WTF is Wrong with the New York Times Editorial Board?

You don’t have to answer that. It’s a rhetorical question.

So this morning I woke up to find the entire NYT Editorial Board lined up against Donald Trump. In an article click-baited with the headline Mr. Trump Reopens the Wounds of a Hate Crime, they spewed venom and invective because Mr. Trump had the temerity to campaign at all, but especially in a neighborhood that had seen a crime against an undocumented alien some 8 years ago.

Donald Trump is scheduled to speak at a Republican Party fund-raiser on Thursday in Patchogue, a village on the south shore of Long Island, about 60 miles from Manhattan.

This is a wretched development, a disgraceful provocation by the Suffolk County Republicans and their chairman, John Jay LaValle, who invited him.

There is no place that should welcome Mr. Trump’s politics, but the choice of Patchogue is particularly repellent. Patchogue is where Marcelo Lucero, an Ecuadorean immigrant, was fatally stabbed in 2008 by a white teenager, one of a marauding gang of high school boys who had made a nighttime sport of assaulting Latino men. The Republicans will be toasting Mr. Trump in a dance hall called the Emporium, on the same street as the crime scene, steps away from where Mr. Lucero fell.

This is how tropes are built. It’s also an indication that they are severely rattled by something they aren’t saying in the article. The MSM, and especially the NYT does not usually draw such stark, straight lines directly to the object of their vitriol, and they usually try to offer a veneer of reasoning. Here they just throw up a one-line intro, and then basically start shrieking TRUMP HATES LATINOS! HE WANTS YOU DEAD!

Are they rattled because Trump is likely to get over 50% in New York, thus taking all the delegates? Are they rattled because Bernie is competitive with Hillary in NY and gaining on her in California? Is it because somebody was too cute by half in prompting Trump to run, thinking he’d be the perfect adversarial foil, and now internals show he might actually win if allowed to be the GOP candidate? Who knows? Probably some combination of all of the above, plus some other spooky shit we don’t know about. The New York pearl-clutchers are the worst. Always have been.

Fuck this shit. #GoTrump.

This is an open thread.

  1. All the shit they’ve thrown, and they’re still spooked. Behind the scenes must be some kind of show…

    • nerdle says:

I wish I could be a piece of furniture in one of those rooms–right-wing or left–when they call code red and hold meetings about Trump. I really want to know the things they say and also see who the players are

      • DeniseVB says:

I learned a secret that if Politico writes a negative story on Trump, it’s been leaked to them by the RNC.

Hopefully all these “media” people, or whatever they call themselves these days. At least Ru-Pravda is honest since we know is gov. run – our media is run by the gov AND corporations AND conservative bloggers we should trust – but I digress, our media sucks.

  2. DeniseVB says:

I’m not worried, RudyG is a GOD in NYC and his endorsement trumps anything the NYT can puke out. Though the hate is unusually vile this season, never seen anything like that, well, except when Keith Olbermann wanted to have Hillary beaten up in a closet til she dropped out in 2008. 😛

    • Right? Oh, and I forgot to mention they bedazzled the whole article with the image of the immigrant family in pain, just to provoke the heartstrings. They don’t usually post photos with editorials…

      • Somebody says:

I’m curious how many murders have been committed in that town since 2008? Any other stabbings? Have any illegals committed crimes there? Have there been any more Latino victims or was that a one off thing. Was the motive of the murder cited racial??

I just find it odd that they reach back 8 years and my instincts say they had to go back that far to find a crime to fit their narrative. Which means racial crimes are NOT an epidemic there.

    • Constance says:

I don’t see the Obama/Olberman style of Democrat ever supporting Hillary even if she is allowed to win the Democrat nomination. But I do see a bunch of stupid sappy Democrat women, who thought it would be Hillary’s turn next if they just let the black man go first,in 2008, falling in line and voting for Bernie. After all, if they don’t vote Democrat a bunch of menopausal women might have their abortion rights taken away by Republicans!

  3. Dora says:

It’s only a rumor, but people did say things would change once Manafort came on board.

I think I could live with Rubio on the ticket. He’s be so much better than Lyin’ Cruz. Of course, it’s not up to me. That’s just my opinion. 🙂

Rumor: Rubio in Talks to Give His 172 Delegates to Trump?

    • swanspirit says:

That would be a game changer for Trump and Rubio. I don’t think Rubio would be on the ticket, but it might give him a spot in the administration.

