  1. They are literally playing with tinfoil pillows for an Olympic opening.

Omg,? They just built a wall in the olympic opening ceremonies😉

I really hope we elect trump now because i am tired of the whole world commenting on our choice to get us out of this global and pc downward spiral.

We need to eliminate CO2 so that plants will grow.
        – what kids watching this are learning.

        • Mt.Laurel says:

You have now entered the Irony Zone.

        • elliesmom says:

The formula for photosynthesis is part of the middle school curriculum-
6 CO2+ 6 H2O → C6H12O6+ 6 O2 Carbon dioxide plus water in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll produces a sugar and oxygen is the way little kids would learn it.
Without carbon dioxide, all plants on the planet would die. Since plants produce the oxygen we breathe, we’d be goners, too. I’m not watching the Olympics, but I’m not surprised. People have been brainwashed into thinking carbon dioxide is a poison that is going to kill the planet. To teach kids carbon dioxide is necessary for life on Earth is being a “science denier”.

    • 1539days says:

All kinds of diseases come from rain forests. We should burn them all down.

    • Dora says:

Rain forests sounds so romantic. Aren’t they really just jungles? Has the word jungle been banned?

  9. lateblum says:

Better there than in Chicago. Here, we’d have been dodging bullets and BLM both in the opening ceremony and out on the sidewalks. In fact, with all the rancor and divisiveness, they’d have had to move the Olympics to a safer city.

  10. DandyTIger says:

Trying to watch the opening ceremonies, but NBC sucks so bad.

    • Myiq2xu™ says:

We get the recorded version starting 7:30 pdt

    • taw46 says:

Yes, it does. They have had the Olympics for years, always bad. We need a “C-span” for Olympics!

      • lateblum says:

It has to be a drag being the broadcasters doing the opening ceremonies. That thing went on for HOURS. I turned it on during the entrance of the teams. I thought some of the comments by the NBC team were beyond inane. They were rude and insulting – to the athletes as well as to the viewers. The good thing was, it made turning away from it easier.

Remember the Reuters/IPSOS poll that changed their methodology because it showed Trump coming from 17 points down to lead? Then showed Hillary overnight ahead by 7?

Well, now it’s Hillary 41.5 to Trump 39.1, closing the gap to 2.4 points.

    Time to change the methodology……again……!poll/TM651Y15_DS_13/filters/LIKELY:1/type/smallest/dates/20160710-20160804/collapsed/true/spotlight/1

    • DandyTIger says:

Only poll women. And only ask them if they’re voting for Hillary vs. a dead rat. Probably get Hillary up to 45% with that methodology.

      • Venus says:

        Sounds about right! LOL

      • Constance says:

Well a lot of women are not going to be honest who they are voting for. I am only honest with a few people because a lot of very pushy women will badger if they find out you don’t intend to vote for the first woman President. So I suspect a lot of women don’t give real answers to pollsters.
Trump should run a series of ads reminding it is a private ballot and people should feel free to make their vote without being badgered or having to explain to loud yapping Liberals. And Liberals do harass people and try to shun and degrade them if you don’t conform to group think. So give people a few lines to toss out, “really! do you have to ask?”, “I value my private ballot and so should you”…….

First, the Khan job, now this? Reading between the lines: “Dems running out of minorities to exploit, now pandering to a new demographic”

    • Fun fact: You can’t find out on the internet what kind of Muslim (Sunni, Shiite, Fruit of) Ms. Mohammad is, but you can find out her parents are named Denise & Eugene.

Also, she met with the Obamas earlier this year, so you can bet that activism was coordinated.

      • lateblum says:

I didn’t used to think that the religion of the POTUS was relevant to the job of upholding the Constitution and protecting the people, but this pResident has made me a believer that someone raised in the Muslim philosophy and BLT is a danger to the nation.
This woman took the same road that obama takes when he speaks out against the US and we, the people.
Really, they can both go away, far away to somewhere they can be happy and feel safe and vaued. And they can STFU.
Can you tell, I’ve had it with that motley cast of rats?

God, I hate NBC. It was a nice opening ceremony considering all the bad press Rio’s gotten this past year, but Team Lauer were just so annoying and there seemed to be more commercials than actual coverage. I hung in there til 12:30am just because, hey, it’s the Olympics! Canadian Broadcast ran their coverage in real time…..BBC ran it uninterrupted. I followed Twitter and enjoyed the bitching so I knew I wasn’t alone. My dh went to bed after he counted 90+ commercials, he couldn’t take it anymore. Here’s a little more background to the coverage I plucked from wiki this morning…..

