    Amen, sister!

And good morning to you! Praise the Lord and pass the bacon.

  2. DeniseVB says:

Welcome to New Yawk Sen.Cruz πŸ™‚

  3. Dora says:

We lost a great one. I saw him perform a few times at Westbury Theater. Not only could this man sing, but he could play that fiddle like nobody else.

    RIP Merle.

    • DeniseVB says:

Merle will be missed, R.I.P. How lucky you got to see him perform live! A little bit of trivia, he was one of the prisoners who watched Johnny Cash play at San Quentin in 1958, which was a big influence in turning his life around. Well almost, you can read about it here: http://www.latimes.com/local/obituaries/la-me-merle-haggard-dies-79-20160406-story.html

      • Dora says:

Thanks. Westbury used to put on some great shows. They had a lot of Country Music which my brother and I both enjoyed. His wife and my Hubby weren’t interested, so whenever one of our favorites was performing my brother and I would go together. Unfortunately, we never saw Johnny Cash. I would have enjoyed seeing him. We did see Willie and he was excellent. He sang for over 2 hours, practically non stop. The audience loved him. Ah, the good old days. πŸ™‚

        • elliesmom says:

My “little” brother and I have a standing date for Jimmy Buffet every time he comes to town. It’s not so much that we think Jimmy can sing, as that we love the party that accompanies the concert. Neither of our spouses like crowds, but we have such a good time together.

          • dm says:

A Buffett concert is definitely a unique experience. I remember thinking gee I must be the only one here who is a first timer…”fins to the left, fins to the right” – or is it the other way around…doesn’t matter as long as you sway your body with your arms raised. Good times.

          • DeniseVB says:

Buffet sells out his concerts here within 3 minutes of being announced. We have a giant Parrothead population in our area πŸ˜€

        • Jadzia says:

I saw Willie back in LA 10-12 years ago. The hits just kept on coming! Lucinda Williams opened. Best. Show. Ever.

    • Venus says:

      My favorite Merle Haggard song:

    • I am 1/2 Okie on my father’s side, and when I was growing up there were about as many Okies in Central California as there were in Oklahoma. Okie From Muskogee was practically an anthem.

      • swanspirit says:

        I loved that gravelly voice.

      • Jadzia says:

Yup. I think you know that my mom grew up in McFarland, not too far from you IIRC. Her foster parents were both Okies. Her foster father rode the rails to get to California! Her foster mother had those chalk drawings that people would leave near the house, “Kind woman here,” because she would let people do odd jobs in exchange for a fried chicken meal in her yard.

  4. DeniseVB says:

    Welcome home Mr.Trump ….

  5. Dora says:

    • DeniseVB says:

Your clip was better, and fuller πŸ˜‰

    • CiscoKid says:

Well done propaganda corp comrades, aka, msm.
Never, ever a long shot of the crowds at Trump rallies, only tight shots.
But that’s ok, the people always, always find the truth.
It selling many of your papers? Not many watching your broadcasts?
Wake the F’ up. Try the truth.

  6. DeniseVB says:

After you decide to trans your gender then realize it’s just not enough (not that there’s anything wrong with it, but my god, get help)…..

    • leslie says:

There isn’t enough help out here for what it is thinking/feeling/doing.

    • jeffhas says:

So are we providing legal protection against discrimination for Dragons?

What’s next, Lizards, Wizards and Grand Wizards?… What could possibly be excluded?… Not that there’s anything wrong with that (😳)

      • DeniseVB says:

LOL, my first thought, s/he will apply to Macy’s, get turned down, voila, discrimination lawsuit! Oh you know it’s coming…. πŸ˜‰

    • DandyTIger says:

Is there a separate bathroom for dragons, or do we have to share? Asking for friend.

      • elliesmom says:

I’m the only woman in the neighborhood who walks the dog. Around here it’s a guy thing. So every morning I walk to the beach and hang out with the guys while Ellie plays with the other dogs. There are no bathroom facilities at the beach, and sometimes playtime gets cut short if someone needs to go home. We got to talking about gender and bathrooms, and I suggested the least expensive option for public areas would be to remove all of the urinals from men’s rooms. If every bathroom had floor to ceiling bathroom stalls, it would be easy to make all bathrooms unisex. Who cares if someone watches you washing your hands or touching up some makeup? The guys were quite adamant about not losing their urinals. They thought it would make men have to wait in line to use a bathroom like woman often do. It was refreshing to see the rejection isn’t ll one-sided.

