Happy Mom’s Day!

I bought my mom some lottery scratchers and a box of that fancy wine she likes. Later on I’ll go over and watch the Giants game with her.

Today is also the birthday of my artistic middle-child. He was born on Mother’s Day 33 years ago. He takes after me more than the other two. He is my prodigal son.

His friends call him "Monkey"

Health tip for the day. I stopped using the watery stuff years ago. Now it’s real milk and real yogurt and real cheese. Real butter too. Natural is so much better.

Stop worrying about getting fat and ditch your skim milk forever

And happy birthday to Prodigal Klown-Son!

It’s my younger brother’s birthday, too. He was born on Mother’s Day 56 years ago. My mom got lots of free stuff.

Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms !!! I hope you have a fantastic day!!! 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I was born on Mother’s Day too, and every 11 years it cycles back onto Mothers Day, but not this year,

My brother was born on Mother’s Day too! LOL. He is an artist also as well as an architect and looked like my mom who was the artist-type and gorgeous. He is an asshole! When he would suck up and remind my parents he was born on Mother’s Day (why?) my dad would say “Yeah, well, Lulu was born on Easter which beats Mother’s Day.”

  8. DeniseVB says:

Happy Day TCH for whatever you’re celebrating today ! ❤

Scrolling through the newsfeeds I see so many loving sentiments, vintage photos of beautiful young moms, lovely cyber flowers and cards ….. then I get to my dd, who posted on my timeline a cartoon of a wire hanger swinging Mommy Dearest with that infamous "No more wire hangers" Happy Mother's Day. Sigh, the girl version of Kylo Ren 😀

  13. CiscoKid says:

To those that are still blessed with their Mom’s still here, treat them with love, respect and care.
I know I know that doesn’t need to be said, but just for the record.
Lost my Mom over 35 years ago to cancer, and when I foul up, I wish she was here so I could ask, Ma what should I do?
    Confession time.
I wasn’t the greatest son, ran with a gang, till I knew better. Under age drinking, not a very good student.
When I thought the world was against me, or I was in trouble, police or school, Mom would always, always be there with a hug and a kiss, “Its going to be ok Cisco, you’ll be fine, things will work out”
Ya’ know something? She was right, as all Mom’s are.
Joined the Army, went to college on the GI Bill, got a little Degree.
Did 35 years in Law Enforcement and lived/survived to retire.
Not bragging, just saying, she was right, things did work out.
Didn’t mean to get long winded.
See y’all tomorrow. Stay safe, take care.

I hope Trump changes the platform.

    • DandyTIger says:

Me too. I understand these platforms are supposed to make the extremes of each side feel included. But come on, the extremes of each party are actually insane.

    • Underwhelmed says:

Aborting a child because it’s inconvenient is one thing – in my view, wicked. But forcing a woman – or a young girl – to continue a pregnancy that came about because of incest or rape, or because she might die if she carries to term – is to me equally wicked. Abortion is the ending of a human life, yes — but not everything is murder. Justifiable homicide is a legal category for a reason. No less tragic, but sometimes – in rare cases – the lesser of two evils. Abortion on demand is a terrible, amoral thing. But so is forcing a 12 year old child to have a baby because she was raped, which happened somewhere in South America. That makes us no better than ISIS and it’s that rigid stand that gives the amoral left ammunition.

      • swanspirit says:

The mortality rate for teen pregnancy is high enough to justify an abortion for teens on the basis of risk to the life of the mother. Not to mention that there is probably already rape involved, and possibly even incest.

        • elliesmom says:

I could support abortion in cases of rape, incest, risk of life to the mother, and when the patient is a minor. As long as the rape or incest is reported to the police by mandate, the mother’s life is realistically at risk, and the minor accepts passive birth control until she’s 18. By all means let’s protect women from forcible or life threatening pregnancy. At the same time, let’s stop the wholesale slaughter of unborn babies.

          • Underwhelmed says:

Totally. Check and balances, and all triple checked. Because the slippery slope slide to the open loathing for unborn children, as demonstrated so often by the pro choice crowd, is hideous. The end of their road is Goswell and his chop shop. Their utter insanity of saying — if you want it then it’s a baby, if you don’t then it’s a clump of cells just like snot — makes me shudder.

    • swanspirit says:

Sarah, you are wrong on this. I hope he changes the platform. It is time.

