“Pravda” Means “Truth”

Spiders spin webs, the media spins lies.

From No Quarter (h/t Venus):

Pravda Is Alive and Well in America and Hillary is the Potemkin Candidate

If you are over the age of 55 you probably remember the former Soviet “News” Organization, PRAVDA (i.e. TRUTH) when it was the organ of communication for the Communist Party. PRAVDA symbolized the Soviet penchant for lying about the realities in their country. PRAVDA, for example, would put out stories touting incredible economic growth and stores overflowing with consumer goods. In truth, however, growth lagged and the shelves were bare.

The media labored valiantly to portray the Democrat Convention as the greatest thing to happen to America. They are probably right on one point–the Convention created more jobs for blue collar workers than Obama had created so far in his feckless reign. The electronic and print media trumpeted that the Convention was drawing more viewers than the Republicans. Vindication, in their jaundiced eyes at least, that a majority favored Hillary and the Dems.

Whoops. Final numbers are it. When it really counted, more people watched Donald Trump than watched Hillary Clinton. Poor Hollywood Reporter almost choked in having to report this:

With all ratings in across networks, the DNC finale comes in short of the RNC — though averages a much stronger showing over four days. Trump 34.9 million to Hillary’s 33.7 million.

Trump attracted 1.2 million more viewers than Hillary. Yet the media persists thru today with trying to portray Hillary as trampling Trump. Conveniently ignored by the cheerleaders for Hillary was the absence of one tiny thing–a list of actual accomplishments. Her experience shows her to be a failure. As the first Lady at the White House she could not keep Bill from banging interns an close friends in the White House. As Senator on behalf of New York she managed to help make the case for going to war in Iraq, otherwise no significant legislation. And as Secretary of State she helped set the Middle East on fire, adding wood and fuel to the conflagration started by Bush and Cheney.

Can you imagine the howling and outrage that would ensue if Donald Trump did what Hillary’s team did? You know, hiring people to wear her gear and sit in seats in side the Convention Hall and cheer. We already know how crazed the media gets if Donald Trump dares speak the name of Putin or say Russia. The fainting couches are crushed under the weight of bloated reporters recoiling in horror and passing out at Trump’s remark that it would be swell if Russia could find the 30,000 emails Hillary and her team deleted.

The press, including some claiming to be conservative, can embrace the notion that a woman described by the FBI Director as “reckless” and “ignorant” when it comes to handling classified information is in fact some sort of All Star for the Presidency.

Hillary is just a human version of a Potemkin Village.

In politics and economics, a Potemkin village (also Potyomkin village, derived from the Russian: Потёмкинские деревни, is any construction (literal or figurative) built solely to deceive others into thinking that a situation is better than it really is. The term comes from stories of a fake portable village, built only to impress Empress Catherine II during her journey to Crimea in 1787.

One thing I remember about the Soviet era is that they weren’t fooling anyone. You can tell people that the stores are overflowing with stuff but they can see the bare shelves with their own eyes.

The media lies in several different ways. They tell us things that just aren’t true. They lie by concealing the truth. They lie by telling the truth, but not all of it. And they lie by distracting us from the truth with shiny squirrels.

The best defense against liars is to stop listening, however, that is a catch-22 because instead of being deceived you are blissfully ignorant. The truth is out there. But if you seek the truth you will have to sift thru a lot of bullshit to find it.

Piss off the media – vote for Trump.

    Can’t let this happen!

    • DeniseVB says:

Yep, but will the Bernies remember the crappy scheduling during the dem debates were part of the “plot” and see more of that same manipulations between DNC and media? I’m sure Trump will point that out 🙂

    • 1539days says:

What’s hilarious to me is that Trump told ABC that the NFL sent a letter objecting to the debate schedule.

      and then….

  2. Myiq2xu™ says:

You can read about Hillary’s speech, or you can watch it for yourself. But her speech itself is a lie, so if you get the media version you have lie ²

  3. DeniseVB says:

I got a retweet from Joe’s brother 😉 And it’s on topic! Media and the NeverTrumpers thought DNC was so much better than the RNC also. How. Could. That. Be. ?