  7. DeniseVB says:

Meanwhile, over on the D Team……

    • leslie says:

I wonder if they’ll also start measuring hands and feet and calling Debbie What’serschultz to make the other one stop. WATBs

  8. DeniseVB says:

Oh My, it doesn’t get better for Ted, but it’s the NYDN, they hate everybody to the right of Ghandi ….

  9. Dora says:

  10. DeniseVB says:

At least the special snowflakes share their offensive triggers across party lines. It would be a shame to miss her speech. How racist…..

    • elliesmom says:

I say it’s time to just mail the diplomas out.

    • dm says:

I was deeply embarrassed and ashamed when Hopkins did that to Carson. That was the year he did the breakfast thing, criticizing Obama. He was retiring and was initially to be the main speaker at graduation. Here is a black man, coming from a disadvantaged background, who had not only succeeded, but became head of his department, performing ground breaking surgeries along the way. I emailed him an apology and felt the university made a terrible decision. But Hopkins is all about the ‘diversity”, don’t ya’ know…except when it isn’t.

      • jeffhas says:

…. And yet I wonder if they’ll let ‘Dragons’ give a commencement speech – they need protection and all (see upthread).

      • DeniseVB says:

I remember that, another missed opportunity for all to hear Carson speak. His Prayer Breakfast speech will go down with the great speeches, he’s got an incredible story and was absolutely right about Obama. For Trump to have his endorsement is yuuuge in my book ❀

      • swanspirit says:

Hopkins disgraced itself, to have done that to him. They are supposed to be neutral in regard to politics. They give, and have given, special treatment to patients from Arab countries for decades Fucking hypocrites.

  11. DeniseVB says:

OH NOES in 484 years! I’m more concerned about humans being wiped out before then 😦

    • elliesmom says:

At one time Antarctica was home to lush plants and dinosaurs. But humans turned it into a frigid ice sheet. Wait. There were no humans yet. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/03/0309_040309_polardinos.html

    • DandyTIger says:

Of course all the models have been 100% wrong since they started doing them. Antarctica has been adding ice of late. But I’m sure they got this one right. /s

      • blowme0bama says:

Exactly. As I’ve long said, weather models based upon conditions they CAN observe can not accurately predict tomorrow’s temperature within 5 degrees. What makes anyone think climate models based upon computer generated projections utilized as data can predict temperature 40 years from now? It is in-fucking-sane.

        • DeniseVB says:

And hurricanes. All the info fed to those models do not tell us a thing until about 12 hours away or when the “Cone of Death” narrows significantly, and the eye might wobble left or right of that.

          • swanspirit says:

Right. We were supposed to have increased numbers of hurricane s, with increased intensity. The opposite happened.

          • blowme0bama says:

That’s exactly right. Living on the Gulf Coast, I’m very familiar with watching those models vs actual track. About 12 hours is right. Along the northern gulf coast, they always veer to the right of track within the last 3-4 hours before landfall as well.

          • leslie says:

Yes. A couple days ago, there was a video (on local news) that showed a tornado moving past and away from the person making the film. Suddenly, it turned completely around, changed course and flew right into the spot where the man saw standing. It tore apart the house and ultimately buried the man – and his wife. She did not survive.
The video was less than 60 seconds long.

        • 49erDweet says:

Especially when the data has been “massaged” just the teeniest bit so as not to offend special snowflakes.

      • DandyTIger says:

The real test for these models is for them to predict the past accurately. They’ve all failed miserably. Which shows their models are all crap. Not surprising as climate is incredibly complicated and we really don’t know that much yet.

  12. DeniseVB says:

Holy chit … this admiral nails Obama’s anti-American arse to the wall. Supposedly a “leaked” video from a private conference. Adm Lyons starts out blaming every administration since Carter for the current foreign policy failures and concludes by explaining Islam is a political movement under the guise of religion …. and Obama is promoting it here. Of course we knew that all along, and why we NEED DJT to shake things up, or nothing will change 😦

    • jeffhas says:

Well that was probably the best 3+ minutes I’ve spent…. That should be forwarded all around.

      • Lulu says:

“every administration since Carter” has bought in to the myth that Islam is a spiritual or philosophical ideology. It isn’t. It never has been. It is a political and economic system based upon conquest, murder, enslavement, lies, and to use a current term “rent seeking”. Top down dehumanization of everyone not in control at the highest levels, it is about accumulating power and wealth. It attracts sociopaths. It was the original form of fascism. They literally hate everyone who is not at the top in control which often includes self loathing. Possibly the greatest blight on human history for murder, mayhem, war, and slavery.