  15. DeniseVB says:

    True story 😉

  16. Dora says:

    Or What?

    • DandyTIger says:

Sadly they probably will. Liberalism/Socialism by definition has sheep for followers. Would be nice to see some spirit in that corrupt party for a change though.

    • WMCB says:

I myself want deals like: We’ll accede to upping the minimum wage, in return for support on the wall and curbing those excessive H1b workers.

    • SHV says:

“Roll over” is the Uni-parties street theater for the public. The back scratching and payoffs are worked out behind closed doors. The Dems “rolled over” for the Bush/Cheney proto-police state while Polosi whined in public about how the Dem majority wasn’t large enough. Rethugs same song different verse. Ryan is the poster child for the corruption and systemic rot.

      • WMCB says:

Yup. For all our complaints about deal-making in DC, there is no actual, real, hardball negotiating going on.

I myself am willing to concede some things, IF I know it’s an actual deal, not Kabuki.

        • DeniseVB says:

That’s one of the reasons I’m rooting for Gingrich for VP. He’s also charismatic, unafraid of the media and has the experience in negotiating with an “enemy”. (sorry Dems 😉 )

    • votermom says:

Cute pic, but I seriously doubt that “eat half”‘is in any ancient proverb of a mountain peoples, unless it’s “eat half and save the rest for tomorrow”‘because all mountain people have good reason to be thrifty.

      • lyn says:

😀 Mice live longer when they eat less calories.

      • DeniseVB says:

I read it as “burn off more than you consume” ? Then again there’s those diets of the people in Russian mountain villages that drink quarts of vodka a day and live to 100, I’m sure that’s more due to a stress free lifestyle 😀

        • votermom says:

I’m sure it’s good advice BUT it’s modern advice. I call BS on it being from any ancient proverb. For most of history the problem has been finding enough to eat, not worrying about eating too much.

          • lyn says:

Here are the top 99: http://www.special-dictionary.com/proverbs/source/t/tibetan_proverb/

Eat half is Jamaican: When yu go a fireside an’ see food, eat half an’ lef’ half.

          • lyn says:

Tibetan: Eat according to the limits of your provisions; walk according to the length of your step.

          • votermom says:

            Thanks Lyn.

Eat according to the limits of your provisions; walk according to the length of your step.

That’s an interesting proverb, and quit in line with “knowing one’s limits” – good advice for everyday life.

            Contrarily, Robert Browning suggests:

” Ah, but a man’s reach should exceed his grasp,
            Or what’s a heaven for?”

Time for the “true conservatives” to join their fellow open border globalists on the left so people can actually *know* what they’re voting for (and it ain’t abortion).

I don’t know if anyone saw Manafort on Fox this a.m. That idiot Wallace stupidly asked about Trump signing-on to Ryan’s agenda. Manafort did not hesitate to correct Wallace – that Trump is now head of the Republican Party and it is Trumps agenda, the “Peoples” agenda, not Ryan’s.

Time for Ryan to get some of that old-time religion. Perhaps a nice beating out back

  19. WMCB says:

Not everyone out there is freaking out at Trump’s debt ideas he floated. Resets are horrible and uncomfortable, yes. The economy would take a big hit. But we can’t just keep on – the reckoning always comes.

He also had women *fainting* at his very presence and proclaimed himself as a hologram on which people could project their own wishes on. Mr. Just Words.
He is such a fraud that no matter what he says, I will find something – if not everything – wrong with it. No. Matter. What.

  25. FRONT PAGE @ Daily Kos right now: Here is the truth: I fear Donald Trump

In a disturbing irony, Republicans are voting for hope, while Democrats are voting out of fear.

Prediction: Markos will yank this soon. I screen shot it.

    • WMCB says:

The left is losing iron control of The Cultural Narrative. And once they lose that, they are sunk, because they can’t fucking win on tired old socialism.

You’re easily frightened. The proper reaction to Trump is vigorous contempt. Vigor to avoid complacency, and contempt because that’s the only appropriate emotion to feel towards this orange oaf.

Lots of good comments on that BBC thing above.

I came earlier today to say
    Happy Mother’s Day to all.
Time ran out . . my dd#1 arrived early and then the rest of the day was spent with both daughters my son, my dil, and my 2 spectacular gbabies. They’re all gone now, so let me say I hope everyone had as wonderful a Mother’s Day as possible.