Hillary and the propaganda machine are all about this Muslim soldier who lost his life in Iraq. And the speech by his parents is supposed to make Donald Trump look bad. Because Donald hasn’t “sacrificed anything” Hillary on the other hand, was more than willing to sacrifice other people’s children for her political purposes
As if this Muslim soldier was the only one, who lost his life. As if she hadn’t abandoned American soldiers and an American Ambassador to die undefended in a foreign country.
The propaganda machine grinds on.Gr8 ending out crap that is so paper thin in substance it is ridiculous.
We are supposed to grieve, wring out hands , tear our clothing and pour ashes on our heads for this Muslim soldier, but the hell with all the multitudes of dead bodies left by Muslim terrorists. Just look past that, and grieve for this one Muslim soldier. Nice try, propaganda machine.

    • blowme0bama says:

Yup, just more shaming bullshit. Sorry, DGAF.

    • taw46 says:

Kevin over at Hillbuzz talks about this in his summary of the speeches from the Dem convention. They find one good person from a group, show this over and over, then you are not “allowed” to criticize anyone else in that group, especially their ideology. He also points out that in this week of speeches about and featuring women, here we have a Muslim woman who stands silently behind the man. But the MSM doesn’t dare talk about that. Not about how women are treated, killing of gays, Sharia law.

Another point Kevin addresses is in Kareem Abdul Jabar’s speech: “Claims that Thomas Jefferson would want Muslims to come here. This is a new thing that Dems have been doing since 2008, trying to claim that Thomas Jefferson wanted America to be Muslim and that he liked Islam. They try to do this with Churchill too. It’s insidious. Jefferson fought Barbary Muslim Pirates. He was not for Islam.” Obama does this all the time. For people who know nothing about our beginnings, they would think America was founded by Muslims. MSM never corrects any of this. Propoganda, indeed. Oh, and Michelle was right in 2008, when she said they would change our history.

      • 1539days says:

Thomas Jefferson had a copy of the Koran. He read it in the midst of the Barbary Wars to learn about Islam. His conclusion is that the US had to go to war with Muslim pirates robbing American ships and taking the sailors as slaves. Subduing them with superior might was the only way to get through to Muslims.

Neither Churchill nor Jefferson viewed Islam as a valid religion but rather as a violent, nihilist social and/or political ideology seeking to dominate and enslave the world. So did Charles Martel.

Those who kill for both are Recon

      • lateblum says:

I saw next to nothing of the DNC. I watched reruns of many things, but not of HRC and DNC lies and the liars who spoke. I did see the man holding up his copy of the Constitution. What I noticed as he held up his pocket copy, was the woman standing to the side and, what looked like, behind him. I shook my head at the optic and the message that was sent about the value of women in general.

      • DeniseVB says:

Brian Kilmeade (fox and friends) wrote a bestseller about Jefferson and the Barbary pirates.

      • Constance says:

But the silent woman covered and standing obediently behind a man communicated a lot of negativity. The fact that the DNC couldn’t see it just shows how out of touch with reality they are.

    • Constance says:

Yeah I just found that whole incident at the Dem convention baffling. I’ve been around many families who have people serving in Iraq or Afghanistan and I know a family who lost a son/husband/father over there. So a Muslim guy served and got killed by another Muslim. Tragic, but what has that got to do with Trump outrage? Did Trump vote in Congress to get us into the Mid East war? Did Trump hype or profit from the Mid East war? Did the party Trump (sort of) represents have control of war policy decisions for the last 8 years? WTF was that whole Dem convention thing about?! I found it very alienating. And personally I am not going to sit there and listen to some outraged immigrant spout off about my country, if he doesn’t like it here then go back where he is from and make that country a better place. I am sorry his son was killed.

For those of you who get Turner Classic Movies, today at 12:00 noon the movie Gaslight will be showing. Besides being a very entertaining film, it is from this movie that we get the often used term ‘gaslighting’.

    • lateblum says:

      Love that movie.

      • taw46 says:

Me, too. Love all the old movies.

        • lateblum says:

Ha! I actually used the term “gaslighting” after I first saw the movie. And since I had never heard it used prior to that, I thought I had made up the word, meaning an action of cruel deception. In fact, many people told me it wasn’t a real word – at least not the way I was using it. (The nuns always had problems with anyone going “off the ranch”.)
Of course, I now realize I didn’t actually make up the word. But for a while, I felt quite smart. 😉

          • blowme0bama says:

Good lord, Leslie, how long ago was that? They used the term on a Lucy show in the 60s.

