” as Cruz has — there is a huge difference. One is a hypocrite; one is not. You’re trying to say they both are. They aren’t.

Pushy Parents Storm Field at Easter Egg Hunt, Take Everything

    • Somebody says:

That reminds me of my neighborhood Easter egg hunt/party. I actually started it and ran the event for 6 years. We have pictures with the Easter Bunny, an egg hunt, crafts and games, then lunch. During lunch we have entertainment like a magician. It’s one of three big family/kids social events our neighborhood does each year.

I’ve dealt with parents like that, thankfully not that many. Every year though there were parents trying to go around the barricades to get a head start for little Johnny or Susie. The very first year a mother showed up an hour and a half after the egg hunt and DEMANDED I hide all the eggs again for her precious. Gosh no wonder I don’t miss any of that!!

As you can all tell – I’m not on the trump train or anyone’s train this time around. I refuse to hold my nose to vote for anyone – democrat or republican – no one currently in the race has the REAL ability to lead and govern. Promises, sound bites and hypes are just fantasies sprinkled with fairy dust. Witness the last 7 years of the unicorns riding on Air Force One.

    • dm says:

Well, November is still a long way off and anything can happen – especially if the GOPe has anything to say about it. Who knows? Maybe someone more appealing to you will end up on the ballot.

Hope you enjoy your Easter. This is the first year in forever that it’s just the two of us…no easter egg hunt, no easter dinner, no yummy desserts. We went out to breakfast…a little weird, but I can live with it.

I got cornered by some adorable Girl Scouts pitching cookies outside Wally Mart yesterday. They were telling me which cookies were vegan and which ones were gluten-free. I said, “But which ones have the most calories? I want the ones with the most calories.” They ran to check the boxes. They were very surprised the vegan and the gluten-free cookies were the highest in calories. I walked away with a box of our favorites, the chocolate covered peanut butter ones. Usually called “sinful” by the customers, only one flavor has fewer calories. I handed Elliesdad the box to hold onto when we got back to the car. He said, “Is it totally impossible for you to turn the teacher in you off?” I guess the answer is no. lol