Despite occurring in a location that is only one hour ahead of the Eastern Time Zone (where the ceremony began at 7:00 p.m. ET), NBC (Comcast Corporation) confirmed that it would continue its practice of tape delaying the opening ceremony broadcast for the United States audience, citing a need to provide “context” for its contents; the broadcast began at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT, resulting in the ceremony airing on a half-hour delay on the east coast, and a three-and-a-half-hour delay on the west. Canadian broadcaster CBC mocked NBC’s decision on Twitter, pointing out that it would broadcast the ceremony live.[35][36][37][38] NBC had also made a request to the IOC for the Parade of Nations to be conducted in English alphabetical order rather than Portuguese, stating that it would affect viewership if the U.S. team, referred to as “Estados Unidos” in Portuguese, entered too soon. The IOC denied this change, as it runs contrary to the requirement that countries enter in the alphabetical order of the language of the host country.[39] NBC’s coverage of the ceremony was then widely criticized for the frequent advertising breaks, with six breaks amounting to 14 minutes of commercials in the first 40 minutes of the ceremony. The frequent ads were also said to disrupt the pace of the ceremony.[40] Moreover, the high volume of commercial breaks extended the 3 hour, 38 minute ceremony to 5 hours on NBC, ending on Saturday, 00:30 local time in each American time zone.

    • taw46 says:

I hate NBC, too. They always ruin the Olympics. And their monopoly on the games continues through 2020.

    • lateblum says:

I didn’t watch all of last night’s Olympic coverage. So I wasn’t aware there were so many commercials. Makes me happy I didn’t waste all that time trying to enjoy the 2016 opening ceremony. I wish there a way to watch the CBC. That would be a treat.
I wanted to see the “Parade of Nations” so I could see the Refugee team. That was a stroke of genius, I thought. Did NBC dream that up to increase ratings? If not for the inclusion of the refugees, I wouldn’t have watched at all last night.
That said, I thought NBC commentators were snarky and disrespectful and should never again be given the mic.
The local news followed the end of the coverage and reported that there over 1100 who are serving to protecting Team USA. Have there been many threats against them? If it’s not Zika virus, it’s terrorist threats. Is the Zika virus Islamic?

  18. DeniseVB says:

Our dashing US team looked more France to me than US. Or country club elite about to board their yachts. A real shame Ralph Lauren couldn’t make his polo logo any bigger too😛

    • Constance says:

Strange, something about those USA outfits does look French. But I do really like them!

      • DeniseVB says:

French flag shirt available on eBay😉 Maybe narrower stripes in just red and white with the blue blazers would have worked better?

Many, many years ago I saw Jerry Lewis live at one of those tent theaters in the round. About halfway through the show a little girl about 10 or so got up from her seat to go to the bathroom. Jerry jumped into the aisle and chased her. The two of them got into a argument about whether it was OK for her to leave. I don’t remember what they said to each other, but it was funny. She finally told him if he really cared about her missing the show, he’d stop and wait for her to get back. Which he did. He sat down on the steps and waited for her. She politely thanked him when she got back, got a hug, and the show went on. When the show was reviewed in the local paper, the critic said Lewis had “humiliated” a small child during his show. Not what the audience saw.

Meanwhile, back on the CamPain Trail of Tears, Ollie shares a Clintoon anecdote …… lol !

  27. lateblum says:

Because I’m on my iPad, I cannot paste any tweets 😟 However I can direct you to Cameron Gray who reported that yesterday the team Lebanon blocked Team Lisrael’s access to the bus that was to take it to the opening ceremony. It nearly triggered a physical confrontation between the teams. It seems Lebanon and Israel were to take the same bus to the ceremony and Lebanon’s team
leader objected and blocked the door to the bus. When Israel requested its own bus, the IOC initially refused. It wasn’t until Team Lebanon absolutely refused to ride with Team Israel that the. IOC found another bus for Israel to ride. I hope this will be the end to the hostilities. I hope.

    • DeniseVB says:

Reminds me that watching all those ME countries, we’re supposed to faux hate blame, did my heart proud they marched into that Olympic venue without shooting or stabbing at each other. Israel, Palestine, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon and others…. pretty remarkable imho.

I know it’s ratings hungry NBC, but I could have done without those remotes to the USA team behaving like frat and sorority girls on the sidelines shouting USA! USA! as other countries were being introduced into the arena. Kinda thought that was rude.

If you followed *live* twitter last night while watching the early coverage, I saw Tonga Hunk photos long before he appeared on the eastern coverage🙂

  28. driguana says:

That was really a very lame Olympics opening ceremony…coupled with all of the commercial ads, we could only take about 20 minutes of it. In the meantime, more of the Brazilian rain forests continue to disappear…