          • lateblum says:

They may have used it on Lucy. But my parents didn’t allow us to watch tv without them. And they never watched Lucy. They thought she was silly and they had no time for silliness. 😦

    • Constance says:

That is the creepiest movie ever. It reminds me of one of my ex’s. But it’s worth the watch. In fact I wish I had that channel.

  7. 1539days says:

Who watched more of the convention isn’t a big deal anyway. There is no correlation between convention ratings and general election outcome.

Dems blamed Nader’s 15% and Nader laughed. Also, Perot pulled Repub voters from “establishment” GHWB and gave us the Clintoons.

          • AFVet says:

            Roger that on Perot.
This one may or may not be a nail biter.
If it’s close the dems will steal it.
If it is a landslide for Trump the dems will claim fraud, like they haven’t done that before.

This election has to be undeniably over the top for Trump.
Otherwise, we are in for a nasty 4 years.

      • Lulu says:

I think almost all of the polling is off. The number of people refusing to be polled and those who lie (for social reasons after 8 years of being told to shut up you racist moron) and the levels of enthusiasm for various groups which may be up or down in November is making this election un-pollable. It is all starting to remind me of Brexit (Obama’s creepy guy ran the Remain campaign) where fear, lies, and garbage are being thrown at the wall and the public is walking on by and ignoring it. Ads are not working either much.

      • lyn says:

The electoral college needs to go!

        • AFVet says:

I agree, and my wife has said that for years.
          Too easily rigged.

        • Somebody says:

If the electoral college is eliminated, odds are we will never have another republican POTUS again. To eliminate the EC is to move to a popular vote, so the concerns of anyone NOT in a major urban area will be lost.

There is a reason we have the electoral college, it is to give weight to ALL states.

I could see dividing the EC up by congressional districts, but that would be about it. I think the better approach is to STOP counting illegal aliens in the census…..you can count them to know where they are but they shouldn’t count to assign EC votes or congressional districts.

          • AFVet says:

            OK then, eliminate gerrymandering.

          • taw46 says:

            I agree with Somebody.

          • Somebody says:

Eliminate gerrymandering, man don’t we all wish we could wave a magic wand and have that happen. Both parties are guilty of gerrymandering. The courts have ruled against many gerrymandered districts and I swear sometimes the “fix” is worse than the original.

The design of a congressional district is decided at the state level and it is at a state level where gerrymandering should be fought. Same goes for electoral college, if you want your state to divide the EC by congressional district get involved that decision is made at a state level. Some states already divide their electoral college votes that way…….but as with anything be careful what you wish for. Oh sure, dividing NY’s electoral college votes would net some extra EC votes for the R’s……but divide GA’s the same way and guess what happens to a large chunk of the EC votes from the Atlanta metro area in an otherwise solid red state.

          • DeniseVB says:

The Virginia GOP assembly have been putting bills forward every year to award electoral votes by congressional district won, and the Dems keep yelling Racist ! I think that would be more fair and we’d never have another Dem pres again!

        • DeniseVB says:

Also caucuses. I don’t like that the team with the biggest bullies wins, let the people vote !

When we watched the convention on our TV, we watched it on CSPAN, but when we moved outside to the deck, we had to stream it. When we tried to stream CSPAN, Verizon went into validation mode and never came back every night. So we were stuck with sites that remembered us. We rotated nights (for both conventions) between CNN, MSNBC, and CSPAN. I don’t remember which night we watched which channel during the Republican convention, but when I got up the next morning, there wasn’t anything glaring about what I saw and what places like Breitbart reported the next day. I know we watched Hillary’s speech on CNN. It appeared to be a giant love fest.

The next day I saw a FB video from a young man who was a Bernie supporter. He showed pics he had taken of white noise machines being placed in areas where Bernie supporters were to be seated and Bernie folks who were refused seating because someone had taken their seats. People no one had seen at the convention until that night. Most of the Bernie folks gave up and joined the protests outside, but the ones who managed to get a seat were booing, catcalling, and in general protesting inside the convention center. The young man on FB managed to stay because he stole someone else’s seat. His cell phone footage showed Hillary barely able to speak over the protesters during the beginning of her speech. I don’t know if it continued throughout her whole speech or not. But on CNN she came out to an adoring crowd, people in the audience were crying tears of joy, and the party was totally united behind her. I don’t know if the Democrats will be able to keep up the facade that Hillary is fully-clothed until the election. They’ve certainly done it before. The FB post made me go searching for unedited footage. It was shared with me by a Democrat, not a Trump supporter. I wasn’t his target audience.