  13. DeniseVB says:

I honestly think there is no reason for this story other than fire that principal. Never, ever tell a parent you know what’s best for their child …….

  14. DeniseVB says:

This is either good or bad news for Star Wars nerds, 100 more films planned by Disney? This one is coming out this December …. oy, vey …..

  16. DeniseVB says:

I noticed the *crickets* too. Imagine if the comment was directed at Hillary?

    • lyn says:

Feminists also have no problem with Muslim rapists. It’s disgusting. Lulu said it best above when she wrote that Islam promotes self-loathing.

          • leslie says:

I was talking to my dd last week about the “white privilege” bs. I suggested that she stop hating on herself and stop feeling guilty of her successes. I reminded her that she didn’t get where she is today because she is white, but because she worked damn hard. I also reminded her that many, if not most, of her family members and relations did not have the same kind of success she had. I also reminded her that they/we are white, too. She needs these pep talks periodically. Especially when she sees so many POC and BLM people making noises about that *privilege* of hers. We talked about whether successful POC feel guilty. She doesn’t know any who do. Neither do I. When I asked her if she wanted to just give up her new home and her good job and the few perks she does have so that the screamers and haters can have one less target, she sees how wrong-headed this guilt really is.
I’m gonna remind her of that last sentence of yours:

“The people with the privilege and supremacy have all the money, and that’s colorblind.”

        • taw46 says:

          Western civilization is doomed.

          • blowme0bama says:

It is. 40+ years of brainwashing us to hate ourselves by the media and academia. Absolutely doomed. It’s racist and hateful to defend your culture (unless you’re non-European, of course).

          • lyn says:

^This^ That’s why I laugh at the white privilege and white supremacy crap. It’s another ploy to make people hate themselves. I love myself and my country. The people with the privilege and supremacy have all the money, and that’s colorblind.

      • DeniseVB says:

Slut Walkers should take their campaigns to the mosques. Oh wait ….

    • Anthony says:

Pair that with the ability for Diebold to alter votes remotely, and I’m ready to just give up…

      • blowme0bama says:

They’re about to leave us no choice. This is serious.

        • taw46 says:

They have overwhelmed us with their tyranny in all Federal agencies. I can’t even keep up with it anymore. And sadly, a large number of Americans don’t even know a small amount of what has been happening these last 7+ years.

          • blowme0bama says:

The lying media is every bit as responsible for covering up on behalf of Teh Precious as he is for pulling this shit. They need to be sacked too.

That’s why “open up the libel laws” (even though a President alone can’t do that), sounds like a good idea.

        • Anthony says:

There is another choice – and that would be a full out revolt. Don’t underestimate what can happen. The Uniparty is on notice, and arrogant enough to believe they have the upper hand.

  17. mothy67 says:

Holy shit I am up to season 4 of Game of Thrones. The Reek storyline is terrifying. Hannibal Lecter terrifying.

  18. DeniseVB says:

LOLz, Hillary takes the subway ! I’m sure my fellow New Yorkers will agree that this does not convince me she’s just like me!

  20. taw46 says:

“The United States issues twice as many green cards to migrants from Muslim-majority countries than from Europe, adding to a Middle Eastern migrant population in the country that is one of the fastest growing demographics.

From 2009 to 2013, the U.S. issued 680,000 green cards to migrants from Muslim countries, more than twice the approximately 270,000 green cards issued to migrants from European countries. Green cards entitle migrants to legal permanent residency in the country and work authorization, federal benefits, and the chance to apply for citizenship.”

  21. Anthony says:

“The Chalkening” continues to horrify snowflakes

  22. DeniseVB says:

Dennis Miller’s obscure references usually whoosh right over my head, but I laughed at this……

  23. Dora says:

I mentioned above that the man could play a mean fiddle!

  24. DeniseVB says:

Trigger warning. Quick, to your safe spaces now! (LOL!)

  27. Dora says:

My congressman made me so happy with these remarks, that I might even vote for him again. πŸ™‚

Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.) blasted Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz on Thursday, saying anyone who votes for him in the upcoming New York primary is crazy.

  29. John Denney says:

Obama wants to cut off funds to North Carolina over bathroom policy.

Two can play that game. Maybe the people of that state should deposit their Fed tax payments in a state escrow fund which the state can use in lieu of Fed funds.