    • DandyTIger says:

I kind of think he would put him on the ticket for that. It would ensure the nomination on the first ballot, and that’s worth a lot.

    • Somebody says:

Well you all know I’m not a fan of Rubio, but I can clearly see the advantages for Trump in selecting him.
      A) He’s young and Trump needs an emissary to the younger generation
      B) He’s Latino
      C) He’s the establishment’s darling, the “new face” of the RNC
      D) He’s from FL, but I don’t think Trump needs him to carry FL
      E) The obvious he comes with a nice cache of delegates
      F) He’s considered by the MSM to be a foreign policy “expert”

I still have issues with Rubio over gang of 8 and H1B visas. I am going to assume he won’t hold sway with Trump on those issues. I’m also going to assume should Trump get elected and re-elected the immigration issues will have been resolved and the border secure, also hopefully strong restrictions placed on foreign workers on various visas. That doesn’t mean Rubio couldn’t reverse a lot of it should he find himself in the oval office 8 years down the line……but hopefully he would have had enough time as Trump’s apprentice to see things differently.

I do see where the selection of Rubio would work as a unifying force within the party. I also see that he could really help out not only with party unity, but with younger voters and Latino voters. I assume the people that think Rubio is a foreign policy “expert” will feel more comfortable with him having a voice in the administration. If he were to be VP he certainly has experience as FL Speaker of the House with running a legislative body and VP is technically head of the senate.

I don’t know how he’ll past all of his con man comments, but stranger things have happened. I don’t fully trust Rubio, but I presume Trump will be cautious. I wonder if he’s still going to call him Lil Marco?

      • Myiq2xu™ says:

If Trump is gonna get the nomination and have a shot at winning in November, he will have to cut a deal with the GOPe that will include one of theirs as a running mate. They will want some Cabinet picks as well.

        • Constance says:

I would advise the GOPe to get that deal in writing…unless that is the sort of thing you don’t write down, and in that case don’t hold your breath until “the deal” happens.

  4. Dora says:

    Why bother having elections?

    Trump’s getting trounced in Indiana

The state hasn’t even voted and convention delegates are already lined up against the front-runner.

    • The guy they quote is running for the 4th district, one of the richest parts of the states. It’s where the GOPe live. One of the primary reasons I like Trump is that he scares the shit out of people with money and influence. I know he has money and influence, and will likely use if for his own gain before he uses it for mine, but I just want the current PTB to get sucker-punched for once.

  5. 49erDweet says:

It was more a whine than an editorial, so different rules.

    • DeniseVB says:

It was an agenda, and a very bad one at that. NYT is getting too obvious they want to help destroy our country, otherwise, their headlines would be bleeding Obama everyday.

  6. Venus says:

“The New York Times — it’s a terrible paper.” ~ Donald J. Trump.

That’s why I like Trump — he fucking tells the truth about the MSM and every time they take a snipe at him, he tells the truth some more.

  7. Myiq2xu™ says:

The whole town should have been burned down, and the ground around it salted so that nothing would ever grow there again. Its name should have been stricken from all records.

Go to Joe Allen after a show. I worked there. Pre theater booked up after not hsually a problem. Ten years after I worked there my sister and cousin visited. We had dinner in between shows Patti Lupone walked over and introduced herself. They didn’t really know who she was. Rosie O’Donnell bought us round. Paul Rudd told my sister she had the most beautiful eyes. I worked there for about a year. Money was great. I got fired because I slept thru a lunch shift by a few days. I took every person that ever visited me there. I don’t abuse but I have never gotten a check.
I was Sunday manager. Every week I boxed up 10 boxes of food. Joe to this day feeds the Hell’s Angels. So do most of the places on Restaurant Row.
1966 Joe opened a little bar on 46th between 8th and 9th. His friends were struggling actors. He ran tabs. They were loyal. Al Pacino still has a tab.
There is a flop wall. Shows that closed in less thaj a week have posters on the wall.
Joe is a really good guy. One of the guys I worked with had full blown AIDS. He chose to go out on hospice. Had not talked to his family in years. Joe put up the entire family in the briwnstone above the bar for weeks. He covered all their expenses.
He owns Joe Allen Ny Joe Allen London, Joe Allen Paris, Orso Ny and more. Best boss ever. My nephew died mid shift. I had to fly to Pittsburgh. He covered my rent.
Its a must for Theater fans

Carlos Slim is the NYT’s owner. Not just the paper’s owner but the EMPLOYEE’s owner who wrote this drivel for him and his pals that feed on Mexico like a giant leech. Slim, Vincente Fox, et al make their money being crooks in Mexico. They get to be crooks, like the cartel freaks, because they export their social and economic pressures to the US. The entire Mexican legal, economic, and social setup is parasitic. Their social safety net is go to the US or send one of your kids to send money home. Prison’s too full, send them El Norte to commit murder and mayhem and Texas taxpayers will incarcerate them for Mexico because Mexico care not who dies or is ruined in the US as long at they don’t have to pay for it or the loser who kills someone. And they dare to virtue signal over the death penalty while Mexican teenagers are being beheaded in Mexico by cartel monsters who they never catch.