    • taw46 says:

There were lots of videos on Twitter all four nights. I only watched FBN, and as I said before, even they covered very little of it. The first 2 nights, they did go outside and show the protests. But even they did not show the protestors inside, although they did point out several times that there was booing inside during the speeches. I posted several of those videos here. The MSM did indeed control the narrative. Glad to hear some people posted the videos on FB.

    • DeniseVB says:

I saw some raw footage of a massive walkout during her speech, verified by the fact they walked by a monitor with her speechifying 🙂

    • Constance says:

Hillary shouldn’t have run, she is damaged goods and it was the 2008 Obots who damaged her. The Bernie Bros are as bad as the Obots, the Dem can’t control them and I don’t see them ever voting for Hillary. The Dems have some hard line woman haters with power in their club, if they don’t get them in line they will alienate even the passive Dem women who remained in the party after 2008. They have a long 3 months ahead of them.

I just read in my local Pravda, that bronco and his mare are “thrilled” in announcing the Presidential Library will be built in the Jackson Park neighborhood “in the heart of Chicago’s South side”. I’m thrilled because that means it will provide jobs for people who are motivated to work (either in the construction or after it is built) and no one with a working brain will be foolish enough to travel there and risk their life after it opens.
At least not if the crime rate in Chicago remains as high as it is now.
Thus far, 5 people have been murdered here since the weekend began. It would’ve been higher except it was raining last night and Lollapalooza was happening.

Itching to see latest polls. I get a sense that after dim con my friends seem to have relaxed about Trump. I did not watch but I gather it was one big Trump promo. Seriously if you are trying to woo straight white uneducated men Biden, Kaine, and Bloomberg is not the path.
Milo would have been more effective than a shaking Bill. I only saw clips but he looked like a ghost.
They be always talking bout these straight uneducated crackers like its a tribe of Neanderthals in our midst. They have become offensive in the non stop berating. All I can say about my college years was that it was fun. I drank a lot of beer. Dealing with a child is far more educational. Splat is up to my shoulders she used to sit in one arm.
I think dance and humor are the keys. Pup has been on the boards since 3. I don’t mean Dance Moms crazy. First class was like boot camp. I said no thanks. Found this woman that had done Broadway. Her brother teaches at Steps on Upper West Side. It is so brilliant. Ballet is like meditation. You have to focus. Listen to yourself. Humor helps with math. Its about being able to look differently at something. To feel it. I find blue collar folks much more in touch with laughter. Go into a dive bar on a rainy day work stops and everyone heads to the bar. DNC seems to me to be living in 1973. The way they handle feminism and gay rightsdoes not mesh with the real world. I dot need a safe space. The banter I endure with the guys is endless. There is one decent bar to watch a Saturday hockey game. Its a gay bar my lunch bucket friends join me. Only once did we have a problem. Bartender was young, hairless and shirtless. My friend said looks like you are getting soft in the middle. No never tell a twink he’s getting tubby. kid was devastated. Maybe a 72 hour watch.

I did not watch DNC but I got this vibe that all bad stems from working class straight white men they rape and go fa g bashing. Simply not true

Then to have Bloomie no sodas for you on. He won because he hired everyone. I mean everyone in NY politics. He paid them to do nothing. No one could challenge him there was no one left. I heard he did same thing in Colorado and would have against Trump but his people said you cannot buy what The Donald has.
For real though Hills knows she has trouble with men. Bloomberg, Biden Kaine. So far off the mark.

  19. Venus says:

So you may have heard that Reuters/Ipso polling changed their methodology because it showed Trump having a 17 point “bump” from his convention and had pulled ahead of Hillary, and that just couldn’t be allowed.
They are announcing they’ve changed their methodology, but what they haven’t said, but is revealed in the internals is that they polled:

    394 men sampled
    648 women sampled

Of course it shows Clinton in the lead…………..a real sampling should have been

    51% women and 49% men

    63% women and 37% men

Still — changing the questions and that oversampling of women only shows Hillary 6 points ahead of Trump — not the “double digit lead” that all the experts guaranteed Hillary would have over Trump if he was the nominee.

Do those fuckers ever get tired of being wrong?
