So The Donald gave a speech today, in the midst of the breathless, hour-to-hour network news coverage of Orlando. He had already announced he was holding a press conference on something else, and then that radical Islamic terrorist did the unthinkable. The lovely folks who were celebrating Pride at Pulse did not deserve to die at the hands of a backwards-looking homophobic religious fanatic, and Trump said so. He said the LGBT community deserved to be protected, and they do. He said Hillary was no friend of their’s, and he was right.
Hillary had given a speech an hour before, knowing full well when his presser was scheduled. She was trying to beat him to the punch, to frame the debate. She gave a lot of typical bullshit rhetoric about keeping America safe, but she wouldn’t say from what. Trump called her out on that. A mere two hours later, this was Hillary:
This is why The Donald has a good shot at winning this election, even with the press trying to tear him down as hard as they tried to build Obama up in 2008. He leads.
Hillary cannot compete with that. She’s not a leader. She’s been following her whole life.
I’ve been very sorry to read about the deaths and injuries, the permanent maiming of our Orlando friends. Many of us either are gay, or have been allies with the LGBT community for many years. It’s been painful to watch the press try to bilk every inch of political capital out of this they can. I’ve watched through the progression of the bleed lead, to the gleeful pro-Hillary hand-clapping of a Dem demographic, to the switch up after Trump’s speech of identifying the folks at this gay club as really, actually Hispanic. As the day wore on, they pivoted to gun control. You can watch them actively massaging this message in real time, and it’s fucking bullshit.
Through it all, they were loath to mention that Trump just gave the support of the presumptive GOP nominee to The Gays. Thank fucking God.
Fuck. This. Shit. #GoTrump. #MakeAmericaGayAgain
Bottom line: This was a terrorist act of mass murder and intolerance. The victims were members of the Orlando gay community who were OUT and PROUD that night, as they have every right to be in this country. End of story.