Globalism is alive and well in Mexico. Only the very top has any money and every level of their society is set up to serve them. It is horribly corrupt and violent, filthy and backward and the NYT is their low paid servant groveling for crumbs. This was supposed to be the year of sanctifying the status of the Hispanic in the uni-party with bullshit and propaganda. Donald Trump blew that shit UP and is saying what needs to be said about the rotten Mexican elite and government.

“Let me first start with the known declaration by the GOP establishment to deny Donald Trump the nomination at all costs. Just take a look at the smirk on Reince Priebus’s face when the subject is broached. With the whole apparatus on the attack, it is a wonder Trump is doing as well as he is. Now, add to this the coverage by pundits. They scrutinize at the behest of the establishment in order to do everything to take Trump down.”

I thought I was the only one who noted the “smirk on Reince Pribus’s face”. Every time I se him on tv (less and less lately because I’ve stopped watching) I want to smack that smirk straight off his puss. Arrogant f*ck. I’m boiling mad right now. The Dems got away with it in 2008 and now the GOPe is following suit. Where is the UNITY Party?

  14. DeniseVB says:

Who knew? Kentucky Derby represents “genocide” and “police brutality”, so #BLM wants a party cancelled at Dartmouth ? I’m getting so sick of those whiny freaks and Bill Clinton was right, wish he didn’t walk it back.

  17. mothy67 says:

Suffolk County has many halfway houses. I had the distinct pleasure of being sentenced to one in Ronkonkoma. It is such a huge scam. 9 people in a two bedroom house charging welfare 287(2000)/mo. Everything is converted into a bedroom. A huge van picks up two houses and charges medicaid for the drive round trip is/was 10 per person. That was 190 a day for twenty minutes of a drive. Go to a center there are three counselors. They have certificates from community colleges. They charge 498/day per person. The owners had two sites. Easily 250. CHARGING ALMOST 500/DAY. A judge sent me there because I was sarcastic. I had to have a paying job. I had had too much income to be on welfare. So I worked at the Suffolk County Welfare office. I was allowed to leave treatment at noon to go to work. I rode a bike but they still billed for my van ride. I got no paycheck which was fine and I did enjoy my job. They had a three year back log of filing emergency housing paper work. Has to be a hard copy for everything. Two weeks I had it all done. So I got moved into actual processing. I was not allowed to meet face to face with clients, but I did all the work. When the weather turns NY gets flooded with two hots and a cot. People check into rehab and then ride out winter in a halfway house. New York state made it mandatory to provide emergency housing. An awful two bedroom home starts at 500,000 in Suffolk. People know go to rich neighborhoods with plastic bags of clothes and you will be housed. It is such a scam you cannot ask if they are legal.
I learned a lot living in a house with 8 men who had spent decades in prison and a few kids that were so far from hitting a bottom. One young kid had been tossed around in prison. He was so angry. He refused to shower or change his socks. He had been Ss raped hundreds of times. He tattoed his body everywhere and got fucked for cash. He was so young so was I but he made an effort to smell. 12 steps were not going to help him. He took his life three weeks after he got out.
No shame. On the weekends I collected cans on my bike. I could make 200 dollars. I found the kids party spots.
4000 cans on a Sunday morning was so easy.
Thing is why was that boy from Guatemala there. My halfway house was next to a small family. The guys I lived with were terrible people. Maybe you bought the house next door feeling liberal, but once she see the animals out of the cage you sing another tune. One Sunday it snowed. I shoveled and did the neighbors as well. Guy was all Igenerous of spirit and apologized for judging. I said no you ass be 10000 times morevon guard. Most of us are assholes. I tried to gulf with him once. Still friends
I am so sick of misplaced guilt by cock suckers in the media. Grow up. I am a loose canon. I did time at rehab and I have been in the looney bin. I can nurture a throw away kid. She again got straight A’s. She is writing songs. She had to write a story for PSSAs– state standardized tests and the school administrator asked if he could submit it to the state. Odds of me and a child. It’s not so hard. From my perspective all I can see is that she knows she matters. Believe it or not some kids don’t get that. A woman I know from Philly days was the head of child psychology at Stanford. She’s an idiot. Focuses on child anxiety. Toss off kids gotta learn to deal. My brat has a purple belt. She is good her bff also has same belt. Two years of thrice a week training. Well two mothers decided to start. Kids are years behind. You have to work. Well the mothers decidedvto take their kids to the same teacher but 45 minutes away because they didn’t want their daughters feeling less than. What kind of life are you setting them up for