    • leslie says:

Bronco is here in Chicago today. Because of the weather, he is unable to use Marine 1 from O’Hare to UofChicago. Now there are “rolling” police barricades on major roads (the expressways and Lake Shore Drive). I was on my way home from the eye MD, and had to pull off the road while police cars proceeded to drive past without sirens, but lights were flashing. No one could figure out what to do, because it was raining and snowing, and the cops who stopped traffic at intersections wouldn’t get out of their cars to direct traffic. I think they are tired of bronco’s sh*t as well.

      • DeniseVB says:

The Godfather of Climate Change couldn’t have gotten a weather prediction and rescheduled that trip which doesn’t sound very important anyhow, or teleconference ? Not thinking of the citizens of Chicago being inconvenienced by bad weather is pretty crappy of him. Or his flight crew and security detail ?

I would have avoided it altogether because if the words “slight chance of snow” even shows up in a forecast, I clear my calendar from the day before to 3 days after πŸ˜€

        • leslie says:

He is here to lobby at the UofChicago on behalf of his SCOTUS nominee. Why at the University?? Darned if I know. They aren’t the people he has to convince. Are they?

          • DeniseVB says:

He should have met them at the O’Hare airport. Surely there’s a conference room they could have used. Why he had to fly to Chicago to speak to his choir still seems like a waste of his time and our money. Probably something more sinister going on …. hey, it’s Chicago ! Any protesters greet him? Didn’t think so, Chi-town is his safe space πŸ˜€

          • Jadzia says:

Does he still own that house up on 51st or Kenwood or wherever it is (wasn’t it right by KAM Beth Israel)? Maybe selling it?

        • taw46 says:

The G of CC wants all to bow before him. He doesn’t care about their inconvenience. He does it because he can.

          • DeniseVB says:

It’s what bugged me about Hillary’s subway ride and putting commuters to great inconvenience as if they aren’t already with lines shutting down for months long maintenance repairs. I’m sure the platform was cleared and a car emptied for her royal ride amongst her people. Such b.s. She won’t be different from Obama at all. At least DJT is honest with hey, I’m rich, so what, want to fly in my helicopter kids sort of way πŸ™‚

    • DandyTIger says:

Not what the federal government should be doing of course. But hey, as long as they don’t mind Republican’s doing it to left states for their own reasons, let’s jump into that war.

    • DeniseVB says:

I have a feeling LGBT is never going to be happy with anything and I think Obama’s trying to start a civil war. I’m glad I’m on the side with the guns πŸ˜‰

  30. Somebody says:

Thank goodness it’s Thursday! That means tomorrow is Friday!!!! Also, today hopefully was the last day I had to do story time for toddlers at the local library……hallelujah!!!

I hadn’t mentioned it here, but back at the end of February I got roped into taking over story time because the librarian had to go out on medical leave. It all started with my teen who had to do a community service project for her US Government class. She chose early childhood literacy for her topic. We made arrangements for her to do some things and share some information at story time……easy, peasy……one time thing……or so we thought.

The day we arrived she was told congratulations you’ve been selected as one of the official library volunteers (there are only two per year). We were thrilled because it’s an easy way she can get her required volunteer hours taken care of. In order to qualify for the lottery scholarship you need 100 hours of community service, winning! We were actually surprised they picked her up in essence mid year when they already have two volunteers, but those volunteers are seniors and their service will end in May. She’s an official volunteer for however long she desires, which will be until she reaches her required hours I’m sure. She’s so limited physically that some opportunities for community service won’t work for her, working at the library is perfect.

There was a catch though, that first day the librarian announces she’s going out on extended medical leave and unless an adult took over story time she was going to cancel it until next school year. Amazingly not a single hand went up to volunteer (eye roll)……my teen looked at me with puppy dog eyes…..please mom, so I raised my hand.

Good news is I’ve been a major hit, bad news is attendance has more than doubled. Soooo although I had the kids rapt with attention the past few weeks, this week it was just a few too many kids. It wasn’t a complete disaster, but not as orderly as I prefer. The regular librarian couldn’t keep the smaller group focused so I’m not complaining, but I’m glad I’m done! Well I hope I’m done, apparently this librarian is a short timer about to retire and I’ve gotten snickers about her return. This is a small town I’ll find her house and drag her to story time!!! Another upside…..if she’s retiring perhaps a job for my eldest daughter…..HA, she’s going to leave a fortune 50 company and take a pay cut to move back home……LOLOLOLOL!

    • DeniseVB says:

Love the idea of community service, exposes the kids to various life experiences as well as give them something to put down on those college applications. πŸ™‚ You sound like a fun reader to the little ones, no wonder your audience exploded !

    • taw46 says:

Not surprised you were a hit, you are a hit here πŸ˜‰. Sounds like you had fun.
