Fuck You, Jeb!

Mitt Romney isn’t the only Republican pissing away what remains of his credibility and reputation. Now Jebbie is all butthurt:

Jeb Bush: Trump does not represent the future of the country — or the GOP

Call it a tipping point, a time of choosing or testing. Whatever you call it, it is clear that this election will have far-reaching consequences for both the Republican Party and our exceptional country.

While he has no doubt tapped into the anxiety so prevalent in the United States today, I do not believe Donald Trump reflects the principles or inclusive legacy of the Republican Party. And I sincerely hope he doesn’t represent its future.

As much as I reject Donald Trump as our party leader, he did not create the political culture of the United States on his own.

Eight years of the divisive tactics of President Obama and his allies have undermined Americans’ faith in politics and government to accomplish anything constructive. The president has wielded his power — while often exceeding his authority — to punish his opponents, legislate from the White House and turn agency rulemaking into a weapon for liberal dogma.

In turn, a few in the Republican Party responded by trying to out-polarize the president, making us seem anti-immigrant, anti-women, anti-science, anti-gay, anti-worker and anti-common-sense.

The result has been the vanishing of any semblance of compromise or bipartisanship in our nation’s capital. Simple problems don’t get solved. Speeches happen; the important stuff doesn’t. The failure of elected leaders to break the gridlock in Washington has led to an increasingly divided electorate, which in turn has led to a breakdown in our political system.

Unfortunately, the understandable anger and fear haven’t given rise to a resurgence of purpose in politics or renewed a debate in our party about how Republicans win back the White House with the power of our ideas.

Instead, they have given rise to the success of a candidate who continues to grotesquely manipulate the deeply felt anger of many Americans. Trump’s abrasive, Know Nothing-like nativist rhetoric has blocked out sober discourse about how to tackle America’s big challenges.

Go fuck yourself, Jeb.

In case you missed it, there was a battle for the heart and soul of the Republican party, and YOU LOST.

It wasn’t even close.

So shut your damn pie hole and go crawling back to the mansion you bought with daddy’s money.

    Jazz Shaw:

The bitterness which seems to have consumed Jeb Bush is, in some ways, understandable. All through the primary he appeared to move from one obvious error to the next in the crafting of his campaign strategy. He was completely flummoxed by Trump’s arrival on the scene. And to be fair to Jeb, so were most of the rest of the candidates. But watching Bush was a particularly uncomfortable show for much of the audience. He had so convinced himself (and the media) that he was the frontrunner by default, sitting on massive piles of campaign contributions, that he seemed completely incapable of digesting the idea that the voters might reject him for something new. Right up until his final exit from the race he gave the impression of someone who was sure that they were going to wake up from a bad dream at any moment and suddenly be on his way to be sworn in as the next President.

Once the dream was well and truly shattered, I had been guessing that Jeb would take a page from his brother’s playbook and choose to fade into the background a bit, allowing the eventual finalists to finish the battle. That hasn’t happened, though. Jeb Bush remains in denial over the complete rejection he faced at the hands of the primary voters and is still looking to poison the well for the man who sent him packing. But after this week (barring some sort of miracle for Trump’s detractors) the final game is afoot and the GOP needs to put the primary, for all its unpleasantness, in their rear view mirror. Personally, I don’t think Donald Trump has been particularly adept thus far at managing his general election strategy or maximizing the opportunities which have come his way. He’s also been operating until very recently on virtually zero campaign cash. And yet he remains within striking distance of Hillary Clinton in most of the polls and even leads her in a few.

This battle is not lost and Hillary Clinton is not a forgone conclusion as the next POTUS. Jeb Bush and the rest of his tribe need to come to grips with the reality in front of them. There’s a fierce battle ahead of us and we don’t need any more grenades going off in our own trenches. You lost, Jeb. It’s time to accept that and get on with your life.

Jazz is the only reason I still visit Hot Air these days.

Lest we forget, Jeb signed a pledge to support the GOP nominee. Of course that was when he expected to win.

Caught the Trump-Pence thingy, very inspiring from both men in two different tones. I’m really impressed with this ticket now. No doubts anymore, the wow factor is there guys, give it time.

First thing out of Pence’s mouth was to thank the Trump family for their great sacrifices this past year to save America. (They’re certainly not in it for the power and money, which has always been a part of The Donald’s charm 😉 ).

Will be interesting to see who Hillary picks now. Tim Kaine would be her best vanilla (though slightly melted) or Eliz Warren for her lady parts. Pence is much smarter than either of them 😀

Oh yeah, and Fuck Jeb! (Go work for Hillary, that would be more honest)

    • Dora says:

I watched it too. The excitement was there.

I really think we are going to win this thing! 🙂

    • Constance says:

I watched the whole thing too. It was much longer than expected….Trump really took advantage of the free air time! Trump summed up his plans, and said “I’m not a perfect man but I plan to make America safe and great again” relative to support of Evangelicals. Pence sounds like he ran a tight ship in Indiana with a balanced budget, lower taxes and increased spending on schools and health care. That is impressive.

I didn’t think it was possible, but Liz Warren annoys me more than Hillary. Kinda middle school, mean girl …..