Story about the black generation gap. I was just telling hubby yesterday that there was a breakdown in the black vote at about age 40ish, with older voters supporting Hillary and younger ones supporting Bernie. This gap is not just with POC. It’s across demographics. You could call it The Monica Line.

They have PSSA tests for the next two weeks. State exams. They are a yuuge deal. Breakfast and lunch are free to all students. Letters home and voice mails about sleep.
Cranky pants went to her teacher and decided to ask if she could make stress balls. We tried with elmers, ballooon sand rice flour. I am not crafty. So we went to Walmart, kmart, target. Walgreens had them but 7.99 for one. Went by Party City on a caprice I walked in and said do you have stress balls. Guy said no but we have mini sports balls that are the same thing. I bought 38.
I had to have a long chat with little miss sunset about making promises. I am in awe that she took the initiative to offer stress balls to her class. I have no idea how she knows what a stress ball is. Proud that she looked at her classmates and wanted to do something. . The tykes have so much pressure. I never took tests like that. Monday thru Thursday its hard core tests. Friday its wear pjs and sleep on the floor. Monday thru Wednesday math PSSAs. Thursday is a play day and Friday is spring carnival.
I think its insane. So much pressure on a 9 year olds. My pup is 9. Youngest in 4th gradebut she gets a lot of stimulus. We are reading Jane Eyre together aloud. She hates it. I told her so did I every fucking page. Book was torture. I dreaded that evil dry boring tome, but I ended up writing my senior thesis comparing Jane Eyre to Sethe from Beloved.
Anyhow my brat gets different exposure. Not many suburban kids watch subtitled films. I was so thrilled when she loved My Life as a Dog. Not only did she love it she had her friends watch it on a sleep over. They loved it.
The little girl that told everyone what fucking is is very quick. She only gets negative attention. She is a section 8 kid. Poor kid has to act out to verify she exists. She is angry.
I so resent the thunder from the left that it is poverty. No teach your kid she matters. That takes no money. My brat has had two years of swim lessons. I do not take my eyes off her at the pool. I see parents with toddlers on their phone texting, ignoring their kids.
I take annoying to lunch at the Cathedral of Learning at Pitt we go to the museum. I want her to believe in herself.
I think these standardized tests are bullshit. Pup scored very high, Arianna did not. She is smart. I would prefer she not describe her mother’s boyfriends cock to da pup. But unless I want to live in Glenn Beck world I have to accept 9 year olds know about sex. Soooo not comfortable.
My kid is doing very well at school she got a break. Her mom lives in a trailer. Was a cutter. Has two other kids. Her husband says he has lime disease. They live on 700/month SSI
Her parents have not called since Easter
I am against gay people creating a kid but I think a human can nourish a child. My baby could be a welfare slug. Instead she is head engineer, on the calculas math team, plays flute and piano, purple belt, mvp so many times. at softball I need to buy a new trophy case. Last summer there was supposed to be a dance performance at the Catholic Church. Summer no one showed up but my brat. She said she was scared. I said its fine but YOU have to tell her you are not dancing. Princess got up and danced alone. Her teacher was in tears.
The brat matters to me. She is so poor Flooding a school with government money does not will not change anything. Kids need to know they matter. It is that simple. Look at Ben Carson his shit poor mom let her children know they meant something.

DONALD J. TRUMP’S VISION for the future of our nation is as deeply disturbing as it is profoundly un-American.

It is easy to find historical antecedents. The rise of demagogic strongmen is an all too common phenomenon on our small planet. And what marks each of those dark episodes is a failure to fathom where a leader’s vision leads, to carry rhetoric to its logical conclusion. The satirical front page of this section attempts to do just that, to envision what America looks like with Trump in the White House.