    • elliesmom says:

I’ve been totally unimpressed since my Hillary 2008 creds got me invited to one of the pre-game Lizzie warm-ups. I don’t think she’s ever had an original thought.

      • DeniseVB says:

Warren’s a millionaire house flipper, so never could understand her taking credit for the OWS movement ? How did she beat Scott Brown, he was an adorable Senator 😉

        • elliesmom says:

She beat Scott Brown because Emily’s List, Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and other left wing women’s groups flocked to support Warren with mega money and feet on the ground. The Boston Globe refused to report on the fake Indian thing, her practicing law in MA w/o a license, and the house-flipping thing. Most people in MA are still unaware of everything but the Fauxcohontas stuff. They also didn’t know how much she got for teaching one class a semester at Harvard or what her students thought of her. People were not standing in line to take her class.
Brown had won the election before because people in MA wanted to stop ObamaCare and Martha Coakley was a terrible candidate. Although the Kennedy’s campaigned for her, they kept calling her “Marsha”, which didn’t give their support a lot of credence. Coakley was also involved in prosecuting the Fells Acre Day Care folks. It was a huge scandal here. But although Scott kept his promise to vote against ObamaCare, we got it shoved down our throats anyway. While he wasn’t held accountable for that, as a Republican he hadn’t fulfilled what they wanted. A lot of people thought Warren had been treated badly by Obama and wanted to shove her back into his face. IOW, Scott did nothing wrong and had good approval ratings, but he was up against a lot.

Saw an episode the other day where the narrator starts the show with “the police are held to a higher standard because we give them a badge and a gun; unfortunately, they are recruited from the human race”…I would love for some of these BLM asshats to do some ride alongs in some of our finer gang infested, drug overlords, littered with homeless inner cities to get a taste of a day in the life…unfortunately, I am also talking about people that are (reportedly) from the human race also.

In the 90’s my son spent a semester at college(working on Criminal Justice degree) doing ride-a-longs with the Charlotte, NC police thinking it would be cool like his favorite show “COPS”. It wasn’t. Now the school is sending their CJ students through the police academy, which makes more sense since they’re better prepared to apply to local police departments now. Would have been better money spent too.

I am heartbroken for the men women and children that will be killed by these Islamic assholes for trying to take back their country. Sad. And we watched it happen and did nothing. Shame on us for not doing a damn thing. Shame on us for allowing the Obamas to still live in OUR house on OUR money telling LIES. I am ready to revolt I just need a leader.

I think the Thursday night unselection showed that Trump is indecisive.

Oh look the person who has been wrong ALL YEAR still thinks they have something to say that is worth hearing.

You know why you’ve been wrong all year — because you fell for the dumb establishment bullshit and you are STILL falling for it. Because stupid doesn’t learn.
There was NO “Thursday night unselection” — that is yet another media lie to fool the dummies. It worked — again.

        • 1539days says:

So, wait. Am I supposed to vote for Trump because Hillary is worse? Or is the goal that I am so demoralized that I kill myself before the election? All I know is that Trump “postponed” a Friday afternoon event so he could tweet out the news on Friday morning.

I hope you knock on doors for Trump. You could probably lose a good 20-30 voters a day for him.

          • Venus says:

No, you’re going to stop pretending you have any worthwhile insight into anything.

          • Somebody says:

FFS 1539, Trump had an 11am press conference scheduled and he canceled because of the terrorist attack in France. News flash he didn’t think an up beat VP roll out was appropriate after what happened.
He didn’t cancel the press conference because he was being indecisive and you damn well know that, stop being a dick.

          • 1539days says:

The 11am press conference wasn’t really his choice. The media would know it was Pence by Friday afternoon because of the paperwork to withdraw from the IN gubernatorial race. Given that Trump cancelled the press conference, one has to wonder why he didn’t just make the announcement on Thursday night. Instead, it was made on Friday morning in a tweet just barely in time to beat the Indiana filing deadline.

        • Myiq2xu™ says:

For weeks they have been asking Trump “Who did you pick? Who didja pick? Who’d yapick? Hoodjapick? HOODJAPIK????” and Trump has been blowing them off.

Now they are trying to spin his blow-off answers into a controversy.

          • Venus says:

Trump has shown singularity of purpose over the past year. Yes, he has made a few gaffes, but always with a consistent message and an eye on the “prize”. He’s bested all comers to this point (16!) despite millions upon millions of $$ and tens of thousands of hours of media spent to take him down. He destroyed Cruz and the nevertrumpers. He made “golden boys” Jeb! and Rubio irrelevant. He brought out the most Primary voters in history. The end result is he has only gotten stronger.

They have tried everything and I do not believe Pence is going to be the straw that breaks the proverbial back. No matter who he chose for VP, you would see comments decrying the pick and saying “its over for Trump now!” Where have we heard that before?

Me, I’m not tired of winning yet.

          • 1539days says:

He brought out the most Primary voters in history.

Trump had the largest number of Republican primary votes for a single candidate. The fact that he only got 45% of Republican primary votes is impressive as well, since Richard Nixon was the last nominee to get less than 50% of Republican primary votes. If he is responsible for bringing out those 30 million voters, Trump is also responsible for the 55% who voted for someone other than him.
